Deterministic Chaos needs FTTC. 4 is literally it's entire cadence, so getting ammo for using it to the rhythm would be perfect
if they want to get creative with the catalyst think they should increase the mag size by 20 and continue the pattern and make it so the 64th bullet does massive damage (like equal to 5 shots from xenophase)
It would fit the gun really well but it's so holy asscheeks and needs a lot more than FTTC

I think the weaken percentage needs to increase by like 5% with each weakening bullet up to a max of 45% or something. Giving you a lay on the trigger ramp up but ending with a higher debuff than other options.
IT JUST NEEDS TO BE A RAPID FIRE FRAME FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. It takes WAY too long to process its effects. If you could just let loose and rapidly apply void debuffs it would be such a good utility weapon.
I wish they buffed Deterministic Chaos ngl… it has potential to be good especially against Anti-Berriers
Well except, the volatile proc doesn't actually GIVE it Volatile Rounds, it just makes one round of the weapon Volatile, which I think they should either change or just give it Anti-Barrier intrinsiclly. Also, give it Precision Instrument on the catalyst, or have a new perk that gives more damage, like +25%, for each proc of Heavy Metal.

@@The-difference-exterminator I think they were going for a logo that was simultaneously a Joy-stick controller from video games of old, to a hammer made from a star like Mjolnir. Hence the name, StarForge. But yeah, you’re right, it’s kinda phallic-esque looking from afar.

360 are the best at what machines guns are good for which is ad clear.
They have the best ammo economy out of all machine guns.
900s have the highest dps but that is useless for a machine gun becuase that's not their use.
Edit: with that said I would say it being a 900 would help as its perk trigger off shots fired.
It needs a damage buff and ammo buff. Make it a true dps support weapon for bosses. It's like Bungie doesn't know what we want in weapons.

Back when I first play Destiny 2 during the first of the month of season of the black armory, Hammerhead was my very first heavy machine gun weapon ever and it was my favorite weapon to use in the game and I'm so happy that it has returned.
There were only 2 machines guns back then: Hammerhead and Thunderlord. It's not surprising that Hammerhead was your MG because it was most people's first back then.

I'm still mad that Onslaught debuted as a perk on Breakneck, and was paired with Rampage, then they reissued Breakneck, gave it Onslaught and Rampage but they're in the same column so you can't even get that OG Rampage/Onslaught combo on it, but they gave it to Hammerhead.
However with breakneck, the damage went down as the fire rate went up. Rampage was just balancing it out. It's basically the same thing now

Like the other guy said, the Rampage on the OG Breakneck literally only served to negate the decrease in damage per stack that OG Onslaught did. Otherwise, it would have just been The Huckleberry, except in the form of a legendary auto rifle.
Modern Onslaught does NOT decrease the damage of the bullets per-stack, making the Rampage that the OG came with unnecessary. Functionally, a modern Breakneck with just Onslaught (as in, completely disregarding whatever it may randomly roll with in the third slot) is just as effective as the OG Breakneck. A modern Breakneck with Onslaught and practically *anything* in the third slot is gonna be, functionally, more effective than the OG Breakneck. A modern Breakneck with both the current iteration of Onslaught alongside today's Rampage would be starting to border on Exotic levels of powerful. (Again- see the Huckleberry.)
Of course, you can get Rampage+Onslaught on the Brave Hammerhead. It's even the same RPM as Breakneck, but obviously with the damage profile of a Machine Gun.
It would have been too broken to put that on a kinetic Primary lol. The only reason the OG roll had it was to compensate for the damage loss of old Onslaught.

I think the design of deterministic chaos is great, they just need to give it a catalyst that either leads into its support roll OR damage.
The single biggest problem for that thing is the miserable rate of fire killing any chance of actually utilizing its perks effectively. For add clear, most enemies die before either the weaken or volatile activate, and for bosses the combination of awful damage and slow activation of the perks completely counteract any utility it might've had. At the end of the day, a Hunter running Gyrfalcon, weakening grenades, and literally any other Void MG is going to crank out far more utility and damage without burning an exotic weapon slot.
@@griffinfaulkner3514 Yeah weaken is not hard to come by. If DC had a higer % weaken it might be better, buts its currently only as good as a melee/grenade.
360's are the best add clear machine guns, but only when they have a damage perk or aoe effect.
@@xPureAndTheTaintedx Imo considering every 4th shot is supposed to be a "heavy" shot it should deal like 25% more on every 4th shot and 50% more on the 16th shot. I'd also say increase the weaken effect to 20% this probably wouldn't push it much higher than it is now but at the very least this plays into the perks it has.
Edit: Another thing they could do is remove the increased recoil from the 4th shot since the 4th shot has 10x higher recoil than the regular shots

dude same. I have an incand/subsist roll on the 2022 avalanche and it has 6k kills. feels like an exotic with how it tears the room apart in fire
@@mystikad3I have that same roll and it is so nice to clear everything out with only a couple of bullets in a near bottomless magazine.
I have a rewind/auto vorpal/incan roll and ever since I got it commemoration been gathering dust in the vault. Especially when I'm running a solar build with 2x restoration. The LMG is an easy way to keep the buff going.

Especially for onslaught, I felt like rewind rounds with killing tally on void hunter with gyrfalcons felt really nice. Shot the tether and got killing tally on the adds and didn’t ever have to reload.

Im fairly sure target lock triggers off of magazine size, so if we're being extra, theres no reason you shouldnt be running the smallest magazine when using actium, would love to know if that beats out hammerhead

Exactly, i don’t understand the sentiment that hammerhead will low commemoration out of the water, reconstruction is what makes it top tier, not having to reload your HMG and having killing tally in unbeatable.

@@G1nSan3 Name one Machine gun that isn't a heavy. Naming something a Sniper doesn't make it one. By definition a Sniper rifle is a stationary weapon meant to be fired from cover. Something you very rarely see happen in Destiny.

Envious is cracked on it. I've managed to get 211 rounds loaded with it. Its not Comm but its a great fucking LMG.

I’ve been running fourth times and killing tally. Get the 3 and it’s there forever with actium and fourth times. Did 4.19M damage against final boss of warlords ruin with 0 heavy for the final stand
I have been loving the world drop Marcato-45 strand LMG for onslaught. I have been using a demo-hatchling roll. I also have a triple tap+hatchling roll and demo+onslaught. This is definitely not a damage LMG but for add clear on strand titan that first roll is great.
Man I was using that too, love Demo/ hatchling with warlock strand build. Either necro grips/thorn or the Aztecross Fellwinters helm with the new void dungeon sidearm. Wanna use it with the strand exotic sidearm & a warmers next too. Or with the wish keeper bow.
@@EchoDoctrine Its a somewhat slept on LMG. I didn't hear anyone talk about it when it came out. I think everyone kinda looked at it, maybe saved a roll or 2 in the vault but hasn't tried it. Yes there are far better LMGs of other elements but if you need strand this is far better than the neomuna one.

I’ve been using my demo/onslaught roll in Onslaught and it’s been so much fun. You’re right, never hear anyone talk about it.
@@tysmith1967 I wasn't a huge fan on my onslaught roll. If the mag was larger then I would probably love it but I am loving my hatchling roll. It might be the only weapon with hatchling I really like.
Deterministic applied neither weaken nor volatile during the test - it breaks when you get anti-barrier effect from Well or Volatile rounds.
It honestly needs to have Volatile and Weakening rounds flipped as well as make it apply a debuff equal to Tractor - it will deal less damage than Tractor anyway, but will be a ranged debuff option. Right now you can have Div give the same debuff, but also give crit multiplier and do just as much damage by itself.

With Actium I don't know if 4th Times is even needed. That is the roll I will be going after for my hunter though.
Am also curious about this. I assume it would be less dmg, because it would take longer to proc target lock as a 450 companied to the 900 Retro is I think? I dunno

Enhanced 4th time Enhanced target lock retrofit will always be my non exotic favorite. The power.
If you get someone running divinity on a tormentor retrofit absolutely melts them

I got a nasty shiny roll with rampage and 4th times in the 3rd column and target lock and surrounded it's so spicy 🔥🔥🔥🥵
i got a roll that I think would be really good for boss dps.. rewind rounds/target lock. I tested it in a well of radiance and just kept on shooting.. i think it reloaded like three times before the damage phase ended in the blind well.. i put back up mag on it.. but if it came with appended/extended mag.. then a boss spec mod would go as well.. just shoot forever until you run out of ammo or the damage phase ends

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what the DPS is for any of these guns because you don't use MG's for DPS anyway.
Got a hammerhead with onslaught and destabilising rounds, what a fun combo. Really mice damage but even with a backup mag ammo is gone in seconds 😄

So it’s good but a bit situational; if there’s plenty of ads to get the rampage timing right it’ll be good but that takes a decent amount of effort (to get 6) going
I feel like a lot of weopons got out way ahead of others because of the war rig. If you had to reload zeno or other lmgs, their damage would be more on par with the legendary lmgs that dont have to reload lime commemoration.
I still have my masterworked Avalanced for years back. Never deleted it.
I got a Rewind Rounds and Target Lock roll that I haven’t tried yet, hoping it holds up well
Edit: I just finished doing dps on Akelous (I can't manage to do it on templar since no one i know raids or has a checkpoint so the damage numbers may be different), and it clocked in at 827,268 damage while radiant for roughly 7 seconds with actium war rig equipped.

I wonder how Cascade point stacks up here. If you got some really fast handling with another weapon that you can quickly then swap back to it after getting an ad, then I wonder how it'd do comparatively.
Should've tried rewind rounds with high impact rounds on hammer head, I have it on my machine gun from VOG and that thing hits pretty hard and I can shoot it for a really long time aswell!
Hope we get to see the rewind rounds killing tally roll, drastically a better roll than rampage onslaught. Maybe not for templar testing but overall passively just far superior than anything else, again not for burst, but LMGs arent really burst dps weapons.
Main issue I have is the low reserves. I have a Tally/Rewind rounds roll. It allows you to shoot forever, but the reserves are crap and you run out of ammo fast.
I actually kept that exact same Avalanche
so since proccing surrounded and rampage sucks for these the go to is retrofit on boss and commemoration in general, noice.
No Song of Ir Yut is crazy. It is definitely the best DPS LMG with rewind rounds/target lock
He still showed a Rewind Target lock 450 lmg. Song of Ir Yut will be slightly better because of enhanced target lock, but I feel like for target lock rolls they're just not gonna be good with Aztecross's dmg test method.
Not to me tonight yeah target lock is a good damage perk but if you miss even one bullet it resets you'd have to really keep on target I personally like other parks better if they're on that gun like frenzy,yes even though frenzy isn't as big of a damage perk it's way more consistent because it remains on long as wether you are hitting or taking damage even when it is stowed other perks are just situational
By the time target lock is ramped the test is already over with this testing method lol. Machine guns are not meant for high burst dmg they are not really meant for dps at all but if you do use it for dps they are for the extreme long game for total dmg, in which case retrofit is easily the best lmg. As it has roughly double the total dmg potential as whisper. Not saying you should really dps with any of these guns but if you really had to use a lmg for a really long boss fight then use retrofit.

@@soraneptune4178 machine guns are great in onslaught for dps. This is a dps check for machine guns. I have retrofit, it doesn’t hit as hard as my adept Song Of Ir Yut. Especially when the target is debuffed with jolt or the solar ability artifact mod.
Rewund rounds and onslaught on Hammerhead is my go to
I got a shiny with (Column 3) Rampage / Rewind Rounds and (Column 4) Surrounded / High-Impact Reserves. Don't know how I feel about it yet. Gonna pair it with gyrfalcon and see.
I like Deterministic Chaos a lot Id certainly like to see it get a buff.
Hammerhead and commemoration are really good in high ad environments ngl.

Im one of the few who still has an avalanche, which too be fair it holds both damage and ad clear perks for solar synergy
I wish he did the 4th times+ Target Lock Hammerhead cause that's the roll I'm going for and I was really hoping for those numbers, not some niche, situational damage perks
I haven’t done the math on it but rewind tl should be a very similar roll, and he did test one of those (the avalanche). Ik that’s not exactly what you’re looking for but just if you want an idea yknow
Aztercrooss, use rewind rounds and target lock. It should do more damage. Get target lock to 3x and you get 7k-8k per a shot from hammer head. It works very well.
determanistic needs a catalist and it needs to reduce the shots to proc its effects by half, maybe also add on 4th tiems because man does it suck, doesnt matter about the debuffs it applys if they happen so infrequently that you mayaswell use a primary sidearm at max damage falloff range -.-
@AztecrossGaming I have like 6-7 different rolls. The one I have that's the big damage for Hammerhead is Fourth Time/Target Lock.
Avalanche can proc ignitions very easily tho, wich buff its numbers significantly, and it also does not need war rigs to keep shooting for that dmg fase. i use it for warlords and never reload it in dmg fases
Idk how good it is but the trials one with cascade and auto loading holster, off swap to lucky pants malfeasance( I know it’s supposed to be machine gun only but the swap makes this I think at least A tier for machine gun dps) plus you can reproc cascade

Heir apparent is my favourite gun in all of destiny it’s easily one of the most fun things to use in this game
Dropped and Envious / Taget Lock last night and I'm happy thats all I need. When I switch to it for boss time its got 200+ rounds in the chamber.
I like the idea of that. Don't need a Titan chest piece for endless bullets!
What boss are you fighting where that's even worth using though? I feel like people just want this LMG to be good but it's outclassed by retrofit for dps and commemoration for ad clear

Rampage killing tally is awsome I just shot three adds in the head one shot them then unload on the boss it's easy to proc

Try out Macato strand Machine gun with Demo & Onslaught… on a Strand Grapple Hunter with Facade exotic helm on… legit never have to reload & Onslaught procced the wholeee ammo mag as long as enemies around
rhulk thralls spawn, nezarec you can leave ads alive, same with golgi and many more raid bosses, you can use it in pantheon, it will do good but nothing's beating a GL
Cross should do MG tests without the War Rig because it nullifies any use of any reload perks so we don't see their application under stress test and I'm not sure many people wear it in a damage phase environment anyways
Although I know Rampage is nice in that 3rd slot, isn't this like the 2nd ever Heavy MG with Envious Assassin (first is Circular Logic)? I used Appended and back up to hit 75 rounds but I can get 225 rounds with Envious in my mag ready for a boss when I've got add phases to fill it with (like Onslaught).
I'm sure Rampage or even FTTC/Rewind Rounds would be a better pick, but I definitely appreciate throwing all my reserves into my mag then just holding down the trigger. Have it paired with Onslaught and man, it's a wild beast.
Testing before the enhanced traits come out. Good for base numbers I guess.
I really like a Envious assasin - Target lock Hammerhead roll, did a dmg test using only Well of Radiance, Deadfall Tether and Hammerhead with 2x Void surge (i forgot to put on the 3rd😅) and got 1.2 mil dmg whie losing targte lock once or twice, but that's my aim issue😂. Besides that i really like it.

Got envious assassin and target lock and its pretty nasty for boss damage. Highest ive got in the mag was like 170 ish but im sure you can get 200+ which would just be dank af.
I've got an envious + rewind shiny, sadly with surrounded and not Target Lock. Would've been so nice just to dump my entire reserves without needing to play on titan.

Most people in a real scenario are not using Actium Warrig so if you don't have Fourth Time the Charm, you're going to have to reload at some point in a DPS phase so I think Retrofit Escapade still wins.
Rampage + Killing Tally + Actium War Rig. The buffs stay active.
Frenzy or desperate measures would be another good role for the hammerhead
