    Thank you for the detailed video champ. I went ahead and replaced the strainer in addition to the fuel pump as per your guideline.
    I checked the fuel pressure and it's almost 45-48 psi after changing the fuel pump. Before it was 30.
    Now my question is will the P0171 code go away itself?

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  4 місяці тому

      30 PSI was definitely low, and it could have possibly caused that code.
      Was the car drivable before you replaced the fuel pump?
      And if it was, how did it drive and idle?

    • @I_am_Jawad
      @I_am_Jawad 4 місяці тому

      The car was driveable and probably took some time while accelerating in the initial gears but nothing too bad.

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  4 місяці тому

      @I_am_Jawad
      If it drives better after replacing the pump, then the code most likely won't come back. But you will have to clear it yourself.
      Sorry for the late reply.

    Good video. One question: what do you do when the fuel pump cover doesnt want to turn. Mine is stuck hard. I tried hammering it and also used a fuel pump spanner wrench. It just wont turn.

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  2 роки тому +2

      I haven't done one that wouldn't turn. Maybe two people hammering at the same time on opposite sides.

    My 2018 Corolla is having a rough start so you think it’s the fuel pump that’s needs replacing? It rough starts randomly when cold, when it’s warm it starts right up, 75k miles on it.

    • @Repairsbyctop

      Sounds like a bad intake gasket or something that seals when its warm.

    So where is the fuel filter?

    • @Repairsbyctop
      @Repairsbyctop  2 роки тому +1

      The fuel filter is considered a lifetime filter that should be replaced with the pump. It's the plastic section that the pump mounted in.
      It's best to replace the whole assembly when the pump goes bad that way everything gets replaced including the level sender.
      But in this case I'm just a parts changer so I only changed the part I was hired to change.
