  • What is MUN ( Model United Nation )? Terms and Procedure ( in Hindi ) | MUN Tutorial | #MUNkiBaat - 2
    Don't know anything about MUN? Want to attend a conference? We got it sorted for you.
    ______________________________
    Concepts in MUN
    ROLL CALL
    Say “Present and voting” if you’re voting
    Say “Present” if you’re abstaining to vote ( though you can choose whether to vote or not at the end )
    MOTION TO SET THE AGENDA
    Set the topic
    GENERAL SPEAKER’S LIST (GSL)
    It's your Opening Speech. Here delegates are given the opportunity to state the stances of their countries regarding the particular topic/agenda at discussion.
    You can talk about what your country has done or plan of actions it has with respect to the agenda.
    POINT OF INFORMATION (POI)
    When you want to ask another delegate a question, you raise POIs and after the Executive Board (EB) recognizes it, you can ask the delegate any question as long as it relates to the topic or what the delegate said in his/her speeches. But do keep in mind to keep the POI short and precise.
    REQUEST TO FOLLOW UP
    A point that can be raised immediately after you asked a question. It essentially means that you have a follow-up question that you would like to ask. Some delegates take this opportunity to ask a completely different question however that is not the case. If you raise a request to follow up, you make sure that your follow-up question is related to the original question you asked in your POI.
    RIGHT OF REPLY
    If a delegate has infringed your country’s sovereignty or has done a grave insult to your country/any representative authority of your country.
    POINT OF PARLIAMENTARY INQUIRY
    This is basically where you have a doubt or a question with regard to the procedure of the conference or you have a question with regard to what’s going to happen next or what will happen in the evening or any question with the committee's proceedings for that matter.
    POINT OF PERSONAL PRIVILAGE
    A point with regard to your personal comfort. You can ask to go outside, increase the air conditioner because it's too cold, or ask a delegate to speak louder because they are not audible.
    MODERATED CAUCUS
    A branch topic/sub-topic that is submitted to the house which holds relevance to the main agenda of discussion. It is a sub-topic that could contribute to the debate and discussion of the topic under consideration.
    POIs are usually suspended during this motion. There can only be speeches on the Moderated Caucus sessions.
    UNMODERATED CAUCUS (Break/Lobbying period)
    Where all the delegates sign off for a formal break wherein all the delegates split into different groups and they come up with different resolutions which align with their country’s policies and foreign interest. This is where resolutions are made and following this you move into resolution debate.
    This is the time period where you influence the committee and show your leadership.
    PAPER WORKS (WORKING PAPER/ PRESS RELEASE/ COMMUNIQUE/ RESOLUTION)
    Usually you will have 2 or 3 paperworks that come out from an unmoderated caucuses (Type of paperwork depends on what EB wants).
    You have speeches for your respective paperworks of the block and your work is to to defend the points of your paper work.
    MOTION TO INTRODUCE THE PAPERWORK
    OBTAIN THE FLOOR
    ENTERTAIN SPEECHES FOR AND AGAINST PAPERWORK(S)
    Regarding voting of Working Papers or Resolutions, you can be for, against, or abstain (if you have voted only "Present" during roll call). It all depends on your country’s interest and how it aligns with your country’s foreign policy.
    MOTION TO END THE SESSION
    A formal way to dismiss the session

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +6

      Hi Shivali. Hope you are doing good.
      Okay, so firstly as I tell everyone that your research needs to be as good as possible. You should actually be acquainted with everything that's happening in the world, and what happened, specially in Europe.
      You may not always get direct topics for searching. So keep on connecting the dots and incidents in a chronological order. Read articles and even you can take help of UA-cam documentaries if videos are more comfortable to you. Make notes of important points.
      We often tend to continue reading or watching even if we know that is not giving me extra information. Make sure to be aware of that. Don't read for the purpose of reading. Read for the purpose of knowing the maximum information. "Smart Read" is the term if I have to be accurate.
      The more you will have knowledge on everything, the more instantly you can respond in the committee; because your instantaneous questions are what makes everyone feel that you have a vast knowledge, and they accept you as your leader.
      Don't try to think of being a leader. Instead, lead by example. Lead by giving everyone a direction and planning. Interact with everyone during unmoderated caucus, and provide a Direction that will make everyone beleive in you.
      Remember you have to veey Diplomatic while talking to other delegates. Very very diplomatic. You have to convince everyone for discussing topics that may favour your nation, but also will be fruitful for other delegates and the committee itself, so that you get the support of everyone.
      And you will get that belief only when you actually have confidence in what you are saying, and you will get that confidence when you know what you are saying and have a proper direction for the committee. Always keep in mind - "You don't nominate yourself as a leader. People select you as their leader". Be the reason people view you as their leader.
      Some important points to keep in mind:
      1. Remember the Mandate, i.e., authority of the committee, which is UNGA. Study about it. Read what are the previous Actions taken. Read few resolutions passed by UNGA if possible. You will get an idea about the extent of measures you can suggest.
      2. Keep a Research about the negative points of your nation by which you can be questioned by other delegates. Prepare answers and backups so that you can defend that questions and it would be more influential if you can cross question the other delegate based on their question (only if you have the room for that. Don't be forceful, because you do mistakes when you try to do something by force).
      3. Be solution-oriented and if you are suggesting any solution, don't suggest anything in air without any practicalilty. When you are suggesting a solution, make sure you have proper practical planning ready that how the solution will be implemented rationally.
      4. Don't fear anything. Be confident in your approach.
      5. Use chits (these are small piece of papers containing questions which you write if the other speaker has no time left in his/her speech to yield for questions. So you write Point of Information in written format). However verbal POIs are more efficient. So whenever you get chance, try to ask questions orally.
      6. You may help everyone or maynot based on the foreign policies of your country but make sure to have your influence on the committee. Be so much sure about your gameplan that you automatically become influential.
      I know its your first MUN. You will do many mistakes. But don't get low due to that. Find where the mistakes are happening so that you can come up better. Don't be afraid of making mistakes. Be afraid of not participating. If you participate and make mistakes, it is a proof that you are growing. Cherish your growth. ✅
      BEST OF LUCK.

      @LifeCallsGuy  2 роки тому

      Research about all her past speeches. Watch her videos in UA-cam. Jot down the agenda of the party she represents and how her party contributed in the development of the country. If you find any errors in her previous speech, try to research and think of a counter with which you can reply if anyone questions you regarding that issue.
      The best way to get clarity is watching the session of Lok Sabha itself. Plenty of Lok Sabha sessions are available on UA-cam. Watch them. They will help you get through the process much easily.

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому

      Hi Vani.
      Resolution is a type of Working Paper which has a defined format, like name of the committee, agenda, name of the authors (i.e. Sponsors and Signatories) and the action plan which is supposed to be implemented after the whole debate in the committee. The action plan is written in the form of preambulatory and operative clauses, examples of which you will find on the Internet.
      Also, if you need more clarification, I have two dedicated videos on Working Papers and Resolution. You can check those videos available in this MUN Playlist.

    sir i have my first MUN in ECOSOC for the topic 'Economic and social challenges in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industrial Development) with special focus on economically developing nations' please share some tips

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      At first understand the committee and its mandate. ECOSOC deals with the direction and coordination of the economic, social, humanitarian, and cultural activities carried out by the UN.
      Then divide your research into two aspects:
      1. Your country's stance on the Industrial Development. History, international contribution, etc. Also research about the negative aspects and prepare some good arguments to counter that; because someone or the other will question you and no country is free of mistakes. So you must know the loopholes of your country and not only prepared to defend it, but also attack other countries.
      2. Research about other countries' and mainly their loopholes and mistakes. The more questions you ask in the Conference, the more score you get. So you must have a bucket if questions for other delegates to criticise them.
      Primary focus is on Developing Nations, so while questioning others explain how their activities harmed the developing nations economically, socially and culturally, i.e., connect your purpose to the Mandate & Agenda of the Committee.
      Adhere to the Mandate of the House and Foreign Policies of your country. If you say something, make sure that is not going opposite of what your Government is doing or is not related to the Mandate of the Committee.
      You will score points for:
      1. Active participation: Give as many speeches as you can depending on the no. of GSL & Mod. Caucuses. Do not refrain yourself from any opportunity to speak.
      2. POIs: Ask Logical Questions of Criticism to other delegates. If chits are allowed, write chits. Do not leave any opportunity to question other delegate.
      3. If you are sponsoring in a resolution, be prepared to defend your Points. You get good scores for a logical defense.
      If you are not in a resolution, ask logical questions to criticise each of the points of resolution. You get good marks in that too. Now it depends on you which strategy you want to apply.
      While researching, don't make big databases of paragraphs. Be very systematic and disciplined in research. Note the actual thing in 1 line pointer without making it big. If you just copy and paste the article paragraphs, you will mess up with the large amount of data. Writing short points will help you to cover a large variety of information in a small space.
      Lastly, don't get nervous. Be confident, and it will be a very good experience.
      ALL THE VERY BEST 💝

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      Thank you Tanmoy.
      Writing a good GSL speech means you should be able to connect to the Agenda and provide a viewpoint to the whole committee.
      According to my thought process, you can write your GSL in these three following ways depending on the timing of your speech
      1. Include more introduction to the topic and problem statement with your country's position, if you're the first speaker
      2. Include more counter arguments, defensive points for your country, your country's work in the Agenda and connect it to how it can be helpful in solving a problem, if you're in the middle of the speaker's list.
      3. Include only practical solutions, crux of the discussion of the whole debate and points you thinking to bring in resolution, if you're in few of the last speakers.
      Its more important to deliver the speech, staying strict on foreign policies and using right vocabularies and terms. Even if you speak less points but that are very strong quality points, that will do.
      And think two steps ahead of others, because the others are already thinking one step ahead of you.

      This too depends on who is organizing. Like it's a competition type of event. It is not regulated by any body.
      Like if you participate in a debate competition, the procedure will be determined by the organizer right, whether they want to make it free or charge something, when they want to conduct the event, etc.
      Like this MUN is also a simulation but a competitive event. It depends on the host whether they want to make it free or charge something.

      My topic is federal republic of Germany can you say what to research and how to make gsl on this

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  5 місяців тому

      Research depends on what's your agenda and portfolio. If you're researching for UNHRC try to read the resolutions passed and important documents from the database of world bank and offiial website of UNHRC.
      Connect the topic with the previous instruments, analyse the loopholes, find better solutions to address the topic and be aware of what's happening in the world. The more you research, the more in-depth knowledge you get.
      Just don't get stuck in the monotonous loop of reading. Try to analyse and connect the dots with various aspects within the agenda.
      For Germany, know where it stands on Human rights index, what rights does it supports and what are the criticism it faced, what message had Germany given to the World regarding Human rights (basically their present holistic stance on each pointers of human rights you should know). According to that you can prepare a GSL speech that clarifies German stance, and tries to give a solution to the problem statement reflected in your agenda (diplomatically in a way that is favorable for Germany).

      @@LifeCallsGuy my agenda is rights of refugees with respect to armed conflict

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  5 місяців тому

      Start researching on 1951 Convention.
      To begin with, first have a clear understanding of refugees. They have different definition than asylum or migration. Be clear with that.
      Then, research on different agencies related to human rights w.r.t refugees, e.g., UNRRA, UNRWA, IRO, etc.
      Then, you need to study the laws and protocols w.r.t. armed conflict, including what is the definition of armed conflict, how the rights of refugees are getting affected by the armed conflict, etc. You need to be very clear in all of these. E.g.: In any armed conflict, like Israel-Palestine conflict, refugees who used to stay in that place, who don't have lands, they either have to migrate or get killed without mercy.
      Research on Conventions like 1962 protocol on 1951 Convention, IHL - International Humanitarian Law (it is an important law in the UNHCR as it highlights the rights of any wounded people in an armed conflict), etc.
      For GSL, everyone has their own styles. But you may divide your speech into 3 parts if it's a 90 seconds GSL.
      Part 1: What is actually the problem, what is armed conflict, how the rights of refugees are affected
      Part 2: What your nation has potentially done or what is the possibile solution (is it ceasefire, Govt. interruption, can UN Police do anything?, etc.)
      Part 3: Support your stance with some rationals (e.g. case studies, i.e. previous works on these types of actions like UN Mission in Congo - the MONUSCO).
      That can be a complete GSL Speech, first the problem, second the solution and then what has been done previously or what your nation has done, from where the international community can take inspiration.
      For UNHCR research, you have ro begin from OHCHR, you have to get all the facts right.
      There are Amnisty International, IHL, The Practical Guide to Humanitarian Law, and Red Cross books as well. These are case books. Read more case studies to understand how things should move forward.
      There is IRL - International Refugee Law. Here, it is comprehensively mentioned how refugees should protect themselves in case of armed conflict or where and how they should go.
      And you have to be very clear with who is a refugee. E.g.: if a person is refugee before am armed conflict and if he/she has become a refugee after the armed conflict, then separate laws will work on both of them.

    Hellow sir, Could please tell me what are words for "raising the motion" 🙏

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому

      The Executive Board (EB) asks "Are there any Points on the Floor?" (If you have any Point of Information, Point of Parliamentary Enquiry, etc.), you will raise your hand/plackard, and the EB will choose one person at a time from everyone who has raised the hand and will say, "Delegate of [country X], you have been recognised. To what Point you rise?"
      Then you say "Point of Information/Parliamentary Enquiry/Personal Privilege" (whatever you want to rise), and then EB says something like "Granted/Go ahead/anything he/she feels like (no official terms)"... And then you go ahead with asking your Point.
      If there are no hands raised on asking for Points, or all Points are taken, then the EB continues with asking "Are there any Motions on the Floor?"
      Then you again raise your plackard. If EB recognises your country, you continue with raising your motion by saying "Motion to [XYZ]".
      Officiall statements of few motions are:
      1. "Motion to Open Debate" (This is the very First Motion needed to be introduced to start the committee)
      2. "Motion to Set the Agenda on the Topic [ABC]" (This Motion is used to set the Agenda for the session. Generally Agenda is already fixed earlier. The same Agenda is readed once more).
      3. "Motion to Open/Start GSL" (This Motion is used to begin the General Speaker's List so that delegates cam enroll their name in GSL. For many MUNs, you also have to say the time limit per speaker, and for many MUNs, EB only sets the time limit. Depends on the rule of procedure that is being followed for the MUN).
      4. "Motion to suspend formal debate and move into a Moderated Caucus on the Topic (KLM) for a total time of n minutes and per speaker time being m minutes" (Note: For UN for MUN rules of procedure, we say "Formal-informal session" instead of "Moderated Caucus" and we do not state any topic or per speaker time. We set only total time for a Fornal-Informal session.)
      5. "Motion to suspend formal debate & move into an Unmoderated Caucus for a total time of x minutes" (Similarly, if UN for MUN procedure is being followed in your committee, then you have to say "Informal-Informal session" instead of "Unmoderated Caucus").
      6. "Motion to extend the Moderated/Unmoderated Caucus with t minutes" (If you want to extend the time limit of the moderated/unmoderated caucus with extra t minutes after the previously set time limits have elapsed)
      7. "Motion to introduce Resolution no. ---" (For introducing your resolution in the Committee)
      8. "Motion to adjourn the committee" (For ending the committee's session)

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому

      UNGA means United Nations General Assembly. It is one of the most important and principle body of UN.
      Disarmament means the reduction or withdrawal of military forces and weapons.
      This agenda mainly focusses to reduce the amount of War weapons that a Nation possess, so that the threat to security of International Peace can be reduced. If all the countries reduce their weapons systematically with a set proportion every year, slowly the Threats of War will get lesser.
      This is the purpose of this Agenda.
      So you have to discuss and focus on the strategies so that Disarmament can occur practically in the Globe without making this a tool of dictatorship for powerful nations.

    is gsl opening speech?
    Moderate cacus is subtopic of agenda which can be raised by any delegate for starting any debate like main agenda is related religious caste so u can raise subtopic what this country did for it and what your country did? To gain points

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      Yes. GSL stands for General Speaking List. Usually, Executive Boards use this term to to list down the delegates who will be giving the speech. It is done in the Opening only. It is asked who are the delegates who want to speak on the given agenda. You have to raise your hand/plackard, and once you are recognised and have the floor, you can give your GSL speech.
      Yes. Such moderated caucus topics can be raised. But in MUN, everything is voted upon. So when you raise a Moderated Caucus topic, everyone is asked whether they support the sub-topic or not. Only when you get more than 50% vote on the sub-topic you said, then only committee enters into a Moderated Caucus mode. Otherwise normal GSL speeches proceeds as usual.

      Ohk thanks for swift response. Can you even give some tips to gain points what all to do?

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      Okay. From my experience, I can say -
      1. Be clear with your Foreign Policies. Don't mess up with that. Be clear with your country's stance and positioning.
      2. Raise logical Point of Information after a delegate completes his/her speech. Best way to earn point is if you can figure out a mistake in other's speeches (e.g. - If they make a statement which is opposing what their country's Govt. actually said, done or mentioned in their foreign policies). So try to be on a questioning mode. But don't do it forcefully, coz if you criticise without logic, that will lead to nothing but can trap you itself.
      3. Remember the Mandate of your committee while discussing a solution (Mandate means 'Authority' you can say. E.g. - Every committee of UN don't have the power to take direct actions. Hence, if you there suggest a direct action as solution, others will criticise you that this committee don't got that authority. Hence your positioning will get disbalanced.)
      4. Try to raise a Moderated Caucus and Unmoderated Caucus in intervals. Do lobbying in Unmoderated Caucus (lobbying means talking with other delegates. You need to have good relations with them, specially with your allies. Beacuse you need to understand their thought process and stance in order to choose a Mod. Cauc. topic which they want to discuss. Hence you get their votes prior only.) It will really fetch you points if you initiate moderated caucuses and give the first speech.
      5. Initiate a resolution and try to be the main author in the resolution, doing all formatting works. Make sure you write some effective solutions. Don't write something very common. Once we've written very common solutions which were later criticised. You need to mention best and most specific solution possible with the committee's mandate.
      6. Try to have all friendly nations to your country as signatories of the resolution. So, you get their votes. However it's not mandatory to have large no. of signatories unless you are confident enough that your points are actually not hurting more countries' major interest and you can get the votes for it. Your resolution needs to have this confidence and power.

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому

      Practice is the key boss. When I started public speakings and debate for the first time, I too get blank. Though none laughed.
      People don't have time for that bro. Tell me a thing suppose your friend slipped and falled in front of you, how long do you keep that thing in mind. If someone doesn't do well in any event, do you get any concern for that, or you are thinking about yourself that how I can give my best. Everyone fears that others will laugh, but none does that except the ones having nothing to do in life.
      Therefore
      Step 1 - Remove that myth that your failure will occupy someone's mind
      Step 2 - Do not expect overnight results. I used to stay blank in 2018s when I participated in public speakings. I stayed blank but still I participated in every possible event and stood blank. Now, in 2022 I can speak properly but still many errors to fix. Still I am much confident now than before. So you have to participate to fail. Don't participate and expect something extraordinary result. Just give your 100%
      Step 3- Think about any topic you can speak about. Your ownself? Your best friend? Your favourite sports/singer/movie/UA-cam? If you can speak about a single thing in the world, that means you can speak about ANYTHING in the World.
      Step 4- Gather information. In the previous step, you were able to speak because you had the most information about that particular thing. This makes us conclude that we can speak about a thing when we have information about that thing.
      Step 5- Start talking with teachers, and classmates you don't like or are more smarter than you. Talking to someone you don't want to, will help you breka the comfort zone.
      Step 6- In MUN, you can actually read and tell if your research is proper. You don't have to memorize, but you must know what's happening around otherwise you won't be able to connect or give a sudden input during the session. Hence, just research about the topic and watch/read it as you watch/read your favourite topic. Not for learning but for knowing.
      Step 7- Everyday, watch one video in UA-cam from any channel about improving communication skills and stage fear. Everyday consistently, just one video. And everyday, practice speaking for 5 minutes about any topic you want. You can record it in your phone also, or can call a genuine friend in video call to give you a topic, whom you knoe he/she can help whole-heartedly.
      And in the end, I will say I was also like this. If I can improve myself even an inch that you (whom I don't know) found me helpful to ask this question and ask solutions from, then WHY CAN'T YOU?

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      Hi Parul. How are you? I hope all good.
      Okay so at first understand the Agenda. Since it deals with Cyber Security, make your research related to that. Focus on what your country has done, and the other countries (present in your committee) are doing to protect user database.
      Divide your Research process in three parts:
      1. Understanding the Committee and the Foreign Policies of your country. Do not say anything which is opposing to what your country said or did earlier. Then it will be like your country is saying two different things in an official public platform. Have a complete grip of your country and its policies.
      2. The Agenda itself where you research about the Solutions. What advancement can be done to bring tightness in Cyber Security, what practical strategies can be implemented, how can it be done, etc. Make sure to not go beyond the Mandate of your committee while stating solutions.
      3. Loopholes and Negative Actions or Innacuracy in Implementing Policies.
      First Research it for your country, so you can counter the question thrown at you.
      Then, research the same for other countries present in your committee, so that you can question other delegates too.
      MUN is all about how much you are active in the committee.
      The more you speak, the more you will be able to influence others.
      Speak in all GSL & Mod. Cauc. possible. Do not leave an opportunity to ask questions and criticise the other nations. With logic ofc.
      Give some practical solutions and do not violate the Foreign Policies of your country.
      Lobby during Unmoderated Caucuses and even during informal conversations with other delgates outside the committee.
      Have a gameplan and Direction to lead the committee. You should be naturally convincing and shouldn't appear as you're forcing something for your propaganda. You should be having that reputation and belief that everyone have conviction in your direction.
      And that is achieved when you know what you're doing and you have a grip over the Agenda and all knowledge related to it. So when someone sees that you have more knowledge, they automatically accept you as their leader.
      Participate in debates during resolutions. If you're in a resolution, try answering the Questions thrown.
      If you're not in a resolution and an other resolution is made, question each and every point with logical criticism.
      Both strategies gets your scores but you've to be
      i) Active in debate
      ii) Know what you're saying
      ALL THE VERY BEST. 🔥

    Sir Kindly tell me a brief note on moderated caucus?

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  3 роки тому +1

      Moderated Caucus topics are raised to discuss other aspects of the agenda. Like when you discuss a topic, it becomes necessary to have a clear idea of other things going around which may be a side part of the agenda.
      E.g., suppose you are discussing on "How to improve the conditions of refugee crisis in the World". Here, if you don't discuss other topics like Condition of Refugees in various countries, important subtopics like Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh, any major incident occured in last decade, use of certain technologies for solutions, then you won't get a clearer picture of the scenario.
      In order to come up with a solution, you need to cover every branches and sub-issues. If the topic is pollution, then all subtopics like Increasing Nuclear technology, e-waste, etc., all needs to be discussed.
      Therefore, Moderated Caucus is raised to discuss a subtopic in order to cover different branches of the main agenda. Moderated Caucus means a sub-agenda in simple words.
      ( There is no Point of Information in Moderated Caucus. Time per speaker of a Moderated Caucus topic cannot exceed per speaker time of the main speech )

      If you are discussing a topic at international level, you have to provide practical solutions based on international laws and WHO's mandate.
      Provide the solutions connecting both Switzerland's policies and International laws.

      It is not an actual United Nations but a simulation and the topic is predecided. So everyone has to vote for the topic. In United Nations, any topics can be raised but here only the topic assigned has to be raised and everyone by default has to vote for it.
      And in the other motions like Mod. Cauc. topic also, since you all are discussing an issue. So no one generally opposes a new topic unless he / she has something more imp. topic for the committee.
      When you will make resolution, that time you have to be very much precise and make sure to add some actual solutions to the problem which will be voted by the majority.

      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      Firstly study the mandate/authority of UNHRC. It is not as powerful as UNGA or UNSC. So, you have to provide the statements and your solutions accordingly.
      For research,
      1. Know your country's stance in Human rights very well. You must be prepared to counter the questions thrown at you with rationality.
      2. Understand Russia Ukraine scenario, how it is connected to violation of Human rights and how the issue is affecting Iran.
      3. You should try to manipulate the committee, without sounding that you are against anyone (coz you will require everyone's support), to discuss the mod. cauc. topics that will favour your country, and you must have reasons that why discussing such things are more important for the committee.
      4. Be prepared very well in order to turn the table by cross-questioning another delegate who is questioning you about an issue where Iran is in negative side, e.g. - Women's rights and Hijab controversy. Basically you should have that DIPLOMATIC SKILLS to gain other's support. Even if you are targetted hy everyone, you can tackle that situation so well, that everyone respects you as an opposition too. This should be the approach.
      Have a proper gameplan and be precisely acquainted with what's happening in the World. The more research you have (in terms of practical knowledge about Global affairs), the more chances you have to speak and put your stance properly and give a tough competition.

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      To introduce any mod. cauc. topic, you need to be able to convince others and state the importance to them. Its not about what you want to introduce, because you can introduce literally anything you want. But the question is whether other delegates will vote for it or not. Hence you require to know what you are proposing and be able to explain to others that why your mod. cauc. topic would be more important and fruitful to discuss than other sub-topics.

      In a MUN session, the topic is only called as 'Agenda'. So your agenda is only the topic. However normally in a committee, only one agenda is discussed. You can formally introduce the 2nd agenda but to promote a complete discussion, the delegates usually sticks to one agenda only throughout a session.
      Sub-topics may be introduced though.
      You may confirm with your EB (Executive Board) that what is the Agenda that they want the committee to follow.

      Write your research in points. Don't write big paragraphs. Just a short, clear and precise explanation of whichever points you want to highlight. In MUN, you can actually give your speech by looking at your research paper. So you don't need to take pressures of memorising anything.
      Instead of memorising, research with genuine interest of getting knowledge. Then you will actually be able to recall important points during various situations.
      I have a proper playlist made for MUN and in 4th video of the series I have explained how to do your research effectively. You can check that as its not possible to say everything in comments 😅
      I will just say that be very precise. Don't repeat the same kind of sentences just for killing time. Go with the intention that you want to contribute a solution and be solution-oriented while speaking.

      Yemen is a country who has high concerns for Women's rights including lack of mobility, disparity in work opportunities and education. Due to tribal laws and beliefs, traditions and customs, women are not considered equal to men as a social belief.
      You will be questioned a lot, so you have to prepare accordingly with a suitable strong answer for the possible questions.
      Highlight the improvements done in recent years and also what action plan Yemen will be taking to solve the problems.
      You can also read more from these sources:
      www.undp.org/yemen/gender-equality

      You can know and read about your committee from here:
      www.unwomen.org/en/csw
      Thought how digital age and technology can help to achieve gender equality in your country, keeping in view the monetary and social aspects.
      You cam present different arguments, challenge the hypocrisy of different nations, and get valuable marks for defending the questions which will be asked to you.
      Research properly, connecting the committee, agenda, and your country to solutions.

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +3

      Look, see it as a cycle race. What you are nervous at is that you don't have practice and you may fall. And this is a real fact, not a hypothetical situation. But does that mean we shouldn't try?
      We must not to be the best of the world in one day, but for the purpose that when you will participate for the second time, your future self will thank you; because due to your efforts today, the person will be at Level 2 on that day and not at Level 1.
      Now, the question is how to do the practice and prepare for it?
      For any speech or discussion, information is the real power. The more you know, the less nervous your mind will become and the more impactful you will be.
      Therefore, the strategy I would suggest is read Brazil's history from World War II to 2000.
      Brazil acceded to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) on 18 September 1998.
      Brazil signed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) on 24 September 1996 and ratified it on 24 July 1998.
      However Brazil supports nuclear power for generation of electricity.
      The complexity in Brazil is in its political instability it has from 1940s to 1990s. Due to shift in Govt. at various point of time,, the country saw lots of policy changes and shifts in international relations. However it maintained good relations with USA averagely.
      In 1960s Brazil opposed NPT and continued a secret nuclear weapon base which was dismantled in 1990 after the Govt. changed.
      It opposed the NPT during the Cold war period as it felt NPT is discriminatory in nature and disowns the sovereignty of an independent state.
      (You will understand it better after reading about the Treaty. It was basically few countries like USA, China, UK, USSR can keep nuclear weapons but other nations has to stop their nuclear programmes).
      Now, your stance as Brazil depends on what is the freeze date of your MUN.
      If your MUN is based on a hypothetical situation that you are representing Brazil in any date of 1960s, then you have to give your stance based on what Brazil's actions and stances were on that date.
      However, if you are on the current date, i.e. your committee is operating in 2023, then you can put forward present stance of Brazil.
      Brazil had a lot of progressive development, took part in peacekeeping missions of UN, helped America at various fronts by providing soldiers, and also raised voice for reducing nuclear weapons.
      Now you must be asking how to do research.
      Read articles in Google in a systematic manner. Breakdown the topic. If you breakdown, it will bring individual terms like "Brazil", "Cold War", "Nuclear Weapons", "Non-Proliferation", etc. and you have to know individually about them like a story, so as to build a bridge.
      E.g.: Imagine you are reading about your family, like about your father, then you study how he met your mother, then you connect the dots with what's happening in your family today, thereby building a complete picture.
      Do the same thing for your research. Search individually and read articles on the same. Read historical events, facts, figures, agreements and numerical datas.
      While reading, you will get different terminologies and name of different treaties, per se. Then with that hyperlink you go and search what that is. After understanding that, you come back again to the article to complete it.
      It means that don't just read it for the sake of it. Understand what the context is, and then create branches to connect various aspects of the story.
      All the best!

So you can say that how much your Nation had contributed positively on the topic, and so on.

      So in this delegates of India will just go and speak like giving a min speech and then come back followed by other delegates or we will've debate on this ABC topic with delegates of other nations for 10 min with 1 min speaking time...
      If second case then who will speak in favor or who will speak in against....

      @LifeCallsGuy  Рік тому +1

      No. The first one is more accurate. You propose a motion to move into a moderated caucus stating the topic, total time and per speaker time.
      Then first, that is voted on. Everyone is asked whether they are in favour of that mod. cauc or not. If more than 50% votes in favour, then only the mod. cauc. is accepted otherwise declined.
      After the mod. cauc is accepted, by default generally the one who proposes the motion is aked to speak first.
      There is no Point of Information like GSL. Just one delegate speech followed by other without any questions on their respective speeches.
      How will you interpret the topic and link connection with the main agenda, that's completely up to the respective delegates.

    • @LifeCallsGuy
      @LifeCallsGuy  3 роки тому

      It is not any official or centralised kinda stuff. It is just a simulation. Like any normal competition, it is also held by different Colleges, Universities and Organizations. Anyone can host it.

      Ok. So first of all don't get nervous. When you are experiencing something for the first time, you should always be confident, and focus on learning. Don't be afraid to make mistakes but learn from them.
      Before the conference, do extensive research about the topic, more research on solutions of the topic and even more research about your country. You should have a complete grip and know everything like currencies, Government, Diplomatic relations of your country, etc.
      Know all the motions, and points used during the conference. Write them for better understanding
      During the conference, stay alert. Listen to the Chairperson and other delegates carefully. In MUN, you can give your speech by seeing the writing. So write your first speech.
      WE HAVE MADE OTHER VIDEOS LIKE "HOW TO BE THE BEST DELEGATE IN MUN" & "HOW TO RESEARCH IN MUN". KINDLY VISIT OUR PLAYLIST & WATCH THOSE VIDEOS.
      After watching those, still if you got more doubts, I will give more tips, resources and suggestions to you. Just Write your doubts in the comments after watching those💙
      And focus on learning. It's all about practice. It's okay if you do not speak like Sandeep Maheshwari or big speakers. Just don't stay quiet. Participate actively. Go with a learning attitude. I assure that You will rock it. 💙

      The organization from where you have registered should have given you the instructions. Read that carefully and act accordingly. If not, just write a query mail asking about the further proceedings!

      I had already made a video about Researching in MUN. You will get that in the Playlist of my Channel. ✌️🌻
      If you want some more tips, I will say -
      i) Gather every info about the stance, i.e, take of Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology by Iran.
      ii) Be a hardcore Iranian, and follow all Govt. Articles, Social Media Pages and Newsletters of Iraninan newspapers.
      iii) Follow UNCTAD, and its respective handles to know what's going on in the actual committee.
      iv) Do research on Iran, and on the other hand do research about the stance of other countries on the concerned agenda.
      v) Make sure to make a flow and planning before the MUN based on your purpose.
      vi) Practice the Art of Lobbying, i.e., making groups, interacting with others and leading by example & direction.
      Hope this helps. Best of Luck. Be confident with your actions. It will be a good session. ❤️✌️
