Hey Kevin, Power lines put out a magnetic field of a 50ft radius around the wire. Remember when your parents were listening to AM radio, and you heard static driving under power lines? That magnetic field interferes with radio frequency i.e. cellphones (800htz) etc. It can also mess with GPS calibration. I spent about an hour trying to calibrate my Mini 4 Pro and RC 2 one night. Then I realized that I was 40ft from some high-tension wires. I moved away from them and was able to fly. Trust me... I was a cellphone tech for 10 years. Cheers, Brendan

The number of satellites seemed really good though and they stayed locked in the whole time. Does that mean anything or is that number of satellites not relevant when so close to wires like this? @@WeretheRoberts Hi Kevin. It seems to me that the satellite lock and the radio frequency are separate signals. Maybe it would be a good test to fly within a magnetic field and see if the number of satellites change. In a safe area of course. When I'm sitting under power lines and my compass or Garman is off 180 degrees, I know I'm in a magnetic field. My last Garman always did that! When I left a delivery and was under wires, I turned the wrong way 90% of the time!

I’d say the Mini 2 is by far my favorite drone. There’s something about the simple things it offers and with Maven we can pretty much do whatever the Mini 4 pro does with exception of obstacle avoidance and a couple other things. Shoot there’s even some things the 2 can do the 4 can’t! lol There’s a video idea, eh? Anyway, we can’t thank you enough and the fact that you acknowledged the scripture means the world. lol yea man this place was awesome to fly again. It does seem like we keep having at least one problem with each flight on any of our drones so I’d say the common denominator would be KEVIN! Lol I guess that’s what makes it We’re the Roberts, eh? lol I do agree about the antennas. It makes DJI look that much better when you don’t even have to extend the antennas to get a signal. I’ve caught a lot of flack about forgetting them but I’m not perfect and my pre flight checklist was burned in the fire. Or wait. Maybe the dog ate it. Either way, my checklist is MIA. lol. Hey Kevin. Right at the beginning of the video, your RC 2 was showing a compass calibration was required. Around 3:03 maybe that contributed to the tests. Some great views out there in Florida man. Keep up the good work. 👍
lol who knows. I looked back at the video and never saw the compass calibration required notification. All I saw was a take off with caution. lol. If I can’t see it when I can pause and look for it, how would anyone expect me to see it in a live feed? Hahaha. Oh and yea this was a really cool place to fly. If you look closely at those tanks you can see a bunch of dolphins. lol. I couldn’t see them in my phone though.

Hi Kevin and Kristi, Yep that verse is spot on. Dwight's errant ways were caught and corrected by a much higher power; even than those powerlines !. Have just updated the app on my mobile. Next; the app on my Samsung T8 tablet. Then pull out my Air 2 and check out the settings. But sadly cannot fly as I'm under the nearby airfield's approach path. Sigh. My goodness!!!! Kevin!!, a retirement countdown?. Does this then mean that Kristi you will have to keep working; to keep Kevin in the lifestyle to which he anticipates becoming accustomed to?. I’ve been waiting and waiting for this new app (1.13.10) to come available for my iPhone so I can fly Rose with it but it’s still on the 1.13.8. Not sure what the hold up is. lol. @@WeretheRoberts Have you checked with say Gavin, and "Ian in London" if they have seen or have early access to an ipod version app?. Both my Samsung 1.13.10 app updates appear ok. I haven’t checked with them on this but I have talked with a few others who say it’s strictly for android devices still and iOS devices are just out of luck for now. It’s ok. Maybe by the next update all the bugs will be worked out and the update wil work right. Hahahaha. Who am I kidding?
Kevin, love your drone videos. You will love retirement. Try launching the drone away from the truck on the ground, (using the launch pad) and see if the landing is more precise.
That’s a great idea Fred and it’s in the list of things to try. It’s always hit and miss with this drone lately, eh? One flight something will go bad, then the next flight that thing is fixed but something else is messed up. That initial launch with the gimbal shake like it did was freaky but it happens every so often. It seems to do it more often when I’m just flying for fun than for a video but it did happen once when we did a waypoints test. I remember that. lol.

lol I was hoping the truck was a little further off the road, too. I’ve flown there a few times but that little parking lot has been empty so I was able to go all the way to the intracoastal side and be at least 50 feet from the road. I'm not sure if the coast guard would show up on flight radar(an app that shows flights) most military flights do not show up. It shows plane type and altitude and other info, it helps to know what flights are in the area, I love the circle shot I use that alot, flags, old buildings.
Oh heck yea that’s a great idea. Kristi has an app on her phone for that and checks on planes and choppers that fly over our house. It’s really something I’ve not considered doing when I show up to a spot to fly but I think I’m gonna take your advice and add that to my rather long preflight list. I may remember. Hahaha. I always wipe all the sensors and obstacle avoidance sensors with a lens wipe before taking off as even a fingerprint on the landing sensor can stop the drone landing back on its spot
Now that’s a great idea, Gary. I have never wiped the sensors off so it’s probably about time I do that. They probably have all kinds of smudges on them. I’m gonna put this in the list of things to test for sure. Thanks for the advice, brother!

Stuck the landing in the end!!!🥳 I did the update just as Nobby was announcing it! Updated in the profile setting section and worked first time. 😎 Quick flight test all working fine. Returned to home and was Slinky’s usual 2inches off . To be fair the pad is not level so I think that the reason for the 2 inches 😂. Great tests Kevin!!! Happy weekend!! 🐝👍🐈⬛🐾

Kristi’s been retired for 7 years and she has may have it figured out so maybe she can teach me. Hahaha. The plan so far is to take the first year off and do a lot of traveling. Then we’ll probably move closer to family sometime after that and I’ll probably go back to work. Hahaha. I’m hoping the drone business takes off in the mean time. lol thanks for watching and always commenting, buddy. We’ve lived in Florida since the 90s but have family in both WV and Iowa that we often visit. The last few years we’ve recorded videos while we’ve been in both places and it’s been a lot of fun sharing different places in here. I spent a few months in WV last summer with my parents while my mom was recovering from a surgery so it seemed like we may have moved there but no, we’re still in FL. (For now lol). We’ll be doing some traveling after I retire though so I’m really looking forward to that.

Hi there, great video as usual. I have to ask, I am looking at getting one of those sun visors like the one you have in this video and I have noticed that you also have the metal neck-strap bar fitted too. Are the fixture screws for the sun visor and the strap bar using the same holes?
Awesome! Thank you so much for watching and taking time to comment. I can say without a doubt you won’t regret getting the visor. I have it more to protect the sticks in the case but it does help with the sun sometimes. That bar on the back is actually part of a bicycle mount that attaches to the handlebar, too but I use it more as a kickstand right now. lol. I haven’t had time to try it on the scooter yet. Soon though!!! Haha. Anyway, yes the 2 attachments use the same screw holes and the screws that came with the bike mount kit are a smidge longer and fit through bath products. It’s pretty cool they thought of that and it works like a charm. I haven’t noticed the screws backing out yet but if they do I may add some blue lock tight stuff to secure it better. Oh I almost forgot. Having that shad on the controller sort of puts the antennas out of view so I forget to extend them most of the time. lol. It’s a Kevin thing. Haha
I just updated the new update and had the same outcome as nobby green 😮 the first part took about 20 minutes and put me back to 1.13.09, and the second update only took a couple of seconds back to 1.13.10 😮😊
Wow that’s really weird. I can’t explain why that happens but someone did mention maybe the 1.13.10 had a bug and this was their way of fixing it. That makes some sense, eh?
When I did a RTH onto the hood of my truck, the drone started to come down off point, until it got to the height I had paused after takeoff. At that level, it corrected and landed within a couple of inches from the takeoff point. Don't know why it yours was so far off on the first try. Could be related to the non-reflective nature of your truck cover. If you watch the video when you first started the POI flight, you can see dolphins in the circular tank closest to the drone. Not jumping, just swimming.
I never really noticed the drone correcting itself at the height I stopped going up as you mention, but looking back, that seems like what Dwight normally does, too. I think he may have done just that on the second RTH flight, too. I’m gonna keep my eyes on that next time and see if it does it every time or if it’s just a coincidence. Awesome info, man! It’s funny you mentioned seeing those dolphins. I noticed them when I was editing the video. They must’ve been on a break. lol. I need to get their schedule and go out there when they’re doing a show.

Anywho, I had Aerith out yesterday, not quite sure how to use the footage though, it's just a bunch of trees! Lol! I turnt my landing pad over to the orange side too, she landed right on it. 3:37 There is an even more recent firmware for the RC2 (v02.02.0300), and this one comes with DJI Fly v1.13.9 !! So apparently a DJI Fly v1.13.10 has some issues. You can update to DJI Fly v1.13.10 after the RC2 v02.02.0300 firmware update. (Most likely this version of DJI Fly v1.13.10 has the issues fixed)
lol these updates (fly app, firmware, Rc controller) seem to never stop!!! I seriously do remember a time where there didn’t seem to be any updates for several months but then BOOM! Non stop. lol. Do you happen to know what issues this newest one fixes? I really think my issues this flight were user error but I can’t figure out what I did wrong yet. That’s usually the case. I've been reading on the DJI Forums many are having a lot of issues after updating the firmware on the Mini 4 Pro. Some are being asked to send it in and get a replacement. So I don't know if the firmware is bricking the drone or what. I was planning on getting the Mini 4 Pro but now I don't know.
Ahhhhh man I wouldn’t let that scare you too much. I still have faith in these drones even though there may be some minor issues. Those major issues are really few and far between and honestly some of them are exaggerated. Heck if you have the DJI care/refresh or if the warranty is still in place and DJI is willing to replace the drone if a major issue comes up, there’s really no risk. Of course that’s all just my opinion and I’m not even close to an expert. Lol. I’m actually the opposite of an expert at most things. Hahaha. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, buddy. Could the distance be off because it measures the distance you set to the home point (1946) in the back of the truck and the other distance (1931) to the controller?

After I record videos with the mini 4 pro , I put the s.d card in the tablet, but a message pops up " not a supported file " can someone please help me fix the issue ? Thanks
Wow that sucks! I don’t have a tablet or iPad so I’ve not seen that exact message come across before. I have seen something similar when I put the card into my computer though. It’s never caused a problem with the files for me. The first time it happened I saw the message and was trying to understand what I was reading but by the time I understood it, the message went away and the files loaded like normal. Have you tried putting the disk into a computer rather than a tablet by any chance? Maybe it’s something inside the tablet rather than the card itself?

I used to use the UAV forecast app which was awesome but they made it a paid app and I started to kind of boycott. lol. The Air data app is free and you can look way in the future for forecasts plus you can check controlled air space and stuff as well. It’s a cool app.
Since I started playing with Fixed winged UAS, I've Not had any DJI issues. Why have so many Praised them so Highly just to be manipulated by them. DJI is NOT your Friend people..

I believe it did but I can’t confirm because I only have the Mini 4 pro. It was a fly app update so it was more for the RC 2 controller. I think I misspoke on the video though inferring the aircraft and RC had updates, too but looking back,’it was just the Fly app. 1.13.10,” update.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be busy, too with all these projects that have been pending lately. All I know is Kristi’s been retired for 7 years and with me retiring in 2 months she said she only has 2 months to find a job. Hahaha. Just kidding. She said she’ll walk me through the retirement process and see what happens. I’m hoping it takes. lol. The plan for now is to take the first 12 months totally off and do a lot of traveling. Heck yea!

I’d say the Mini 2 is by far my favorite drone. There’s something about the simple things it offers and with Maven we can pretty much do whatever the Mini 4 pro does with exception of obstacle avoidance and a couple other things. Shoot there’s even some things the 2 can do the 4 can’t! lol There’s a video idea, eh? Anyway, we can’t thank you enough and the fact that you acknowledged the scripture means the world. That’s definitely the most important part of any of our videos and our prayer is that someone (at least 1 person) will understand the message and find the Lord. lol yea man this place was awesome to fly again. It does seem like we keep having at least one problem with each flight on any of our drones so I’d say the common denominator would be KEVIN! Lol I guess that’s what makes it We’re the Roberts, eh? lol I do agree about the antennas. It makes DJI look that much better when you don’t even have to extend the antennas to get a signal. I’ve caught a lot of flack about forgetting them but I’m not perfect and my pre flight checklist was burned in the fire. Or wait. Maybe the dog ate it. Either way, my checklist is MIA. lol. Hey Kevin. Right at the beginning of the video, your RC 2 was showing a compass calibration was required. Around 3:03 maybe that contributed to the tests. Some great views out there in Florida man. Keep up the good work. 👍
lol who knows. I looked back at the video and never saw the compass calibration required notification. All I saw was a take off with caution. lol. If I can’t see it when I can pause and look for it, how would anyone expect me to see it in a live feed? Hahaha. Oh and yea this was a really cool place to fly. If you look closely at those tanks you can see a bunch of dolphins. lol. I couldn’t see them in my phone though.

Have just updated the app on my mobile. Next; the app on my Samsung T8 tablet. Then pull out my Air 2 and check out the settings. But sadly cannot fly as I'm under the nearby airfield's approach path. Sigh.

I’ve been waiting and waiting for this new app (1.13.10) to come available for my iPhone so I can fly Rose with it but it’s still on the 1.13.8. Not sure what the hold up is. lol. Maybe it’ll come out soon. Oh, don’t let Kristi fool you man. She’s been retired for 7 years and fortunately we’re both accustomed to being poor. Hahaha. @@WeretheRoberts Have you checked with say Gavin, and "Ian in London" if they have seen or have early access to an ipod version app?. Both my Samsung 1.13.10 app updates appear ok. But of course that's without flying it.
It will be interesting along the way as you transition into whatever the future (and God! ) has in store for you.

I haven’t checked with them on this but I have talked with a few others who say it’s strictly for android devices still and iOS devices are just out of luck for now. It’s ok. Maybe by the next update all the bugs will be worked out and the update wil work right. Hahahaha. Who am I kidding?
Kevin, love your drone videos. You will love retirement. Try launching the drone away from the truck on the ground, (using the launch pad) and see if the landing is more precise.
That’s a great idea Fred and it’s in the list of things to try. It’s always hit and miss with this drone lately, eh? One flight something will go bad, then the next flight that thing is fixed but something else is messed up. That initial launch with the gimbal shake like it did was freaky but it happens every so often. It seems to do it more often when I’m just flying for fun than for a video but it did happen once when we did a waypoints test. I remember that. lol.

lol I was hoping the truck was a little further off the road, too. I’ve flown there a few times but that little parking lot has been empty so I was able to go all the way to the intracoastal side and be at least 50 feet from the road. I'm not sure if the coast guard would show up on flight radar(an app that shows flights) most military flights do not show up. It shows plane type and altitude and other info, it helps to know what flights are in the area, I love the circle shot I use that alot, flags, old buildings.
Oh heck yea that’s a great idea. Kristi has an app on her phone for that and checks on planes and choppers that fly over our house. It’s really something I’ve not considered doing when I show up to a spot to fly but I think I’m gonna take your advice and add that to my rather long preflight list. I may remember. Hahaha. I always wipe all the sensors and obstacle avoidance sensors with a lens wipe before taking off as even a fingerprint on the landing sensor can stop the drone landing back on its spot
Now that’s a great idea, Gary. I have never wiped the sensors off so it’s probably about time I do that. They probably have all kinds of smudges on them. I’m gonna put this in the list of things to test for sure. Thanks for the advice, brother!

Stuck the landing in the end!!!🥳 I did the update just as Nobby was announcing it! Updated in the profile setting section and worked first time. 😎 Quick flight test all working fine. Returned to home and was Slinky’s usual 2inches off . To be fair the pad is not level so I think that the reason for the 2 inches 😂.

Kristi’s been retired for 7 years and she has may have it figured out so maybe she can teach me. Hahaha. The plan so far is to take the first year off and do a lot of traveling. Then we’ll probably move closer to family sometime after that and I’ll probably go back to work. Hahaha. I’m hoping the drone business takes off in the mean time. lol thanks for watching and always commenting, buddy. We’ve lived in Florida since the 90s but have family in both WV and Iowa that we often visit. The last few years we’ve recorded videos while we’ve been in both places and it’s been a lot of fun sharing different places in here. I spent a few months in WV last summer with my parents while my mom was recovering from a surgery so it seemed like we may have moved there but no, we’re still in FL. (For now lol). We’ll be doing some traveling after I retire though so I’m really looking forward to that.

I’m pretty sure it all comes down to user error but I can at least try to blame the updates, right? Haha. We are in NE Florida and this video was filmed in Marineland, FL. Just south of St. Augustine. Definitely a cool spot to fly.

Hi there, great video as usual. I have to ask, I am looking at getting one of those sun visors like the one you have in this video and I have noticed that you also have the metal neck-strap bar fitted too. Are the fixture screws for the sun visor and the strap bar using the same holes?
Awesome! Thank you so much for watching and taking time to comment. I can say without a doubt you won’t regret getting the visor. I have it more to protect the sticks in the case but it does help with the sun sometimes. That bar on the back is actually part of a bicycle mount that attaches to the handlebar, too but I use it more as a kickstand right now. lol. I haven’t had time to try it on the scooter yet. Soon though!!! Haha. Anyway, yes the 2 attachments use the same screw holes and the screws that came with the bike mount kit are a smidge longer and fit through bath products. It’s pretty cool they thought of that and it works like a charm. I haven’t noticed the screws backing out yet but if they do I may add some blue lock tight stuff to secure it better. Oh I almost forgot. Having that shad on the controller sort of puts the antennas out of view so I forget to extend them most of the time. lol. It’s a Kevin thing. Haha
I just updated the new update and had the same outcome as nobby green 😮 the first part took about 20 minutes and put me back to 1.13.09, and the second update only took a couple of seconds back to 1.13.10 😮😊
Wow that’s really weird. I can’t explain why that happens but someone did mention maybe the 1.13.10 had a bug and this was their way of fixing it. That makes some sense, eh?
When I did a RTH onto the hood of my truck, the drone started to come down off point, until it got to the height I had paused after takeoff. At that level, it corrected and landed within a couple of inches from the takeoff point. Don't know why it yours was so far off on the first try. Could be related to the non-reflective nature of your truck cover.
If you watch the video when you first started the POI flight, you can see dolphins in the circular tank closest to the drone. Not jumping, just swimming.
I never really noticed the drone correcting itself at the height I stopped going up as you mention, but looking back, that seems like what Dwight normally does, too. I think he may have done just that on the second RTH flight, too. I’m gonna keep my eyes on that next time and see if it does it every time or if it’s just a coincidence. Awesome info, man! It’s funny you mentioned seeing those dolphins. I noticed them when I was editing the video. They must’ve been on a break. lol. I need to get their schedule and go out there when they’re doing a show.

Anywho, I had Aerith out yesterday, not quite sure how to use the footage though, it's just a bunch of trees! Lol! I turnt my landing pad over to the orange side too, she landed right on it. But I've not conducted a scientific test yet, and probably won't because I'm not a scientist! Ha Ha Ha (Show Kristi my attempt at a humorous comment, and then let me konw how unimpressed she looks. 3:37 There is an even more recent firmware for the RC2 (v02.02.0300), and this one comes with DJI Fly v1.13.9 !!
So apparently a DJI Fly v1.13.10 has some issues.
You can update to DJI Fly v1.13.10 after the RC2 v02.02.0300 firmware update.
(Most likely this version of DJI Fly v1.13.10 has the issues fixed)
lol these updates (fly app, firmware, Rc controller) seem to never stop!!! I seriously do remember a time where there didn’t seem to be any updates for several months but then BOOM! Non stop. lol. I've been reading on the DJI Forums many are having a lot of issues after updating the firmware on the Mini 4 Pro. Some are being asked to send it in and get a replacement. So I don't know if the firmware is bricking the drone or what. I was planning on getting the Mini 4 Pro but now I don't know.
Ahhhhh man I wouldn’t let that scare you too much. I still have faith in these drones even though there may be some minor issues. Those major issues are really few and far between and honestly some of them are exaggerated. Heck if you have the DJI care/refresh or if the warranty is still in place and DJI is willing to replace the drone if a major issue comes up, there’s really no risk. Of course that’s all just my opinion and I’m not even close to an expert. Lol. I’m actually the opposite of an expert at most things. Hahaha. Thanks so much for watching and commenting, buddy. Oh wow I hadn’t heard that before. I put that controller cover on the RC2 a while back and man, it seems like I forget those antennas way more often than. I remember them now. That cover blocks them from my view so out of sight out of mind, right? Lol

After I record videos with the mini 4 pro , I put the s.d card in the tablet, but a message pops up " not a supported file " can someone please help me fix the issue ? Thanks
Wow that sucks! I don’t have a tablet or iPad so I’ve not seen that exact message come across before. I have seen something similar when I put the card into my computer though. It’s never caused a problem with the files for me. The first time it happened I saw the message and was trying to understand what I was reading but by the time I understood it, the message went away and the files loaded like normal. Have you tried putting the disk into a computer rather than a tablet by any chance? Maybe it’s something inside the tablet rather than the card itself?

I used to use the UAV forecast app which was awesome but they made it a paid app and I started to kind of boycott. lol. The Air data app is free and you can look way in the future for forecasts plus you can check controlled air space and stuff as well. It’s a cool app.
Since I started playing with Fixed winged UAS, I've Not had any DJI issues. Why have so many Praised them so Highly just to be manipulated by them. DJI is NOT your Friend people..

How do you get any range when you don't put your antennas out 🤔
Hahahaha!!! I know, man. Ever since I put that controller cover on there I forget to put those antennas out more often than I remember to. BUT, it doesn’t seem to make any difference at least with the short distances we fly out. That tells me DJI has it figured out, eh?
Did the AIR 3 get the update too?
I believe it did but I can’t confirm because I only have the Mini 4 pro. It was a fly app update so it was more for the RC 2 controller. I think I misspoke on the video though inferring the aircraft and RC had updates, too but looking back,’it was just the Fly app. 1.13.10,” update.
