And now you crush up pills to forget.
And crush up more to sleep.
And you crushed yourself into a ghost that I can't feel when you're inside me

A few reviewers have noted the Springsteen influence in her work and I couldn't agree more. Yes, its darker and more intense than anything on Nebraska even, but at their heart these are the songs of all the Wendys, Rosalitas and Candys longing to escape a dead end town just as much as their guitar slinging boyfriends. We just never got to hear their side of things before. Walking out your front door and getting into his passenger seat? The door's open but the ride ain't free? Gotta be as terrifying and f-ed up as this song suggests it could be.

springsteen’s midwest theatrics is a whole grift though. the guy is literally from la and has never lived like that. ethel cain is at least authentic. it’s not fair to compare her to a poser.

when i met you there underneath the powerlines, i’d start to cry
    to wash you away
cause i’m a goddamn fool and i knew you’d ruin my life
    in the fever dream
    of a summer haze
    i was 19
    you were 21
my mama said she loved you
    she wasn’t the only one
    you lost yours back
    when you were 15
    you forgot softness
    and what the word means
but i’ve come to know you like you forgot
    you knew yourself
gave you my virginity under the overpass
static tearing up your daddy’s stereo
you were pouring sweat and i was bleeding out on your seats
but we just laughed to death and held each other close
    valleys of powerlines
we drive by day and night
stretching for miles away from here
    we talk of runnin’
    straight shot just gunnin’
until we’re out there in the clear
it’s been hard here for you
but i know, i’m trying too
    all alone in this town
    in this alabama wild
nothing stops if not for you
but i’ll always love you and you know i will
we spent september on the backroads
shotgunnin’ warm bud lights down a sinner’s rabbit hole
by the fire, taking off my dirty blouse
i let your hands do things that no one needs to know
and i love you like you won’t ever know cause you get too caught up in what they tell you to
i’ll never forget the night or the paper in his hand when you found your daddy there swinging from the ceiling fan
by that belt you fucking hated
that left the marks i don’t ask about
all i know is i’ve never seen you hurt as bad as you do right now
now you crush up pills to forget
and you crush up more to sleep
you crushed yourself into a ghost
that i can’t reach when you’re inside me
and i take each blow you give me
and i keep them as a gift
at least you can still bear to touch me
and when you throw you never miss
it’s been hard here for you
but i know, i’m trying too
    all alone in this town
    in this alabama wild
nothing stops if not for you
but i’ll always love you and you know i will
you’d been gone for days when i
heard the news that you’d been found
shotgun in hand in your daddy’s field
sprayed out all over the ground one last time
i wish we’d have left while we still could
but i’ll do what i promised you i would
and let those powerlines take me somewhere
it’s been hard here for you
but i know, i’m trying too
    all alone in this town
    in this alabama wild
nothing stops if not for you
but i’ll always love you and you know i will
when i met you there underneath the powerlines, i’d start to cry
and then i’d let you in
cause i’m a goddamn fool and i let you ruin my life
but if i had the chance
    i’d do it all again

Ok so it’s been a few months since I’ve first heard this song, and I have to say it still sticks in my mind. I love a lot of Ethels discography but this song specifically hits me. I don’t have any specific relation to the story itself but the tone, the sadness, the hope and the disappointment, it all lives inside me in one way or another and this song brings it out. It’s so beautifully written and sung. This song helps me a lot to let myself feel the negative feelings in a safe space. It’s magic ❤️❤️

It's like a replay of my life but some parts I'm my ex and at some parts I'm her nightmare but then in other parts she's the imaginary person I actually never knew and then I'm the abused kid who still hurts from fucking everything thing up and now I'm in the work van crying again. #mastepiece

Reminds me of the old old old Israel. There's a power line that cuts across. The Westside up top where Jacob's well is and the gate to the east old lod Rice homestead and my deer stand on top of a clay hill I call Zion. Between the west and the east there is a valley with 3 little rivers, stone walls at the bottom of the valley one on the west running east across valley and one in the east running west across the valley where the 3 little rivers merge into one.. the stonewalls run like they're going to intersect and make for one big stone wall where the three little Rivers are one. It's almost like it's going to dam the valley making for one hell of a hell of a lake. Which would be cool to have your own private lake. But at the same note I don't think the valley should be flooded. Maybe flooded to protect the history the artifacts the evidence of that being an old city back when we were in the Stone age int the sand Stone before European contact. As in where I reckon King Solomon's temple would have been on the outskirts of Jerusalem. The way the land lays out on the topography map. With those three little Rivers being creeks. And that highline being my shooting lane when I'm hunting. It's well well well fortified. Skull Hill the burial mound would have been dugen up and made a road out of artifact skeletons and all the whole hill mound everything that mound was composed of. I use that mound as fill material to build the farm market road 942. Yes East Texas it's just like the country isreal. With the Way East Texas, and isreal is layed out on the map. And how can you prove this. Look at the old maps the oldest maps you can find before they built the roads those maps the topography maps. And you will see where the Big red hill or mound on the west side of the valley use to be. And Zion being on the Eastside of the valley. I have a bell up on top of that Hill when you go on top of Zion you rang the bell. Signaling you made it to the other side of the valley the valley of the shadow of death and you're still alive. Like when the last River probably be like the Jordan River or something like that going east. The only way you'll see this property this is as the crow flies, the eyes of a child, and with your holy bible talking about it multiple times. All the way to the big old sandstone that has a giant crack in it. That's where I got my home that's where I'm supposed to be on top of that old sandstone rock. I've got me a little cave underneath the sandstone Rock. The rock is way much thicker then a house fondation with that sandstone Rock being about a cubits to a 2feet thick. With the crack running from top to bottom cracking that sandstone Rock in half. There is an old fault line that runs through there. God has showed me things about through the holy Spirit and the many ways God communicates with us. Showed me exactly where in the Bible and explained it to me showed it to me blessed me it. Alright let's just say there's his verse Matthew 6:33. "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all things will be given unto thee" let's say I found his Kingdom come like what you pray about in The Lord's prayer. And what happens in the end of revelation. The end of all that in the beginning off the Kingdom come as in the new Israel. With the new Israel coming from the old old old Israel. I reckon you could say the native American stone age isreal.. because after all old things become new and new things become old. Just like this recycled gold I've been refining from the country of Israel. The scrap gold the CPUs in the pins if computers. You know what I'm saying there many things in action that's making all this even possible. like good God almighty all the work all the sacrifices all the money all the time it is took to just get to this point or moment In Time. But most of all thank yu God for the knowledge I have gained. All glory goes to the father. Last but not least thank you God for the better understanding I have on your will for my life in a better understanding of you God. For that unconditional unmatched love I get as a casted out Choctaw man as in someone who remembers the beginning as in they were there in a past life like they were there when it was in the old old old Israel crucified and murdered Jesus Christ his apostles that stoned to Death Stephen who testified for him. Acts chapter 7. Remembering creation and how the Choctaw being slow had God as his bridegroom or wife. Lo and behold like really really really come on now the spirit does know what vessel it's in. How do you think you was going to come back. The only one who had the faith and truly believed that he testified that he was Jesus Christ which got him stoned to death making him the first one to die for Christianity. Stephen was stoned before the crucifixion. I hope I'm making a little sense and hope folks hears me out about has faith in me helping with the war in heave that is on Earth ever since Lucifer and the fallen Angels was casted to Earth. And the end of Satan the fallen Angels as in like Armageddon as in what was written in Revelation. That being the end of Satan and the fallen angels and all that and I go to th abyss then the lake of fire. with the end of Revelation being the star thine Kingdom come as in what we've been praying for in the Lord's prayer. The kingdom of heaven. I hope this makes sense and somebody listens and pulls their head out of the sand. Because this is very much real and if it wasn't I wouldn't be saying all this I wouldn't be testifying now would I. The no lie Lion party and the Omega company.
