    Instead of "knitting below" just slip the stitch purlwise with yarn over.

      +Studio Knit How can you tell the difference of the right side and the wrong side of a honeycomb brioche stitch?

    • @Leslie58
      @Leslie58 8 років тому +1

      +Kathleen Rosas For myself, I look at where my cast on tail is. When you knit the first row the tail is to the outside of the needle, when you knit row 2 (the wrong side) it is on the inside of the needle. So the odd rows, where the tail is on the outside... is the right side, and the even rows where the tail is on the inside of the need is the wrong side. I hope that helps. ;-)

    • @karosas96
      @karosas96 8 років тому

      +Rogue Les what do you mean when you say inside the needle and outside the needle?

    • @Leslie58
      @Leslie58 8 років тому

      When you start your very first row, the one that you had just cast on, this is row one and the tail of the cast on is by the point of the needle, that is an odd row and the front of your knitting. The second row that tail will be on the opposite side. This idea works best when the needles are not double pointed, but rather single pointed. With double pointed needles this method probably does not work as well.

    • @Leslie58

      I hope that helps some. It is easier for me to draw this out than use words. Ha ha.

    Ah! I am so excited I found this stitch again! I did a baby sweater in this pattern from a library book and then lost the photocopy. Whenever I looked it up in a stitch dictionary it would be the honeycomb cable. Yay!! Thank you

    Love, love, love this series!!! Please add as many as you want in this playlist! Can't get enough of this!... Think you can help me identifying some stitches?? *P2, slide 1 stitch over, YO* P2. Then *K2, P2tog* K2. And the other one was... YO, slide 1 stitch over, P2tog. Saw this on a Brazilian channel and fell in love! (Too bad i don't understand portuguese). THANKS again for this series!!!

    • @studioknit
      @studioknit  9 років тому

      Thank you Helen!
      P2 = Purl 2 stitches
      K2 = Knit 2 stitches
      YO = Yarn Over (increase)
      P2Tog = Purl 2 stitches together (decrease)
      Not sure about slide one stitch over. Probably take the stitch from one needle to the next without knitting. Good luck!

    Clear as mud. You never mentioned a "slipped stitch", but then say in the next row that we're supposed to knit the slipped stitch along with the regular stitch. I've actually done this stitch many times, and this confused me.

    • @studioknit
      @studioknit  8 років тому +7

      The slipped stitch happens when knitting the K1B. There is a stitch slipped during that process, which is where you find it. Hope this helps!!

      Oziediary42 Hmmm.... make sure when you pick up that first slip stitch on row 2 that you are ALSO IN THE SAME STITCH picking up the first stitch on your needle and knitting them together. Hope that helps!!!

    You said you knit two rows of stockinette to help your work lie flat. Stockinette is known for NOT letting your work lie flat. Did you mea garter stitch?
    I'm trying to follow this. I get the basic idea of what to do, but I can't figure out if I'm grabbing the right stitch for the "1 below" bit. As nice as this tutorial is, it would have been helpful if you had a yarn where the stitches were more defined and it was easier to see the individual ones. Also, if you went a little slower and had the camera zoomed in a bit more, maybe. I mean, I KNOW what I'm supposed to do, but I can't quite figure out which stitch is the one to grab and yet all of the videos I've found, this one and others, don't really go slow enough and get close enough to the working stitches for those of us who rely on visual aids.
