    Just wanted to let you know that your video was the reason I bought this pedal. It's fantastic. Absolute best purchase. We've been getting regular gigs and have a professional sound by Using the mic mechanic and harmoniser. When my voice goes, I can lean harder on the pedal. Glad f I watched it vid again because now I want to try running the pedal on the highest reverb. Normally I'm running off the low one. Def helpful. Beat vid out there to show what this pedal really does

    It's on my small pedalboard. The one great thing is that when you want more effect, bear down on the mic, and less if you back off. I use a beta 58.
    I set it at the 3rd setting, removed the knobs and put cardboard over it.
    Back it down so it is subliminal.

    It's a great pedal, but I wish it had a delay effect knob on it too. Delay should ideally come before reverb, so using the pedal's reverb and then the delay on a PA is kind of backwards, although you can get away with it.

    Nice demo. My preference is for a substantially less processed sound. My busking partner and I do almost exclusively classic blues and country. As he doesn't sing all I would need would be a 3d above. I've got vocal reverb in my busking amp. Don't need hiss control or compression as I know how to work a mic. Would LOVE a stripped down version of this. Like XLR in/out, 1/4" in/out and 1 and 1/2 above switch and a harmony level pot. This is like a Cadillac and I need a 2 door Echo. Be paying for stuff I don't need and will never use. Otherwise, I can see it's a great product with a to-the-point presentation. Thank you. Cheers, mate.

      Knowing how to work the mic has nothing to do with hiss and compression. The FOH mixer probably uses compression and deessing

    Thanks for the good review, there is not much information on the net. The guitar is needed as a control tool for the work of the back vocal pitch correct, in order to hit the note exactly, it will be like a control element. By the way, it would be better to plug the output from the synthesizer into the pedal, or rather it will work out. Best regards from Russia.

    So, there's one thing that nobody explains when they're doing a demo of this pedal and I'd like to understand. Let's take the simple example of harmonising a third above (I've got questions about a fifth below too). If I'm playing a C major chord and my vocal melody is on the C, I presume the pedal produces my voice on top singing an E and if I'm singing an E it might produce a G? But what if I'm singing a G? Does the pedal produce an E so that my actual voice is the harmony and the pedal has taken the lead to maintain the 3rd above harmony that we've set the pedal to? Otherwise, a third above a G is a major 7th in C and that might not be the colouration I'm aiming for. The pedal can't be blindly producing vocals that are a 3rd above what I'm singing. Surely it must be creating both the melody and the harmony at either a 3rd above and/or a 3rd below, depending on what I'm singing. Same question applies for a fifth below (or did you mean a 3rd below?). Can you clarify please?

    • @thepedalpicassos
      @thepedalpicassos  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi!!! Great questions!!! The harmoniser follows exactly what you play… if you set the harmony to be a third above, and you are playing in the key of C major, it will automatically put the E in for you as the harmony note, if you are playing in C minor it will automatically put in an E flat for you, if you play a major seven chord, it will put in the major seven note… if you’re playing a minor 7 chord , it will put in a minor 7 note. Sometimes you need to adjust the cords you are playing to get the desired harmony! Hope that helps!!

    i wondered would you reccommend it over the tc helicin gtx if so why? 2 ....or the Boss VE .... I like the sound of the one you demo here and simplicity of changing harmonies on the fly they sound great as do you and great review man. I dont know if its just a case of someone using something different n might buy one .... I use the boss ve as it is battery powered or plugin and you can just cut it off n speak with a stomp and it has a vocal enhancher magic button thingy that (i dont need) but it actually does work to make the harder (higher) songs easier on the voice somehow>>? -) 2 questions ....is your thing battery powered as well as dc and 2...sometimes i use achostic guitar n backing and sometimes I just use backing trax from my desk and so wondered if i took a line from the desk (monitor out) would it follow along with the key for harmonies like it does when I plug in guitar .... in theory this should work? Never actually tested it out .

    Very handy review this. I have been using the Harmony G XT on my main board for years - which I lve by the way - and this looks like a simplified/stripped down version of the same. Do you know how many milliamps of current these draw? My Harmmony G XT, though a 12V unit, needs at least 300 ma, and I am guessing this could also be a bit power hungry. The CIOKS 8 runs it fine but it needs mains power, and I need need to be AC power free for my small board. The manual does not specify power needs, it does say the power supply delivers 600ma but that does not mean anything.

    • @kiskadar69
      @kiskadar69 7 місяців тому

      The manual indicates the current draw as 670mA, which is pretty high. I recommend checking the specifications of the power supply to see if it is capable of passing 670mA to the pedal. See the user manual for the Harmony Singer 2. See section 3 ‘Power’ for the current draw. Also, as a double check, 6 Watts at 9V does calculate out to roughly 670 mA.
      Unfortunately, the bottom of the pedal is marked "300mA", but it certainly won't work even with a 500mA power supply.

    Few tips as I own one,
    Use harmony sparingly (lower the level) so it doesn't become over powering in the mix
    The audience will look at you weird if there is one singer and you use harmony. As they think you are auto tuned (they are just uneducated)
    If you naturally sing high, don't use to many harmonies 3 and 5 above because it clearly sounds weird and unnatural (eg, use a lower harmony to help thicken up the vocals without sounding like Alvin and the chipmunks)
    It works great in my band when multiple ppl are singing and can really thicken up the vocals and sounds like it's us rather than a machine helping
    Lastly, turn off the reverb when talking to your audience as the ppl in the back won't be able to clearly hear you at all and you WILL sound 100% muffled
    Rock on 🤘

      When using it in a live setting, why wouldn't you want to split the vocal outputs and run them dry (without any effects) and run the effects from the mixer to the mains? I can't figure out why someone would want to use the onboard vocal effects in a pedal rather than the built in effects from the mixer (or external processor, whichever). Of course, a solo singer/guitar player could completely bypass using a mixer if they used this pedal through a sound tower or something. I think I just talked (typed) my way through the question..lol.

      Hi!
      Which other pedal do you consider better than this one?
      I think the TC Helicon sounds not so artificial than the other pedals I’ve tested.

    • @Lanwarder
      @Lanwarder Рік тому +1

      @@rafabern31 Well it depends on what it is you are trying to achieve and why. Do you play pretty big venues? Do you have the same soundman all the time? I know it's not the same effect, but have you tried a slapback delay and see how it works with your voice? Do you use the pedal because you really love the tone, or is it a way to make your voice sound "larger"? If it's for the second reason and you often find yourself playing relatively small/mid size gigs (Nothing wrong with that, I haven't played a gig in way too long and would give quite a lot to play a couple of gigs in front of any potentially interested audience.) I'd consider buying a compressor.....In fact, I think that, regardless the TC Helicon, having a compressor is a good idea as long as you there is the possibility that the venue you'll be playing it does not have one. It really depends on your situation and the kind of gigs you play and the reason why you want to use it. Oh and finally, it's going to sound obvious, but if it's about recording tracks in a studio, just record real overdubs.
      All of that being said, it's always a matter of personal preferences. Maybe you found a way to make it sound perfect for your voice or for the type of music that you do. Looking forward to reading your answer. Best of luck with you project!

    Hi, not using the tone button, turning on naturally, do you have a good mic pre, a clean pre with a certain body? because I've had pedals from other brands that connect the microphone directly to the active box has better quality than going through a pedal.

    And using, for example, only the third option, without connecting any instruments, can it reproduce well? It seems that even without connecting he is able to do the second voice well if it is a simple option. I have a band where I have the lead singer and I opening a vocal harmony, but we would like another third voice. If the Tc Harmony Singer 2 is capable of playing at least 1 single voice without an instrument, it would be ideal for me, because I play drums too and do the backing. Thanks

    • @cjartevideos
      @cjartevideos Рік тому +1

      @@NickfromHighTide Hi, after a lot of research I saw that the best option for my case (and my pocket) was the Harmonist VE-2 from Boss.
      I only use 1 voice (besides my own) and it sounds natural, it's not artificial, I also don't make the volume louder than the voice I'm doing.
      I'm a drummer and I'm the only one doing backing vocals in my band. There are parts in our show that even the keyboards or guitars stop playing, and that's why playing with the pedal plugged in these instruments to work in the right tones wouldn't help me because the pedal would lose reference.
      So I use the manual option where I change the tones myself and which voice opening I'm going to use... a 5th or 3rd above or below generally, for each song in the repertoire. It's a bit complicated because as a drummer I need to do it very quickly so that we don't have too much delay between one song and another, you need to be willing to do this work. In my repertoire I have written down all the tones and voicings that I will harmonize, when there are amended songs it is more complicated to organize in some cases I choose the most important song to have a backing vocal and give up another one, because sometimes it is difficult to change the tone while I'm playing, in some cases when the drums are quieter I can even do it.
      If you can't use a pedal-plugged instrument either, play an instrument and do backing vocals and you'll have a well-rehearsed show where things are well-organized with the band and you can have a good time for pre-show soundchecks, this Harmonist VE-2 pedal can do just that.
      But if you don't want too much in your head and play more freely or if your band likes to change things in the show very often then I think you won't like it or at least it will be one more thing to complicate your life lol
      Hope this helps.

    It's possible plug a bass with harmony singer or just guitar or acustic guitar?

    • @thepedalpicassos
      @thepedalpicassos  2 роки тому +1

      It only works if you play chords… it needs to hear the root note and the 3rd note of the chord so it knows if it’s a major or minor. If you’re playing single notes on a bass… it won’t have enough information to generate the correct harmony! If you are the bass player and the singer in a band, you can just run a line from your guitar player or keyboard player into it so it has a musical reference! Hope that helps!!
