  • This location was at the epicentre of Liverpool's music scene of the early '80s.
Julian Cope, Pete De Freitas (Echo and the Bunnymen), Peter Burns (Dead or Alive) and Paul Simpson (The Wild Swans) all lived on a first floor flat here.
Courtney Love was invited to stay here by Cope after she hooked up with The Teardrop Explodes at a gig in London and "jumped on their tour bus home."
Love stayed at the flat for about six months before she moved out to "give Simpson and De Freitas a break from the girls".
Love later called it "probably the nicest pre money/fame spot I ever lived in." and continued to live elsewhere in Toxteth, "learning to be a rock and roll star in Liverpool".
The flat was badly damaged by fire in June 2021 and appeared to be vacant when we visited in September 2022.

The side entrance through the gate is the way to where Courtney and her friend lived
