There's a reason witch celebrations make sense--it relates to our sense of season, shift of light, right? As well as harvest and planting type stuff. Anyway, some very pretty art, but I struggle with decks that have a certain amount of female nudity (often with large bodies); why do we celebrate female power by showing the female body, giving birth, nurturing exclusively? We're not just maidens, mothers, and crones. We don't show male power that way. Why not show them achieving something more than showing breasts? Anyway, this is not from prudery but it is one of my personal gripes! Thanks for sharing this--hope the changes you're experiencing in your life are positive ones!

Interesting perspectives Nancy thank you for watching and thanks for your thoughts. I had some immediate things come to mind: (i) I mostly see women's bodies, esp in the 1980s, highly sexualised. This deck celebrated the feminity without sexualising it, (ii) I had this thought recently of how much the world, in general, is influenced by the male form... eg, blazers are still a sign of professionalism yet they were designed to broaden the shoulders and carve out the frame as broad shoulders (distinct in men) is seen as a strength, whilst female clothing is designed to minimise the hips even though wide hips is a sign of fertility. So even in fashion the cut and design reflects on power and time and again men's forms are enlarged whilst female forms are minimised...
There is more but just my initial thoughts. I also come from a culture where even a woman laughing out loud in a jovial, can be considered as too 'brisk' or 'unfeminine' because women must still delicately blend into the walls... Sigh

I do agree in the sense that we need to show women's power in more ways than just breasts. So I understand that... maybe we need to make a deck?!

Re the Sabbaths, indeed. I had been marking them on my own for so many years, or with a close Lithuanian friend, long before social media 🕸

@@darkfaetarot You know, to me if you show a naked woman (or man) and they are sexualized, which is fine by me! Yes, men aren't shown in our decks as children, fathers, old men and pretty much never as naked and overweight. It is interesting!
