Let the machine do the cleaning while you do other activities. This works on pet drinkers, hamster bottle nipples (ball bearing), parts that have cracks and joints that you just can't get into. Water dishes, feeders, and aquarium filter components that need that deep clean.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video Fred. In thinking about it, there are so many things this could be used for. Especially when the kids were small.
Have a great weekend!
I am using it for everything from wasp traps to my lab instruments :) always nice to see your comments Mary!
I just put mine in the dishwasher. Comes out perfectly clean. No hassle.
Based on your video I purchased an ultra sonic cleaner just like yours. It works really well to remove algae off the plastic plants. Silk plants took a bit longer. It worked well on my rocks too, brought them back to original condition! It’s such a lot of hard work to clean algae off heavy, rough rocks. This machine works really well. Brought my gravel that had turned a bit green with algae back to sparkling new. I put it in a fine mesh laundry bag. Worked a treat!! Thanks for posting this video 😀
Wow, you've found lots of great uses for it! Thanks for sharing :)
Afternoon Fred, 70° in January?! Unbelievable huh! Was listening to a radio station ‘WEEU’neighbor told about y-day, broadcasts out of reading PA. 8-10 talking about birding etc😃I loved it😄gosh thanx for this! I just sent the link to my eldest brother who has always had a passion &patience for keeping his huge ultra clean & tidy 🐠aquarium ☺️thanks again Fred😀👍🏼have a blessed day & hang on to your hat if ur out🌬💨🤠winds just kickin up here on NE Ohio🍃😯70!
Hi Cherylann, we had 60 mph gusts overnight here and it hit 63 deg. F.... and now it's back down to 29 degrees... weird! I am loving this unit and find new things to put into it all the time now and my wife doesn't seem to mind that it's parked on the kitchen table :) Your brother is going to enjoy having one!
Awesome! I ordered one after seeing your video! I just received my ultrasonic cleaner this weekend! I’m going to try it!
That piece of gear has lots of uses... including ruining my favorite dive watch :)
Amazing! I want this to clean real plants with . A very smart man mentioned he cleaned pests off his plants with one of these . Gets pest eggs off pants too . Too bad they’re so expensive. Yikes ! But what a great job it did cleaning your plastic plants ! Wow ! Must have one . Thanks for the video 😊
It’s called , you can get the same results with elbow grease and red hot water! Been doing it for 27 years now! I do have an ultra sonic cleaner, but it’s for my lab ware and lab equipment!!!
I'm glad you've been doing it for 27 years and that has worked for you. I've been in the aquarium hobby since the 70's. Ultrasound gets in crevices that you just can't scrub. But true, lots of methods and choices. I'm glad you've found your favorite method.
Disposable ultrasonic toothbrush for hard surfaces works great!
nice. i like setting mine in the sun. uv light kills everything. then i rinse in hot water. works very well
Nice
Thank you for sharing this video 📸👍
You're very welcome :)
Wow- - Those look great !
I like that it works but $300 cleaning machine isn't where I'm spending my aquarium money.
Oh my head! Yes!
‼️Fred IS The MAN ‼️🙌🏼
Thank you Cherylann :)
This is as eureka as when I discovered the uv sterilizer - that petshops forget to mention is the reason our tanks NEVER LOOKED AS GOOD AS THEIRS
Do you recommend this one or the creworks one? I noticed to switched to this one after the other video, curious if the other gave out or this was a better brand? It's certainly cheaper which is appealing. It looks like a great method to do this, would certainly save money in the long run.
None of them have failed to function, both work.
@@FrederickDunn Did you clean any plants that have a base that appears to be gravel glued together? Wondering if it would break the base of these up as quite a few of my plants have a base like this.
Thanks Fred, yet another good VLOG. Is it air dry for 6 or 12 hrs and the chlorine is gone?
Hi Ian, after the freshwater rinse, there is no need to wait for chlorine to evaporate. BUT if you are doing a soak in freshwater, chlorine will dissipate on its own. It is important to use a dechlorinator just in case.
Too funny, Fredrick! I bought a ultrasonic cleaner for carburetors last month, and you answered my question as to whether it would clean the algae off my plastic plants and decorations! Quick question: what do you put the gravel in to keep it from getting down into the valve of the ultrasonic cleaner? Any suggestions?
Put the gravel in nylons or old socks without holes in them :)
@@FrederickDunn Great minds think alike LOL, I didn't know if the ultrasonic could penetrate or not...thanks again.
What about the products like a little cave that the fish go that the fish go through are for instance I have a better log I have a better log that floats and he goes he goes into you wouldn't you wouldn't do that in ultrasound a cleaner or would you help me
The ultrasonic cleaner will remove the paint from other ornaments.
What about big decorations that you put in your aquarium
You have to be careful as some paint can begin to come off. Best for solid materials that are not painted.
Although freddy Fred Fred you could actually recycle that water, JUST by leaving it to neutralize, I'm not hating ♻️👍👍
I'm on a well with free energy and no water shortages here. :)
Don't understand why temperature is off.
Why what temperature is off?
Have you tried it with just soap?
Good question... I know that bleach rinses completely clean, I can't count on soap remnants being completely purged. If they weren't going to be put into an aquarium, there are lots of options.
Is there a more affordable option than an ultrasonic cleaner that costs $200+???
You can just soak them overnight in bleach and to a very thorough rinse.
Beneficial bacteria would there why clean?
The beneficial bacteria would remain on plenty of other aquarium surfaces. Since this video, I've changed to mostly living plants.
😍
what kind of bleach do you use?
Straight cleaning bleach, no additives.
Who knew ultrasonic cleaners were useful for more than just gun parts or other machined parts?? If I ever get another aquarium set up, I will get an ultrasonic cleaner. I HATED cleaning the plants. It was the worst!
LOL cleaning anything is a nasty word to me
Hi Brenda, I just received some super cleaner powder and it's a whole new world of clean around here :) I'm also glad I bought the 30 L size so I can really do larger batches at a time and I can't wait to try it on my Flow-Frames when the weather gives me a break :) AND---- because it's a great controlled heat basin, I can remelt cryatalized honey at a constant 120 degrees.... who knew? (';')( ';')
@@FrederickDunn Im just curious about oxi clean instead of bleach for the plastic aquarium plants. Would that work instead of bleach? I know its better for clothing.
I can't vouch for how safe that is for the fish? I do know that bleach is safe for fish and honey bees :)
@@FrederickDunn good to know
Yes and kill all the good bacteria what’s the point the gravel acts as part of your filter
The point is to clean the plants. Thanks for sharing.
Will
.
You're also getting rid of the beneficial bacteria that has been growing on the plants and ornaments which is one of the most important things in a fish tank.
What I do is I clean them with the actual tank water in a 5 gallon bucket when they start to get algae on them.
Yep I will just use my hands really swish them around in the tank water in the 5 gallon bucket at my water change.
that gets most of the algae off then I use a brush to brush them down to get as much as I can off the hard ornaments
then I put them back in and I don't have to worry about bleach or anything like that..
But you should look up beneficial bacteria..
The bacteria repopulate very easily and the rest of the tank, including the canister filter is loaded with beneficial bacteria. Thanks for sharing your method.
@@FrederickDunn
Yes I was also reading about that. it all depends on the tank and how many fish you have sometimes the bacteria from the canister depending on all of the factors might not be enough.. I guess for the bigger tanks you would be right but for smaller tanks it would not be enough..
I just know I've gotten my plants very clean without using any bleach in the method I mentioned.
If there's any bleach left on those plants you can by a mistake your fish could die so easily.
I'm just too afraid to risk it when I can get them just as clean without using bleach.
;)
@@muzikmon2267 Yes, things may be more of an issue with smaller environments. And with the bleach, it dissipates and the soak/rinse/dwell cycles are very important. Thanks again for sharing your methods. :)
