Thank you - this was the missing link for the connect home pro router/hub... I'd been going in circles w/ support, unable to find and access the zwave utilities!
Wonderful to have a follower from across the pond. Smart home automation is an interesting hobby. I thoroughly enjoy it. I’m assuming that you're using SmartThings for your home automations?
@@BudsSmartHome yes I've started with smart things . I worked as a a/v engineer 20 years ago when automation was only for pro footballers. I remember a job being £120,000 for what you could achieve now ( and better ) for £2000 or less. Any advice on future proofing? I'm about to start a big extension on my property and want to kit it out with sensors ect which would be most likely to work with future systems. God save the queen 😂
You sound like a very capable gentlemen when it comes to technology. Therefore you likely know that smart things makes wireless repeaters so that you can expand your system as needed. Additionally Z wave plus devices can be used as well to expand your network. The Z wave protocol is one of the more widely used options in today’s home automation and Security markets due to a superior range. Z wave is completely wireless and operates at a low radio frequency, which means it will not interfere with Wi-Fi signals, portable phones, and microwave ovens. Z wave creates a mesh network that allows signals to hop from one device to another, and each network and support up to 232 devices
I think you provided the answer in your video, but I would like to confirm.. If a Z-Wave device was previously associated with a *different* SmartThings hub. In my case, the previous homeowners hub. Can the existing Z-wave device be excluded from the new hub, and then be discovered by the new hub?
Hi Bud, in the classic app I had no issues using the Zwave utilities. However, in the new SM app (using Hub V1) a am unable to find the Zwave utilities. Can u help?
Please watch the following video again Bman. The instructions for finding the Z-wave exclusion and repair utilities are explained within. Video here: ua-cam.com/video/1dA9fKUEzgo/v-deo.html
an alternative is to login to IDE @ account.smartthings.com choose My Hubs in the menu scroll down the page and find View Utilities you can run Z-Wave Exclude and Repair Z-Wave network from there.

The 'smart things hub' is what stumps me. Is that the app in my phone, is it an alexa device like a dot echo, can it be a smart plugs, (operates without a hub) or is it a smart things wifi mesh router. Or... is it a home security hub like vera plus,Vera edge, Vera light , home seer, d link staples connect, and piper NV? I'm 3 hours deep and still can't pair my door window sensor, but I think I could still write a book on ways to try to pair the device. This is ludicrous.
Colin. You need a SmartThings (ST) Hub. SmartThings Hub and former ST devices are now made by Aeotec. (The Aeotec Hub seen here: amzn.to/3Qv2Onk ). The Aeotec/ST HUB has Zwave and Zigbee radios. It connects through your home router to communicate with your devices. It also integrates with Alexa and Google devices so that you can control your home with voice commands. You can also use these connected devices to report events in your home as they occur, such as "motion detected on the porch" or "garage door closed". Some echo devices have a Zigbee radio built in as well as wi-fi. The routines in that Amazon Alexa App are more limited then the routines in the ST App. I know it can be confusing with all the various technology out there. I hope this help clear up some of the confusion.
@@BudsSmartHome I appreciate your reply. And I'll click the link and spend more time at this. 😮💨 the complexity is beyond words. I have a doorbell camera, and it has the instructions with the app to onload and how to connect to the home router. And change the password, after creating an account.. exhausting is an understatement for even a device that has its methods described. But this z wave plus door/window sensor has me wondering if this thing is actually just a random circuit board wrapped on random plastic with a rabbit hole attached to its instructions. I've never had such difficulty and I'm honestly beyond agitated. If I have to buy a 200 dollar specialized mesh hub, I would have never even looked at this thing. Thanks again for the reply. I doubt I will figure this out but I'll take another crack at it

You are correct Tim. As a matter of practice I exclude Z-wave devices before inclusion to avoid potential issues with inclusion.

Hi Bud, when I go to my hub, then tap on 3 dots in right corner, the Zwave utilities does not show. Only edit and information. What gives?
Do you have any Z wave devices installed on your network?
an alternative is to login to IDE @ account.smartthings.com
choose My Hubs in the menu
scroll down the page and find View Utilities
you can run Z-Wave Exclude and Repair Z-Wave network from there.
Any way to get these instructions in less than 9 minutes?

all greek to me need step by step
How do I exclude a z wave device if I no longer have the device? It’s still showing on my SmartThings hub though.
To remove devices from your hub you can just delete them from the IDE.
I would also run a network repair after you exclude the device. This is done in the Z wave utilities.
