Hot take: This show is on par with Nokotan in the humor department. I give the production committee massive props for including so many real-life brands like Sausage Legends, OBS, and Getting Over It.
Not a hot take. I think Otaku Spirit is a bit off on this one.
I didn't watch this Vtuber anime but watched Nokotan's first 2 episodes and I didn't really connect with its comedy.
This despite liking Nichijou a lot.
Like they say, humour is very subjective.

I like Nokotan as far as the comedy, but I only lightly chuckled a couple of times (like that Spiderman 2 dance during the cringe song scene), but this anime made me burst out laughing over and over.
It expertly captures what I like about watching vtubers. Definitely one of my favorites of the season.
The thing with this anime is that it actually goes out of its way to respect the VTuber culture. I do think it makes perfect sense that this anime is not for you, since you know, you weren't into VTuber culture. But as someone into it, it's really faithful. Yes, even the fact that the joke is extremely one-sided because of the viral event (Hi Ui-mama!). You don't see that often, even in other "VTuber anime". Kizuna was a mess. Hololive was fine, but it's not really about VTuber culture. This anime, imho, is the result of Gigguk's VTuber video incarnate.
The drinking honestly feels relatable to me and makes her more real. Even though i havent drank in years there was a point in my life where i used substances as a way to try to get me more comfortable with myself and help push myself to put myself out there. I'm looking forward to seeing her learn a little more about herself and the reasons she drinks.
Based on your explanation. If its how you described you will be suprised how relaxed (some) vtuber agencies are. Some agencies are really strict to protect their brand but others are like "look, dont get banned on the platform and we dont care what you do"
The only real Vtuber agency I know of that gives its idols/vtubers such lenient rules of content is VShojo. They are an American agency though, I can't think of a single Japanese Vtuber Agency that goes that far, because they are all pretty strict.
@@Mecks089 Even Hololive has been totally fine with talents getting blind drunk on stream and saying all kinds of shit.
Now they're representing premier division sporting teams that's a bit more difficult, but some of the talents are still pretty wild, and Live On is nowhere near that level. They feel strongly akin to 2019 Hololive, where Matsuri and Fubuki were singing about giant penises and Coco was just about to make drug dealing for the Yakuza her biggest meme.
The yuri works really well though, it goes places and becomes actually serious after what the anime will cover though, so unless S2, I recommend the source material.
I rarely ever watch VTubers, there’s one from Idol-EN that I’ve watched a few times because I like her voice, but listening to someone just waffle for hours doesn’t interest me. But an anime about them I might like, I’m not sure.
I don't know what I was expecting going into this show, but it definitely wasn't "slice of VTuber life", and so consider me pleasantly surprised.
Well, i feel like to explain. The whole drinking thing is basicly in the japanese culture, where in other cuntry it's view as a bad sign, in japan, the more you're drunk the more you're social. The fact of drinking alcool is a symbolism of breaking the tatemae (the maner facade). I personaly think that the show want to make poeple be more like themself even with a persona. It's okay to be what you want to be, the other poeple will still like you and maybe even more that the foced persona that you wore yourself to be correct. That said thnks for your professionalism and sorry if my typing is wrong or akward, english is not my first language. Good quality of video and godd rythmes.
@@darkmateo333 there's no problem with your english but it is with your long boring grandma type nonsense explanation...
Drunk to blame her last job who works no paid overtime.
Honestly, if you look at the show more as a parody of some things with content creation and live streaming it actually ends up being a bit more amusing. Yes it has its tropes, at a pretty sure they'll get to some more actual character development. But if you going with that type of mindset where it's a bit of a parody of some of it alongside having some character improvements overall it's an alright show.
I don't know about this one or the Vtuber culture in this show. Only Vtuber I've really watched is Aliciaxlife. She's just an anime reacter with a Vtuber model that reminds me of a Gorudo. She seems genuine and honest, especially about how and why she got into Vtubing. She's worth a watch if your looking for a new reacter in the anime space.
She's alright but she tends to repeat herself so much and go on boring tangents that it gets annoying.
@@PredatoryQQmber For now, I don't mind her tangents. Gets me to know the person behind the reacter. Plenty of cut and paste "focus on show only" out there.
I can understand those tangents being a negative though.
This anime seems like a strong zero advertisement tbh
i wonder if the sales number rocket up ...
@@PrograError no clue but it's surprising if it isn't sponsored or something
Really? You're gonna use zoomer terms like that in the title? 😮💨
@@ChildrenOfGielinor I think that's the localizer, but I don't japanese so who knows... (something something rogue localizers something something...
I found this video trying to find out what this g word is lol can someone help please 😂
Same bro wth is this word? I'm good at word games and nothing is making sense😆
@@johnmenard6864 exactly lol the confusion
the constant bleeping of words is jarring to me and turned me off. imho if you have to bleep out words than maybe they shouldnt of used those words.
Yeah the drinking is a turn off for me too
TBH I just watch it for the plot, just like for most trash anime of the season... humour shows like this is too localised in Japanese culture anyway... plus the nico nico messages on screen just makes it almost impossible to watch...
