Wasp and Yellow Garden Spider Egg Sack!

  • There are many species of insects, birds, and even other spiders that will try and take advantage of this amazing form of protection from the spiderlings. Even the yellow jackets!
    This egg sack is that of the Black and Yellow Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia). They tend to put their egg sacks randomly in the surrounding vegetation (NOT one side of the web like some of the articles with info about them claim). The brown sacks have webbing around them which will retain the surrounding dead leaves through the winter. The sacks will blend into the brown leaves, but they are still easy to find when all of the other leaves fall off the plant.
