The reason why people say you have to shave your dreads if you no longer want them, is because you can actually reattach them later on if you miss them down the track :) That said, some people don't want to go the pixie cut route either P:

Have 5 year old dreads that are beautiful, long, stunning, I love them. So. Annoying. Sleeping, working out, getting frizzy, scalp always on the edge of irritated.. Feel stuck. Maybe. one day I'll be ready to part with them or fix this love/hate relationship....Loved the video, was exactly what I was looking for.

They are uncomfortable. I can't wait to be free from these. I loved them, but I'm ready to get these out. Mine are taking about 30min each. I've been using a pet comb and Frizz Ease conditioner.

I'm about an hour in on brushing my dreads of 6? ish years out. I've done so much growth during the time I've had them but we've grown as much as we can together and it's time to part ways. I'm looking for any advice on technique and motivation to continue on this process. Thank you! By the way your hair looks amazing!
You're gonna feel amazing when you're done! I'd say take it one day at a time, there's no rush. It's a heavy process on the scalp but it'll be worth it :) and thank you! My hair has grown so much since and although I miss them - nothing compares to the freedom of loose hair.

Loved your video! Your hair is beautiful! I too have a UA-cam channel with oodles of dreadlocks content AND am also at my 5 years Dread journey coming up in April of 2021. I too have been debating upon brushing mine out, but am very conflicted about the idea. I am so attached to them at the same time...missing the free flow feeling of soft silky hair. Ugh!...such a hard choice to make lol.😊🤘❤

I just started brushing mine out over the past few evenings. I'm still worried I might regret it. Why is it so hard?!?!? How did yours look after brushing out?
@@emmawelsh5336 wellllll, it took me 5 days in total starting from afternoons until 2am... I plastered my locks in conditioner, and teased out....... I have to say, I've still not had my hair cut, it was thinner than I remembered, but that was to be expected! I've gained alot of thickness back, and don't plan on cutting just yet, ends are thin and dry out quickly but.. the overall condition is really good! It's down to my bum! Weekly hair masks, a day before washing, and I still only wash my hair every 10days to 2weeks, it's down for 8-9days, and up in ponytail or buns the rest of the time. I'm a nail tech so always covered in nail dust (hair and face) so I can get away with dandruff buildup and greasy hair.... but I miss them LIKE CARZY!!! im so glad I had them, but also glad I took them out, I will occasionally wear synthetic, I don't like the stiffness or how neat/uniform they are, I loved my lumps and bumps!...... good luck 👍💓✨️
