Transforming a Suburban House into a Self-Sustaining Homestead

What happens when your off-grid homesteading plans get derailed and you need to stay in your suburban home? I guess you just create your Homestead in the 'Burbs!
Like many, I have always dreamed of getting out of the city and create my own homestead in a quiet, peaceful valley but life sometimes throws you a curveball. We own 5 acres in the mountain but due to my medical situation (disabled vet with PTSD) and my wife having a career in education, we have decided to completely transform our suburban yard into a garden of eden! In addition, we have an indoor pool area that we are converting to a greenhouse so we can grow vegetables year round.
Our channel will be a journey of gardening, canning, cooking (I love cooking...I used to be a caterer in the film industry), building and remodeling, chicken parenting and maybe a video or two about my cats, Gus and Sox!
