I thought the same thing, and did another foil box repair/install and did not put the non-skid on the back as you suggest. It does make it more susceptible to scratches, but I think is just cosmetic?
This video is the board (from scratch custom) where I did not put non-skid on the tail. The green section after the deck pad. ua-cam.com/video/S_v18c2n8Yo/v-deo.html
Great video - great skills! How did you decide for the right position of the box? I have a Starboard Hypersonic I don’t use for windsurfing, and I’m wondering, if it would be possible to foil with it (as a beginner, at least). Any tips?
@@hardhal I put it in about the same place...maybe a couple cm further forward. I'm sure you could make your Starboard work for foiling. Just needs enough volume to uphaul and early planing. The combination of fuselage length and wings will determine where the center of lift is.
Great video - lots of useful info. Video time-lapse format was pretty intense to watch though 😮
Thanks David! I sailed that board just a few days ago...the repair seems to still be holding up without any issues.
awseome work!
Very good job, congratulations 🤙
Impressive
Excellent work and video. Are you going to start trying race foils with this or for someone else?
Yes, definitely begs to be used with race gear. Will see how it performs on the water.
clever
Forgimme for asking. But why is the grit needed in the back of the board where u rarely position your feet?
