I played tennis when I was in school, was even on my high school's tennis team. My friends quit the team and decided they'd rather play basketball (at the park, not on the team) though, so I more or less stopped playing after high school.
6:17 Was waiting for you to use the "Pat Boone Debbie Boone" fill in a jazz context, but alas, we only got Debbie. 🤣

Love the rock/jazz face :D Anyway rock comes out of jazz, and you hear a lot of even 8ths in modern jazz, but the dynamics is what makes jazz so nice to listen to.

Love tennis! Love jazz! About rock, it’s great to see players like Mitch Mitchel (Jimi Hendrix)and Ginger Baker (Cream) use their early jazz drum set training in a rock setting. 👍🏽

I’m enjoying using your suggestion of adding a “bop” during my rudiment practicing; makes it easier to count and have fun with most of the rudiments! So simple yet effective.

Quincy International ! Hey man from Nutty Ned en España ! Love the lesson and the application transformation from Rock to Jazz and back again. I'm sure you have heard some of the better Rock Masters but my faves are the 60's and 70's guys because of their love for jazz ! Like Mitch Mitchell w Jimi Hendrix, Bonham w Led Zep, Ian Paice w Deep Purple, Aynsley Dunbar w Zappa, Clive Bunker w Jethro Tull, Ginger Baker w Cream and Mike Shrieve w Santana. Serious rudiment alchemists and masters of time and space. Love the Korean BBQ too, mmm-mmmm!

I love tennis, but the way it's presented now and the players are soooo pressurized it kinda lost some of the fun. My Mom was/is passionate about tennis, taught us how to play and I got pretty good too. Got to get back into it man. In the 1970s at the old Forest Hills I saw Borg, Connors, Arthur Ashe , Evert, Rosewall, Laver , Newcombe, Pancho Gonzales, Virginia Wade, Ilie Nastase, Martina, Billie Jean King, Stan Smith, Yvonne Goolagong... Even though it was a serious competition, it still had a relaxed vibe and players were totally approachable. Great memories.

This is so good! Wish I had someone point this out to me when I first started learning jazz, it would have made such a difference in my confidence when playing jazz.
Maybe you could even keep pushing this idea of rock & jazz overlap with other elements of drumming like groove, for example half time shuffles a la Bernard Purdie and John Bonham. Just a thought!
