In regard of the Northern Crusades it's rather disadvantageous to be a English speaker only. Very few books on the topic are available in English, with the most notable being The Northern Crusades by Eric Christiansen. That book, however, while still relatively detailed when dealing with the Wendish Crusade and other early developments (the author being Danish after all), gets superficial to the extreme (and contains quite a few errors) when dealing with the later developments in Livonia, Estonia, Lithuania etc. Luckily the original sources, such as The Livonian Rhymed Chronicle (published by Lithuanian Research and Studies Center) and The Chronicle of Henry of Livonia, are available in English and are most highly recommended. In Estonian, Latvian etc a lot of excellent studies are available, as the northern crusades were such paramount events in our national histories.
Just because you live where they lived doesn’t mean your a direct descendant of.. I promise check your dna you will have German or Danish or one of the conquering peoples dna
Man I love this channel! I let my little cousin watch these videos when he sleeps over. The youth should watch more of these kind of videos instead of gaming like addicts. They will learn far more than the incomplete lies they learn at school about the crusades.
The Wends are native Poles. The rebellious wends, i.e. the Polish Piasts, fought with the wends. They were influenced by the Roman Empire. They called themselves Poles. But in general, the Wends are the ancestors of native Poles. Because in Poland their God is worshiped to this day. "Świętowit"
looks like it could easily be interpreted as I have already noted that some people are using the Finnish name for Russia ( Venäjä has been described as Wenäjä by English historians describing tribes that came with Germans ( possibly as slaves) settled in my old part of the UK (Norfolk). And in Norfolk we even have a village called Wendling ( the V and W are interchangeable). Some of this history is looking rather questionable and certainly looks like some races were trying to be erased especially in the history of where most of the people of East Anglia in the Uk came from ( which is looking like they were from Finland and Russia and came in as slaves with the Saxons).
They might be related - it's very hazy. The name Wend comes originally from the "Veneti" a people Tacitus described as living "far north" and being "amber collectors", for all intents they might have been Balts. The ancients had 3 peoples they called Veneti - the Italic Veneti, living in north western Italy, hence the name Venice. Also the Gallic Veneti, described living somewhere in Armorica - later known as Brittany. And finally, the Baltic Veneti.

I appreciate the consistency, and quality.
As a direct descendant of Wends I’m glad to be Christian ✝️
If you claim to be a "direct decendent" your cross will look like this ☦
@@overtimedemo4399 You wrote nonsense because the Northern Crusades against the Slavs (Wends) were announced in Europe by the Catholic Pope Eugene III
You have forgotten your language and your real name, as a result of the Northern Crusades against the Slavs.

All slavs were Serbs once before they moved to north, east and west away from belly button of Europe(Helm's peninsula)...
Does the Word "Vandal" came from "Wend" ?

@@KovietUnionDefector So, there were Slavic and Finnic peoples living in the Anglo-Saxon England?
I'm really suprised

Yes because term Serb is older than term Slav, weren't all Slavs long time ago Serbs?
