  • Frank Sinatra: World on a String. Great song by Frank Sinatra. This is a video that was posted a couple of years ago by another user. It was originally removed by youtube. I liked it so much, I remade it from memory. Wasn't too much to remember though. Enjoy.

I've got the world on a string, sittin' on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life, I'm in love!
    I've got a song that I sing
I can make the rain go, anytime I move my finger
Lucky me, can't you see, I'm in love
Life is a beautiful thing, as long as I hold the string
I'd be a silly so and so, if I should ever let go
I've got the world on a string, sittin' on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life, I'm in love
Life is a beautiful thing, as long as I hold the string
I'd be a silly so and so, if I should ever let go
I've got the world on a string, sittin' on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
    What a world
    Man this is the life
And now I'm so in love!

"choosing your favorite child" will always remind me of a flight that I was on (as a passenger, for a change) with Southwest Airlines. When the steward got to the oxygen mask part and traveling with a child, he mentioned, "if you are traveling with more than one child and you're wondering which child to place the oxygen mask on first? Just think of which child it is that *won't* be trying to place you into an assisted living facility. That's the child you should administrator the mask to first!". That had me laughing for half of the flight and I still get a good laugh out of it to this day.

I graduated high school too Zep and Alice Cooper and I find much of the cool music of my youth feels empty of soul in my middle age.If it doesn't swing it really doesn't mean a thing,at least when I'm alone with my guitar I get bored silly with isolated rock licks. Jazz rhythms and chords are just amazing things that I was late to appreciate..

This music... I want to be transported back into the time when it was made. I can see the era and talent, so plentiful. I'd give up some of my favorite current bands to be in a place where music had feeling, it had meaning. To a place where it had heart and soul, and not repetitious lyrics heard 100 times in a 4 minute repeat of trash.
Big bands, big brass, and big heart. I want to swing with the stars!

The new bio on Frank Sinatra by James Kaplan states that when Frank heard the playback of this song, he knew his life and career and been altered irrevocably. This was the first time in a while that Sinatra had worked with a new arranger/conductor, Nelson Riddle. Riddle challenged Sinatra to sing outside of his 1940's and early 1950's comfort zone and adapt his voice to more daring arrangements that Riddle could provide.

I really feel sorry for people that didn't live in a time with real music. Great dancing songs, both fast and slow. Music you could understand the words to, that you could feel the song with happiness or in some cases sadness, but which ever ... they made you feel something. I sang and danced, played in a Big Band and enjoyed every minute, month and year. I now have a Frank Sinatra (Frank Sinatra Sings Again) site on Face Book and a site with better old music (Music For Time) ... not much singing, unless it is by the groups of the 40s, 50s, and 60s.

I knew a whole bunch of songs by Frank Sinatra already, but this one I heared first time. No strings attached sent me here, that's right.
