Lol. I feel you. I learned this terminology almost a year ago. He said mixing, but it’s really a mastering thing. It’s the final volume( measured in LUFS {perceived loudness}, not dB) of a song/project. The higher the LUFS number, the louder the final volume outcome
I always wonder are people talking about short term, integrated, short term max or momentary max? I’ve heard people say short term is most important and I’ve heard others say either short term max or momentary max is more important
LUFs is the perceived loudness of the track regardless of actual dB’s of Gain in your track. You can See the LUFs of your song by adding a LUF meter plugin into your master bus in your daw. There’s a free one called Youlean Luf meter. I personally use the meter on the TRacks or Fabfilter Pro L2’s meter. However the YouLean LUF Meter works perfect if yall you want to see is Loudness. You can have your meter not go above 0dB but your Loudness can still range by adding a limiter or clipper and pushing your mix into it. It’s basically mastering but useful in mixing as well
Am I tripping or just like 2 years ago people were saying -14

Yo I'm looking to buy a mix and master but is it possible to get a mix report if I do so, where like you just lmk what you put on the track and what changes you made?
-9 integrated is still pretty extreme, but it's been a standard for decades now because being louder stands out on the radio compared to quieter stuff. These days most people listen to spotify or youtube, and those platforms automatically normalize tracks to around -14. Really It doesn't matter what you aim for as long as you like the sound of it.
I really gotta watch more of these vids, terminology is killin me

@@TCapo1185 Oooo ok ok, thank you for that brodie
@@TCapo1185 Gotta correct you, the lower number is louder. - 6 LUFS is louder than -10 LUFS. A LOT louder.
-6 is higher than -10 bro. 6 would be lower than 10 but in negatives the "lower" number is technically higher
@@kingdartistebro got so lost in the sauce he forgot basic numeration
In 2020 I mixed and mastered an album to -14 Lufs. I can’t even listen to it nowadays 😂😂😂 now I’m able to get it -7 with no issues
That jawn was bumpin
My sweet spot -8 -9
💎
I feel like anyone who gets beyond -8 while retaining perceived dynamics and depth is at another level lol.
-8 is my sweet spot
For me it would be -3 for the main parts of my song
depends on the song and genre 😳
I'm about to -6 to -9
Always wondered why -9 wasn’t enough. You have everyone else doing minus -6 or 7. We should all just go -5 or lower 😂
This was super helpful. I was still kinda at -14. So this is helpful. My stuff was loud, but not competitively loud. Good info @MixedByEli
Doesn't it depend on the type of genre?
I use the lufs that sounds best to my ears✅ everybody says -9 or 8 but music isnt black and white
-8 def the sweet spot
💎💎
-8 -9 ... Yeyi ❤️
-8 4life 😁💯

Mine is -10 cause that’s all I can do sometimes it hits -9 😂
New to engineering can someone let me know what this means?

@@3jahel7not sure about other daws but reaper shows LUFS while rendering also
I'm not sure about lufs, but I like dynamic range to be about 10-15dB.
-8 if you want the dynamics and depth, -6 to those edm tracks
💯💯
-6 is crazy, respect on the -9 from Wavy for not fronting
Bro why did so many ppl on youtube tell me -14 then 😭😭

Hey, what’s up and yes, definitely just add the notes to your booking so I know the direction if you have a reference track that is good as well
@ i mean moreso like a service where you break down for me like the different changes you made on the mix so i can see how u mixed it
I've been beating myself up about not being able to hit -3 or -5 but if 8 is a sweetspot for a lot people why am I worrying
