One of the least known erratas is Yaotl's discard ability being once per phase instead of once per round. 4 Discards (mythos, investigator, enemy, upkeep) really ramps up the odds of getting rid of a weakness. I used it in Desperate Duke who drew Dark Pact into Price of Failure.
I think the Ice Pick helps you investigate because it can break through obstacles and stuff. Like Ice, I suppose. I think it works more thematically in EOTE. But you could assume it's also breaking through old dirt or something.
Spoiler Alert! Recently went through Circle Undone and was playing Calvin. Rocked up to the scenario on the Unvisted Isle where the last location was to test against a 20 to finish the scenario. I had Calvin going against that test with a 36 lol
Sure, a Patrice that draws like crazy could make use of Keep Faith and make it okay. In Calvin, where you don't want to cycle your deck, it's bottom of the barrel.
The three of us agree that the 3 xp isn't worth it in the long run and you'll earn enough trauma as is. I'll personally even go a step further and say that I view taking In The Thick Of It with Calvin as a mistake.
@@markusschmidt9260 Some people do choose thematic weaknesses, or grab a few thematic weaknesses and choose randomly from those. I am a fan of that method, personally. Doomed Calvin is so very appropriate and it's not like you're intentionally choosing an 'easy' weakness.
@@lazulin Not an easy weakness, but still, the point of a random basic weakness is, that you are not supposed to know, what you get while creating the deck. I've heared from people, who redraw, when they get a real Non-issue or beneficial weakness like "Through the Gates" for Mandy. But deliberate pick and choose I have not heard about.
@@markusschmidt9260 Even if I draft weaknesses, I only do so after the deck is created. So you could choose say 10 thematic weaknesses and draw randomly from just that pool.
We had a Forgotten Age campaign, where Yaotl and I as Akachi saved Calvin in Shattered Aeons. (He died in the successful resolution, of course, due to the bonus traumas.) It was the first ever time, I purchased Scrying for a deck, just for him. But it really worked out.

Fun video and some good insight on an inv. I just file to the back of the red pile and figured id never play, thanks!

I'm playing Keep Faith in a Patrice deck and it's amazing. I cycle through my deck so fast that our chaos bag is always full of Bless tokens.

Best investigator everrrr
Maybe I missed it, but why no "In the Thick of it" ? Thought it is an auto include in his deck :-S

Doomed is my favorite basic weakness for Calvin, I highly recommend it. It becomes a fun mini game of will you perma-die to Doomed or Trauma first?!?
Recommend it? You mean, you pick and choose basic weaknesses?

Blood eclipse on Carolyn Fern guys! Come on! Lol.
Does the character get +1 stats for his trauma?
Because trauma starts as damage or horror on your character, they will increase his stats.
