The eagle originated in the early 1960s. The LeBaron name was a top trim of the Imperial (luxury marque made by Chrysler) back in the day. That eagle was used up until 1975 when Imperial was stopped as a separate make. They used it again when LeBaron came out in 1977. LeBaron was a coach builder that made custom bodies for Chrysler and other makes (like Duesenberg, Packard, Lincoln) in the 1920's to the 1950s. Chrysler bought them out in the 1950's. I fell in love with a 1964 LeBaron Imperial. The eagle was everywhere.
It’s an eagle, originally the insignia for the Imperial subdivision of Chrysler. Imperial had a trim level called “LeBaron,” hence the connection to the later Chrysler.
Yes.....Imperial LeBarons are all my grandfather used to own back in the "60's-"70's......Then Chrysler sadly watered down the last Imperials from 1990-1993 as they were technically nothing but a stretched K-car.....But still my grandfather owned a "93 Imperial as his last car.👍
🤯 I’m approaching 43yrs old and I grew up from day one riding in a lebaron V8 like this minus the medallion option. Black on black w/leather or vinyl and roll up windows. My parents had it before I was born and about 10yrs later. I thought the car would never die. Back then you could put your baby seat in the front 🤣. Would love to have this medallion version 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩.

With the F,M,J bodies the three biggest things are; 1)engine cradle. Before '88, they were made "Off-shore." Under severe use and/or salt exposure, the shock mounts crack & bend, making alignment impossible. It was a known problem, Chrysler had a TSB & patch kit for this very issue. 2) the iso clamp rubber pucks & wrapping. If you did not specifically order the vehicle with that deleted, the cradle sits between rubber pucks as well as the rear suspension, Easy way to know is to look at the rear shock plates. See any rubber around the spring/shock mount? Iso clamp. Makes for really weird handling when you start pushing in a corner or such. Only place to get fixes? Firm Feel, Inc (in Washington State) sells what you need. 3) Lean-burn. Junk it. You can't get repair parts and when it dies, you are stranded. Convert it immediately to 4-bbl, regular electronic ignition, and install a Walker 40430 Y-pipe kit. Better reliability, performance and mileage. I've owned about 6 of these cars, cop cars included, and I consider this modifications standard maintenance. Transforms the cars, makes them worlds better
I worked on these auto as a mechanic when they were new They were very plush and smooth running. However they were nothing but a jassed up Plymouth Volare.
My first car was a 1980 LeBaron. Pretty radically different from a '78, but also very similar in a lot of ways. I loved the thing, but I'm sure that's mostly nostalgia. Still, if I could find one in good condition tomorrow, I'd snatch it up without hesitation.
I would like to think I'm a car guy, but I never knew this one existed. Was aware of the late 70s Dodge Magnum GT with T-Tops for my pop had one, but not this.

Hi Bill - This car is AWESOME! My Aunt had a 77 Dodge Aspen 2 door with a 318. It was white with a golden brown half vinyl top, pinstripe and interior. It had the same plush interior. Unfortunately being a Maine car, it began to rust within 5 years. Question - what's going on with the driver's side dash upper right? It looks like the top of the dash is slightly raised from the instrument panel frame.
Now that you mention it, in the actual video it does look slightly raised. Didn't stand out in person, but maybe the heat has slightly caused it to do that??
Hey hey now, I caught that but didn't feel like having to reshoot the whole video! Figured there would be at least one smart ass. But YOU Sergio?? HAHAHAHA!

One would think that a professional car guy would know that.
The Imperial big body cars IMO were more majestic than Cadillac or other competitors.
@@R.J.1 they not only seemed more majestic but gave an air of greater performance and handling than their competitors.

You are so welcome!
It's a miracle that a Chrysler that old doesn't have any rust! Thank you,
Love finding them well preserved
True but if it was a southern car, that would explain it. If it came from the rust belt forget it

That thing has been sitting in a garage somewhere or it would have turned to dust by now. About as good as it got for Chrysler in 78.
