"Mama's Family", whether you preferred the network version or syndication, it was one of the strongest ensembles on television at that time. I have heard the production was a well-oiled machine, and when you look at each of the personalities that made it great - they were each disciplined performers, dedicated performers, and they were FUN. There wasn't a moment I didn't believe those actors as their characters were not part of one dysfunctional family. Lyman was my favorite from the moment the series debut - she doesn't get enough credit for being a gay icon, lol
Sadly, Dorothy did not talk about about a play she directed called "Vicious" at The Second Stage Theater The play was about the late Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen Dorothy gave a very young George Clooney to be in the play. I had a punk magazine called Punk Globe www.punkglobe.com. We became good pals but when moved east we lost touch. I am a loyal fan of Dorothy's and hope we will hang out again.
Love the very talented Dorthy Lyman. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We need a Mama's Family reboot !
That would be nice, but it wouldn't be the same without Ken Berry. But I would still watch a reboot.
Nope . Just watch the dvds .
She's Maura from Alf!
I just wanted to thank Dorothy Lyman for Opal. As soon as I saw the character at a young age...I knew I was witnessing a special talent. Thank you.❤️

I did know if her directing and she played A judge in blow. But as Opal Gardner I adored her. She seems like such a sweetie!!
The only reason I tuned into AMC was because of Opal. Such a great character that was.
I live for Dorothy Lyman...would love to have a Harvey Wallbanger at The Goal Post! She was something.

I like this interview, though I'm wondering why they couldn't clip the mics to their clothes
Maybe they didn’t have clips? lol🤷🏽♂️

She was also on The Edge Of Night in the 70's.
I hate to say it but our prejudices stand in the way of great talent. Dorothy Lyman as Director is a PERFECT example. When are we going to get it?
I wanted to play Vent role just to be with her ❤😘😘😘
"get rid of those men!" how kind?
So I guess no male actor over 50 has ever seen his career dwindle.
