It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such excitement and joy from a player who plays like he wants to go all the way every time he steps on the court.
It's also called "wasted energy". All those yells/screams to generate audience sympathy is wasted precious mental strength/energy that one can use down the line in long matches. His daddy should've taught him that.

What? Menslayer already has big weapons. His 1st serve, his trademark Czech backhand, his dangerous forehand, & his net game is very strong. At 18, he's already such a complete player. Even Ben said "huge game... keep going." The biggest hole right now is his 2nd serve.

Hold up. Rublev doesn't have Shelton's serve & doesn't return the bigger 1st serves as well. It's why he panics so much under pressure. Breaking can be MUCH harder for him when he's not making 1st serves (his 2nd isn't scary) & isn't getting looks at 2nd serves. Ruby couldn't handle Menslayer's 1st serve, but Shelton could.
I really wanted Mensik to win, but Shelton deserved it just this little bit more in the end. Congratulations! And what a player Memsik is at the age of 18!

Stats were better for him across the board. Lots of respect & a great exchange at the net between the two. "Huge game... everything for me since USO has been... keep going." So cool to hear Ben talk after the interviews about Sakkari sitting on his kick serve at TBT & his dad telling him to up the pace to 130mph.
