Improve your car’s handling and suspension!!

- This 2007 BMW E90 328i was in desperate need of suspension work. We used ECS Tuning's M control arm upgrade kit to improve the handling and steering feel. It made a huge difference! Many BMW chassis can utilize M suspension upgrades and ECS often has kits available!
#youtubeshorts #cars
On the E9x chassis these upgraded control arms will add some negative camber as well. You will also need to change the headlight level sensor rod. Everything can be found in the kit used in this video: click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=BZfgVZ7JGM8&mid=43304&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ecstuning.com%2Fb-trw-parts%2Fm3-1m-front-control-arm-upgrade-kit%2F31102283577mkt1%2F
Changing the headlight sensor rod ONLY applies if your headlights are the Bi-Xenon model. If they’re the basic halogen headlights then this isn’t needed.
almost the only guy who mentioned that bushings need a load to get them tied. Bunch of professional mechanics show how they doing suspension, bushings and they don't put a load on the bushing before fastening nuts...
Lol just go to rock auto don’t waste your money it comes in a set n not piece by piece 😂 and at more than half that price
@@HealtherSkelter question is not about price, but the quality of job that you need to have. Everywhere on UA-cam you will find how to replace parts, but they do it as a sloppy mechanic... This guy is one of few guys who points to key elements of the job.
Nice… any tips on making the job easier to change the rear subframe bushing on an E46?
Bro I stay in Atlanta and I can tell you these roads will have you in a mechanic or rim shop year around.
Dude they are horrible im in 25 min from suntrust park it’s horrible
@@thatboijessy94 I feel your pain. I hate driving out here.
I agree and I was in an Audi...which is like BMW light
@@zacharysherry2910 I drive a BMW and I’m still in Atlanta. I’ve hit potholes as big as a backyard kids swimming pool. Bent my rim three different times.
@@Yomamatitts those are high stakes my friend :D
After 4 kids I have no faith in my pull out game. I’ll use the ball joint remover
LMAO!
Don’t forget about the alignment.
Don't forget to aim both tires right at your nose 🐽
Never fun telling a customer they’ve ruined $1000 worth of tyres by avoiding a $100 alignment after having suspension work done
AU prices btw
I drove a 87 Lincoln Town car with the exact same problem for about 5 years. Then third gear went out drove it for another year and sold it for the engine. They need to bring back the panther.
Nice short motivational sayings. And assembled by ECS kits are really convenient. Way to go, guys!
The first front end rebuild I tackled by myself was on my 97 740il. That car was mint! 4.4l was a beast.
I didn’t torque my shit under load it’s been 2 years I haven’t had a single problem or issue with them they are still In fantastic condition
Yes omg 😱 Ty so much I’m such a fan of your work I hope to finally meet you one day, you truly are a master at your craft
Lmfao he's definitely a master at something 😂 but I don't think it's this
Be good or be good at it awesome quote😊
Yes, atlanta roads are either really smooth or look to be in a warzone. Problem is the rain comes down fast and fill the holes so you dont see them at all at night.
Dude that wear was wild. That wheel moved three inches when he hit the brakes and even shook it by hand!
I would rather spend a little more over at fcp euro or bimmerworld than wait 6 months for ecs to send me the wrong parts
True story
I'm still rocking my style 161's too.
I constantly get asked when I'm gonna change them.
The answer is never. I run proxes 225/45/17's all round on my 330d/ m57/6spd.
When everyone's cracking their MV's, I'm blasting over pot holes with absolutely zero fux.
Proper solid little nuggets of a wheel. 😂
How do you put weight on the car when it’s on the Jack already to install the arms ?
Put the car on an alignment rack that supports the car under the wheels and tighten the bushings.
@@benztech2262 what if I don’t have alignment jack?
@@TheShakir98 then go to a shop
@@TheShakir98 You could make some wheel cribs I believe they would work.
Yes this would be a good short.
ECS tuning, where our sale prices are often fake and we won’t tell you we can’t source your parts until after you paid us for them
Atlanta roads suck. Been here 30 years. Moved to buckhead, 1 year later needed to replace 2 engine mounts
So how did u torque them with the vehicle on the ground?
Following
You can jack the suspension to ride height while in the air to torque to spec
@@melvino9693 he said loaded by the weight of the car? How is jacking up the wheels while the vehicle is suspended going to create a load sufficient enough to reproduce the actual vehicle weight? The only way to do this effectively is by having a pit or a full rail lift that keeps the tires on a surface. I think that’s what the guy was asking.
@@butterkiawa the guy in the video isn’t 100% correct. They’re supposed to be torqued at the correct ride height (full vehicle weight puts it at that height). The actual weight doesn’t matter , only the angle at which the arm is torqued because it’ll prematurely wear if you torque it at an unloaded angle
@@Trikzy3D yes your right but unless you measured ride height before the replacement process (measuring the distance between the wheel and the fender or the strut cavitation under full load) figuring out the exact ride height while the car was in the air would just create confusion or unnecessary steps. You are exactly right in the fact that it needs to just be at ride height and yes he and I were both wrong about the vehicle weight! Just looked up the installation requirements, but I don’t generally work on cars with a 4 post or 2 post lift. I have a drive on rail system so situations like that are less common for me! I appreciate the feedback though! Sorry if I sounded rude lol
Idk what’s worse… Atlanta roads part, or the ECS tuning part
If your pull out game is weak 💀
My couch pulls out....but I don't 🤣🤣🤣
@Adolf Cripler Opinions are like assholes.....
Never tell the masses something is easy.
Dope content! Thanks for the info
you don't need no fancy tool, a pry bar shall do it💪🏽
Euro vehicle thrust arms always seem to only last like 30-40k miles
As far as I know M3 control arms don't need to be tightened under the load due to their construction. But won't hurt anyway.
Everyone tells you to load the suspension when tightening these. But never how to tighten them while the car is on the ground
I think it’s easy for them to say cause easily they have the air jack stand so it’s understandable I’m actually having mine replaced this Friday I was going to attempt to do it on my own but I was thinking how would I tighten the bolts on ride height on top of it my car is lowered an I work nights so man I’m not trying to stress out I’ll leave it for my mechanic ☺️🫨 & besides my mechanic is really good at what he does really good pricing 4.5 star ⭐️ reviews 🤗
Nah !
Lesson of the day !
Start with Salatul Fajr and end with Al Isha.

awesome tutorial 👌 👍🏿 👏
they are indeed easy, as long as you have a 2 post, or you like to work on your back
My ball joiints were toast to
i been hearing clunk sounds on my bmw f30 thought it might be my struts but it could be the control arms eh?
Check everything including ball joints. Most likely it is a bushing.
If it’s clunking when turning the wheel at a standstill it’s probably the control arms
BMW cars have the most repair videos. Apparently that's why they're so good.

It’s not premature wear lol. If you don’t tighten will car fully loaded and 400 pounds of pass ver weight the bushing will rip and leak instantly… someone needs the BMW TIS manual.
Wish I could get this for my caf
I love you man 🤝🏻
LESSON OF THE DAY... "RE-ALIGN YOUR CAR AFTER SWAPPING OUT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS "
For real , used to work at a parts store/shop and I had the guys redo the front steering and suspension parts since i needed it , they got done late with it and we couldn’t get it on the alignment rack since it was late so I drove it home that night with the worst steering I’ve ever experienced , must of looked like a drunk driver swerving around , any bump and I had to counter steer so hard , tried to go on the highway , what a horrible idea , as soon as you get to 40 -50 the steering wheel would pull hard to the left, so I found my way on the side streets . Longest 20 mile drive of my life
@@Element0145😂😂😂😂
Why does BMW continue to make front suspensions like this?
I’m so confused as to why you are lifting the wrench when you have a ratchet on the hex bit…
Atlanta is a dream compared to New Orleans
Better check your CC statement, ECS is known to cause issues
wait how do u tighten the bolts with the suspension under load if u need the car off the ground???
Take ur jack and put a piece of wood on top the pump on the brake rotor till the car lifts ever slightly the tighten👍🏾
Those suspension parts are way too thin and underbuilt for the real world. Makes me glad I drive an 85 F150. My twin I-beam front end is strong as fuck.
I hit a pothole I'll fuck the pothole up instead of the suspension haha
The car is 3k lbs bud they are plenty fine
@@tgshark1 They're too thin and underbuilt. I wouldn't trust suspension parts that spindly on a fucking go-kart that weighs less than 1,000 pounds.
Cool dude! You’re comparing a truck, with a sports car!! Tell us you know nothing lol. Oh but “we’ll paw always said drive a Merica truck with big wheels and such!!” 🤡

Good post.
This is a dumb question but how do you tighten it down at normal ride height 😂.
thank for this !! i gotta replace mine and i’ve been dreading it because i thought it was hard
Everything is easy on a lift. Poor man with a jack a little different. Not difficult but a challenge if you haven’t done before
It’s hard only because the m3 control arm bushings are a little thicker. I never got mine done because of this and ended up returning them (the ones I were going to replace were in okay condition anyways)
@@iiplaya that sucks. I would’ve hit them in with rubber mallet. You were right there. But I understand the frustration. I’m going thru that with my transmission.
@@BimmerMafia how are you supposed to torque them down with the car on the ground???
My pull out game definitely weak😅😩🥵
Need help!! I bought an e90 bmw that was lowered and needed an alignment. The shop i took it too says it needs an adjustable front low control arm. I cannot find an adjustable front low control arm, the ones I have found include the word “rear”. Would this still work? And why does it need this? Is it because the car was lowered?
Bro If u were in the tri state area NYC queens long island. You would make a killing working on BMW's. We have the fastest BMW's in the tri state. Mcarelife Rk tunes Redz powerhouse. Etc
Same expect for the level rod
what's the brand?
Can you do M3/4 upper and lower control arms on the f30/f32
which m3 control arms are these? 335is?
ECS Tuning is trash… I got my kit from FCPEuro.
I will say, handling is much better, but it’s much more crash-y over bumps. Kinda made me regret doing it
How to tighten when a load on it? Go under ?
You don't have a set of ratchet ring spanners? You should.
Not convinced by bmw parts they seem to wear out faster then other car brands... Own a 00 Tacoma built like a tank live in Atlanta and still have stock parts. Oem should be able to last.
Dude you can't compare a Toyota to a BMW. The whole philosophy of bmw is a normal car that drives like a sportscar. There are many points where you have to do a compromise in being sporty and long lasting.
If your paying money reliability should be priority,
@@DIANOMICS if you just want to drive from a to b than of course BMW is not your brand. But for sports driving it's clearly one of the best Brands.

Put a pump jack under the control arm to load the suspension.
I had to replace the front control arms on my Audi and the subframe had to be dropped down. Whole job was $1600
you do not have to drop the sub frame

You just said all the boat should be tightened after the car is settle at ride height you never showed that because you never did it
Look at the difference on those "OE" parts...I'm sorry but there's NO WAY ur $40 part is the same as their $210 part
be careful putting m control arms on non-m cars.... if they are x-drive non-m cars, you could seriously screw up the the entire steering rack and alignment....
My pull out game isn't strong. The puller is way easier.
Yep Atlanta roads will kill your BMW suspension. That’s if you can still find your car in the bottomless pot holes.
