Chromatica was awful at first listen but got bettet every time I listened to it. I loveee alice, replay and babylon. Stupid Love and Rain On Me are pretty good as well. 1000 doves is okay. The rest is kinda awful still

You're so right. I was shocked at how terrible it was at first listen. Now it's my 3rd favourite album of the year and Babylon, Alice, Replay are in my top 10 most streamed songs of the year.

I’m a giant Little Monster and I had to let this album grow on me. When she did her revisit, she liked it more, which is what she did with Rare by Selena Gomez. There’s nothing wrong with a grower. Growers are better than showers at times, bc they wait and pounce on u when you least expect it.

This album was upstaged by so many great records that were dropped this year. Chromatica sounds 10 years too old for 2020. Several songs grew on me over time but overall I hated the record. Don't get me wrong, I love Lady Gaga's Born This Way and Joanne eras, she's a talented singer and performer.
I liked it but wow critics really gave it higher scores compared to Artpop and Joanne? Those two were clearly more authentic & challenging.
I'm glad to know that other people dont really like rain on me, it just feels annoying

i obviously love gaga, but i honestly was very disappointed by her lyrics on this album. I thought that most of the themes that she talked about were very interesting, but the lyrics sounded too simplistic for me to truly enjoy (some of her lyrics on born this way, artpop and even joanne are amazing, I was kind of expecting that level). But still, the music videos are really good and made me appreciate the songs even more :)

I agree with this. As a little monster, this album is 7/10 still good, but half the songs sound the same. The premise of this album was to take the listener to a different world, and I feel like that wasn’t expanded upon enough. If she wanted to take us to a new world then use foreign and obtuse instruments like the didgeridoo, theremin, etc. Or ones that sound alien like the glass armonica/harp and the Celeste. This album is already good, and I feel that it could be great if it was taken further. I do like the cinematic feel, I just think the album needs more grit and even some rock elements in order to really take the listener on a journey.
Edit: Or the album could be taken into a completely different direction, leaning even farther into the techno elements but still keeping the soul that’s there in every song. I feel like the album dipped its toes into the world of Chromatica, and didn’t dive in head first. It still is one of the better albums this year though, “Rain on me”, “Enigma” “Sine from Above” “Alice” “911” (esp the music video, that was fucking great) “Stupid Love” and “Babylon” were all amazing additions to the world of pop music as a whole, and I’m excited to see where she goes from here.
This album is a total garbage definitely Art pop and Joanne deserved much more but people prefer trash 😒

@@dogsworld5386 the problem with Joanne was that it’s too much of a try hard album. You can tell that she’s really trying to steer it into a particular direction (country) and it backfires for the most part. Songs like Sinner’s Prayer and Angel Down just come across almost as a joke with how country-sounding they are and the final product ends up being close to trash IMO!
The only songs I listen to regularly from that album are Come To Mama, Hey Girl and Perfect Illusion. The rest is kinda meh.

Alice, Stupid Love, Rain on Me, 911, and Sour Candy were pretty great but the rest of the album fell flat for me. Too similar and not up to snuff. ARTPOP had so many different genres in one tracklist. Chromatica maybe had two. Also it desperately needed Haus Labs Babylon.
Funny because when artpop got release. People are hating it because she include many genre. There always people writhing on her album.

I think a lot people are not used to this The Fame/Born This Way era style of singing from GaGa anymore because she's kinda tone down for her singing style in Joanna and Shallow

I don't know about others, but I kinda fell like she sometimes is not in the mood for listening a entire album. we can see that on that video of the Rare album by Selena Gomez. she reacted twice and at the second time she liked a lot more, because she was a lot more in the mood.

Honestly i was a bit disappointed at first too, but how can you NOT vibe with Alice when the beat drops??? Everything after that really blends together, but the beginning isbvery strong. And some tracks really stand out if you play them on their own, like Rain On Me, Enigma, Replay, Sine from above and Babylon
And it didn’t age well. Rain on Me, Replay, 911 (occasionally), and 1000 Doves are the only ones I’ll revisit in 2021
