I bought an album of hers in the 50's with this song on it....it was different however...much slower.........not a jazz scat like this one... love her always...she was so great !!!
I adore the Divine Miss Sarah [Sassy] Vaughan! In a class all by herself. My biggest regret is that I had not developed my passion for her by 1987 and turned down the opportunity to see her live in Toronto- hindsight is a wonderful - and annoying - thing!
"and you all know who i am , my name is ella fitzgerald" hahahahahahhaha xD This woman was funny :) I luv her. She's my best friend, when I feel sad....
yep, it is mentioned in her documentary film that on that year she got issues catching her breath while walking in the airport. and got slightly out of tune in one of her concert.
Just a connection I made...Amy Winehouse views Miss Sarah Vaughn as an inspiration- as mentioned in her song October Song where she references Vaughn. And she also has a song called Just Friends, the song Sarah is performing now. I just thought this was interesting...Great performance by the way.
Cannot be in 1990. Sass was gone in April 1990. She did her last concert with George, Andy and Harold in Tokyo in 1989, Looks like Frank Collette piano, Bob Maize on bass and I didn't see the drummer.
I love you... Sarah... magnifique voix.. superbe scat vocal comme j'aime.. !! Mille bravos je suis aux anges.. plus que parfait.. j'adore

Now that was the best 2 minutes and 28 seconds of my day. She's a joy to listen to.
Sarah is so great and so charming !!
Excellent bebop arrangement of this classic. Thanks for this great video!
Love Sarah singing this, and yes, sadly, she did die that year- all too soon....xxx

Charming!
@crazykid421410
both great ladies , class & talent
Her voice may not have been quite as limber as when she was young, but she still sounds fabulous. What a performer!
ageless!
No way that first line🫠🫵😍
what a killin rhythm section. Anyone know who's playing? Almost impossible to see the drummer and pianist...
Of course you know this was issued probably in 1990 but the performance is from around 1985. I can tell.

Well this song is a jazz standard, it wasnt made by Sarah. Im sure it inspired Amy's song partly, at least the title.
sho u right

true, but amy's Just Friends is not this song. but yeah sarah vaughan was amy's role model though, amy got her sassiness just right :)

Did she die that year? Sad...
She's better than Ella, and that bassist kicks.
