Lauren, I use Tex 45 in the top and bottom. Also size 18 needle. I have also put Tex80 in the top and 45 in the bobbin. I don’t use the thread cutter with TEX 80.
I have a TL 18 too, which is my only bag making machine. Seeing Lauren, a tenured professional, also struggle with skipped stitches and hesitation made me feel way less incompetent about the issues I've had with this thing! I can't tell you how many times I've also been like "do I even know what I'm doing like... at all?". I'm sure it's not fun to struggle so publicly, but damn it was so validating, lol.
You are so dang cute. I am going to try TEX 45 on my TL2020 seeing that so many sewists are using it. I still have my More Me Know project box and now I am inspired to actually make this bag. Thanks Lauren. I have been watching you for many years and have learned so much.
I sew on a Juki TL 2020, and I use Tex 45 - top & bobbin. I do put the thread through the first tension disc when I wind my bobbin; I find that when I don't, the bobbin wants to unwind on me. I usually use a 100/16 needle, and *never* use the automatic cutter & threader. According to Juki Junkies, the TL machines should be able to go up to Tex 70 - top & bobbin, but I haven't tried that yet.
Walmart is getting rid of their fabric section. They are selling the fabric for $1 per yard, I found 6 bolts of $3 per yard, but the outdoor & faux fur is $1.50 per yard. I bought 2 shopping carts full of fabric yesterday. Stock up while you can I always say.
I use tex 45 top and bottom and can use tex 70 but not in bobbin and never use thread cutter on either Hopefully you didn't get a messed up pedal that speeds up and cuts when it wants mine been replaced still does it
Several years ago I had to go to an unemployment workshop. The leader asked at one point what was a difficult thing to ho through. Some people said lost my job, lost my car..no response from other attendees... I had lost my dog..Sir Frederick...then people lost it...oh that's the worst. Our little furry friends give us unconditional love and joy...even if they got in the trash and it got all over the kitchen the day before...
When the needle breaks: don’t cut the thread off of the project or machine. Remove the bobbin and case. Then lift both ends of the thread and it will pull up the needle tip without any damage.
I’m new to bag making and all the tips I come across are so helpful! What are you doing with those little bags as you sew the zipper frame (I don’t know if that’s the right term for it!)
Check and make sure your thread isnt wrapped around the tip of your needle. I have that same exact machine and when I get skipped stitches, Its ALWAYS because the thread got wrapped around the tip of the needle funky!!!!
The 1181 foot I’m using is a narrow or thin foot. Sunny sewing or sewing gold carries it! I used to but it doesn’t make sense for me since I don’t sell sewing machines haha so I’ll leave it for them

Oh no, sorry to hear about your family cat Conner. I hope you all heal from your loss.

I love that lavender roses colorway!

Yes I know I am watching a no longer live video. I just felt like sharing a sewing secret.
Absolutely!!
I have the Juki 2010tl q and the 18 QVP I love them and will never get a different machine.
Love that for you!
That’s my machine. The micro lift is fabulous for bag making.
I use this machine for bags all the time. It will skip if you go through tape. Any tape. Probably that 1 difficult spot had tape under it.

Hahaha it was preventing the vinyl from sticking to the foot 🤣🤣🤣
Lauren I have the same issues with that machine. I’m ready to get rid of it. I’ve tried everything. Give a hug to chanova for me

Good to know. It may have happened!
What foot are you using? My 1181 foot doesn’t let me get very close to zipper. Love this bag

Also when using Tex 70 you need another bobbin to adjust the tension for thicker thread. Sorry
Did you look at the manuel?.
Manuel was busy
Tex 35 isn't strong enough for bags I would recommend doing double stitchinghad mine for 3 yrs I love it but NOT for top stitching
You can use Tex 70 just don’t use the cutter and manually thread.
its 1241 MT, TIME FOR TEQUILA!!!
❤❤
Sorry to hear about Connor...
Do you like this machine better than your industrial?
Hahaha no
Don't blame it on the kiddo...😂😂😂
You need a nap....or more tequila...lol...😁😁😁
