Lucky you! That's the best kind because you can really put your stamp on it. So pleased you found the video content useful. I do hope you visit my garden again and stay in touch. Let me know if there is anything you're stuck with and you think I may be able to help. Diane 😀.
It's amazing to see how many plants you've managed to fit in that narrow strip out in front of your wall along the sidewalk, and they're absolutely thriving!
Thank you Mary. I do love that border. We've just had a letter from our council asking us to cut back all trees and borders spilling onto the public footpath because they are going to lay new pavements. I nearly cried. However, I rang them up straight away and a very nice chap came round to the house to have a look at the border and advise. Our house is on the corner of two roads and I was delighted when he told me that it was the road to the side of our house that they would be working on and not the front. So the border remains to bloom for another summer 😀.
Thank you for vlog, your garden is looking great, your daughter is lucky to have you, you might not have many plants left, when it comes to shareing !!!im so happy for your daughter and her new house.
Hello Mairead and thank you for your lovely feedback. Jess moved into her new house today. We've just got back home at 9.30 pm, so we're very tired. I didn't even get a chance to have a look at her new garden. But we did get her fish settled into their new pond and Monty found two balls in the shrubbery. So he's very happy 😀.
Hi there. You're very welcome. It seems to be a popular video. There must be a lot of new gardeners out there, or maybe gardeners who want a cottage garden border. Glad you found it useful and thanks, as always, for your lovely feedback. Diane x
Hi Diane, brilliant advice as usual, cottage gardens rely on self seeding and plant divisions, it was a frugal way to create a garden. I was on holiday last week and lucky to visit Great Dixter, wow. The house and gardens are fabulous, you are echoing Christopher Lloyd his gardens used repetition throughout, he managed it in a way that looks natural, like it just happened Genius! Thanks for sharing.🐞🌻🌱
Your daughter is so lucky to have you helping her build a beautiful garden. I just planted Lady’s mantle and Nepeta this season, and I’m loving them! I’m taking notes on your recommendations. Your hardy geraniums are really lovely. Wonderful video! 🌸🌸🌸😀🌱
Thank you so much. I'm glad you found the video helpful. We have just returned home from Jessica's new house. It's 9pm and the end of a very, very long day. I didn't even get a chance to have a look in her garden. But we did get the fish settled in their new pond and there were loads of birds singing. I may do a video about her plans for her new garden. That is, if she has a plan for the garden 😂. What do you think?
Great selection of plants for new gardeners. I've been gardening for years and thought every Iris came from a Rhizome. I'll be looking out for some Dutch ones now. Thank you Diane. Your garden is looking beautiful.
Ah thank you Wendy. I always look forward to reading your lovely comments. Yes, you and I both with regards to buying up as many Dutch Iris as possible. I have totally fallen in love with them. Hope you're enjoying the lovely weather. Diane x
I wish you could join us too Susie. I think we would get along just fine. Jess moved into her new house today and we have all been helping. Just got back home about an hour ago. It's now 10.30 pm, so we're very tired. I didn't even get a chance to have a good look around her new garden. Maybe tomorrow. I think she'll be very happy there. We got her fish settled into their new pond and Monty has been exploring his new garden and has found two balls already. So he's very happy 😁.
Thank you! Perfect timing - first summer in a new garden that needs a lot of love. This is so helpful. 💗
