On the reciprocal, the OnePlus 12 also deals with extreme glare very well. My GF and I are avid ice hockey fans and go to games quite often. She is a devoted iPhone user and is currently using the 15 pro max. Still, she borrows my 12 at games to take photos of the players on the ice surface. The hasselblad color science does a far better job of filtering out the extreme glare from the ice surface. For whatever reason, she cannot get the same result from her 15 pro max. When comparing photos side by side from each device the OnePlus 12 clearly does a better job.
In my extensive personal testing, the OnePlus 12 has been the best smartphone photography (behind the Pixel 8 Pro, which I no longer have.) My ranking for phones I currently own: - OnePlus 12 - S23 Ultra - iPhone 15 Pro Max The detail that the OnePlus 12 captures is very good, especially from its 3x periscope telephoto.
A very honest review, especially with the details are given--regardless of which phone is being mentioned. Missing on the Internet in general and UA-cam more particular--guidance on just how to use those cameras on the OnePlus12. It seems that anyone owning a OnePlus12 is intimately familiar with how to use it and all its features.
I'm afraid after few updates the phone is not stable. I remember during OP7 community on reddit got crazy after several unstable update. And the same time the CEO Carl also quit from the company and OP merge with Oppo department and also our open beloved OS software gone. Now I'm in a decision to try it again.
Great content & well made. Subbed right away ! Loved it 🤩 This video single handedly pushed me over the edge to purchase the OP 12 (now waiting for it to arrive). I also watched the original video linked in the description. It would be awesome if you could release a remake of the original video, considering that all 3 phones (especially the OnePlus 12) have undergone some updates ranging from minor to major aspects of the camera. All the best, keep growing 💯😊
Great honest review - Were these photos on the OnePlus taken using it's standard/auto settings or did you manually adjust the camera settings to get the best shot?
@@CEONTHEMAKING How about trying a vivo x100 phone a oppo find X7 phone xiaomi 14 ultra those cameras will beat up those camera phones you have their especially xiaomi 14 ultra
Can be tedious, but the best combo you can ever have is Oneplus camera system + Google camera mod for your specific Oneplus phone. Please try this. You don't have to post a vid or anything. Just experience this. Its worth it.
Very much well explained and with side by side comparison to come across the differences in light flares, exposures and colors. It a very basic comparison tbh, but shows the difference in cameras during night shots. I give this a win for the Oneplus 12. Of course Apple and Samsung beats the 1+12 on other camera features but we can clearly see that Oneplus will be a major competetor for the 2. Major firmware and software updates will also be a very important key factor in terms of phone operation and camera features and performance. Keep up the good my good man!
Not only it controlled the lights sources but manages to capture more details on the bricks and texts on the sign boards etc. good job. If they only improved the portrait shots in capturing more sharp details, then this phone would be hard to beat at the price.
One thing OnePlus has been doing very very well is controlling light source highlights in low light or noght time shots. This brand has been on top when ti comes to exposure control since their very early models like the OnePlus 5. And the most negative or drawback of this camera is the inability to capture sharp detailed faces of human subjects on portrait shots. I think it has improved a lot now but even with the last year model, the crisp facial details on portrait shots were always missing or less compared to its competitors like the samsung or iphone. They take very very detialed and sharp images of the subjects in portrait shots while OnePlus always failed to maintain those things. But we're seeing some positive changes and improvements now.
do you think lens flare and reflections are due to the coating or sapphire on iPhone? Also, both Samsung and iPhone have very aggressive post processing, which maybe explains why they excel at day photography in perfect ideal conditions, but they struggle at night, where the software decision are exposed more. i'm just guessing, because it seems like the oneplus does less software stuff so stuff looks less exciting, but there's less wonky pictures, more consistent overall
The iPhone uses sapphire glass to cause reflection. One thing you said is wrong. One plus actually uses a more powerful algorithm from its sister company oppo.
Hello everyone. Can you please tell me how long the battery will last? I have 9+ and can't use it for more than 7 hours without charging. Any improvement for this model? Thank you
Thank you for your video! How is the OnePlus 12's modem and battery life? We tried an iPhone 15 Pro, but the batteries never lasted five hours. We swapped them for iPhone 15 Pro Maxs and could not maintain decent call signals. We also never had 5G service. I thought aboout getting Samsung S24 Ultras, primarily because of the alleged stronger modem and longer software support. What are your thoughts? Thank you. JP
Thank you for sharing this video comparing these general photographs at night. I found my photos of a night time bonfire using the oneplus 12 to be exactly the same as it was in real life. Minimal to no flares and color accuracy is impressive
The thing with one plus is that many cant use it in the right way. One plus camera with Hasselblad is not just a camera you snap a photo right from your pocket, well you can do that but if you really take your time and learn about the master pro mode you can come out with pictures you would not even believe.
Most reviews I have read on UA-cam say that the Oneplus 12 is the worst at night photography. But you images clearly show that it is the best. The Oneplus 12 effort in the photo comparison of the pink sign is impressive. Sign is perfect and foreground and background are perfect. Much more detail than either of the others.
I have OnePlus 12 and iPhone 14. Granted, the 14 isn't quite the 15 Pro Max, but the night photos on the OnePlus 12 are spectacular. And then add the fast charging, incredible screen and so on and the result is, in my opinion, the best phone you can buy right now.
Then possibly the camera performance is being improved in the latest version? Compared to what it was in previous version as you stated ( your previous review was opposite of this review)
I only showed two night-time photos in the 1st video. Both of those photos are in this video too. All the other photos in this video were after the update.
@@CEONTHEMAKING okay that's clear for me and makes me conclude the photos were still good before this latest update...So hardly anything changed after the latest update interms of rear camera photography!; I was bit overwhelmed thinking there was a improvement in photography after this update since i haven't updated to latest version and probably i won't because of new issues (battery drain) ...
Just looking for the best performing Android phone in terms of primarily the most flattering, natural looking and pleasing skin tone selfie camera, min. 90W wired charging, with no heating issues during charging and in general, with a minimalistic yet customizable OS. Looking into the 14 Ultra, OP 12, X100 Pro, Oppo Find 7X Ultra and some of the Sony phones. Can't decide! Which one has the absolutely most pleasing looking selfie camera performance between these, with the other criterias in place?
I think the OP12 is one of the best all rounders you can get in the US. Especially if you're looking for dual physical sim support (curved/flat display preferences aside).
Great video, man! Because of your review, I got mine yesterday. It's a phenomenal phone. It's like using a phone between S24U and S24+. Lastly, the price to performance is hard to beat. Unless brand is important to a consumer. Kudos!
I hope that the United States does not decide to cancel a great brand like One Plus, just as it did unfairly with Huawei when it saw that it was growing.
side by side regular pics are almost identical compared to the 24 ultra even in day light and sometimes even better time to time. Why can we not just say that? Why do people suck that Samsung and iphone D so hard, are you all paid or do youtubers feel pressure to not say anything negative about Samsung or Iphone?... Seen so many comparisons now and side by side when it comes to pictures it is just as good on One plus as it is for 24 Ultra. You are the first youtuber that has the balls coming out saying one plus is just as good in some cases. Other youtubers playing down the one plus for some reason, like they are in a damm cult for the samsung and iphone or something, fu crazy.
"For some reason" is that they make more ad revenue on Samsung and iphone reviews. And to continue piggybacking off the algorithm boosting Samsung and Iphone, OnePlus reviews will often put those other phones in the title of a OnePlus review. It's quite simple and obvious.
because when you spend so much money, you want it to be good until some other competeter does it better for much less money then you auto get into angry mode and you start sucking that D jsut to justify your choice
I am probably going to get this phone sometime this summer now that I have done a bunch of research over the last month. Because it has received so many positive reviews since its release, I have literally been waiting to see videos with the exact title "I Was Wrong About The Oneplus 12..." pop up, just so i could see the good and bad of the phone. In a huge surprise to me, the first such video I have seen is actually giving more praise and credit to this phone 😆
3:31 Not to take away how great the photos are, Oneplus' image also has a slight reflection of the sign "country road" just around the lower front wheels albeit being very faint. Just pointing it out.
Hi, I'm currently using a pixel 6. I'm tossing up between a Pixel 8 vs one plus 12. I lost hope withe samsung because the camera lag is real. Taking a photo of my kids moving I'm getting consistent shots on my pixel, samsung 23+ is blurred. I wanted to know if oneplus 12 also has that shutter lag for moving subjects. Also op12 is $720, and Pixel 8 256 is $530.
This smartphone is worth it, I really liked the design, I recently purchased One plus 12R (genshin impact Limited edition), and I’m simply amazed at how hard they tried to make this device)
I want to buy a good camera , espiecially in low light, one+12 is ok? I can buy Honor magic 5 pro, One+12 i the same money. Which is better in camera and overall. Thanks for help.
I was using oneplus9pro 4-5 years.. im still satisfied with how my phone perform. Only wifi stopped working and i tried everything. I even reset phone to old version updates but it didn't work. So tomorrow im going to buy oneplus12 😊 I can't wait for it. Oneplus is having best phones out there comparing every phone on market in same price range. It perform great with cameras, snapdragon 8 is crazy for games, and battery is freaking awesome 😎
I saw a couple of sample photos comparing it to other flagships with night time photos and I immediately knew it was way better than others. Night photos are the only way to compare camera quality on the phones. And right now OnePlus is a leader at least in USA since we don't have some of those Chinese competitors in America like vivo, xiaomi etc. Overall iPhone is still the best because of the video quality, Samsung comes in for the Zoom features at second best and OnePlus might take over the whole thing next year if they add some better zoom capabilities and video quality.
But this is insane thing that OnePlus 12's battery health will decreases by 20% after 1600 charge cycle while other phones's battery health decreases by 20% after 500 to 600 charge cycle and galaxy s23 ultra and 24 ultra has 1000 charge cycle.. Which is seriously insane. So even after 4 years of usage OnePlus 12 will still remain with around 4300 mah battery which almost enough to get through entire day and another advantage is that it takes only 30 minutes to charge 0-100%
The mind boggling thing here is not that oneplus isnt as the top performer in some ascpects, its the fact that its being compared to phones way above its category
I've had the complete opposite experience with the one plus 12 to others, mainly the tech reviewers. The battery sucked. Cameras were about a 6/10 Night shots were horrible
It would be nice if someone could take photos on the 12 with its launch software and take the identical photos again with the latest updates installed. If the software improvements have caused the phone to beat other flagships (running their latest software) this should be publicised.
Excellent honest camera review of the OnePlus 12. Your review helped me decide that I will definitely upgrade from my OP 9pro (great overall phone for me the past 3 years) to the 12 soon. Also, the battery life is second to none.
I have the S24 Ultra and my Brother the OP12 and yes. For less price it gives excellent results to fight the S24 Ultra. Sometimes i think i should have picked the OP12 😅.
This is nothing new. OnePlus night photography has always been better ever since the 10 series. I use pixel 7 and OnePlus 9. I bought OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 11 for my mom and my mama and I was shocked when I see the photos they took during our family gatherings held at night. Despite the lowlights, our faces look good and there's very minimal noise on the picture. Their photos make the photos I take using my pixel look like meh in comparison.

In my extensive personal testing, the OnePlus 12 has been the best smartphone photography (behind the Pixel 8 Pro, which I no longer have.)
My ranking for phones I currently own:
- OnePlus 12
- S23 Ultra
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
The detail that the OnePlus 12 captures is very good, especially from its 3x periscope telephoto.
What settings did you use to take these pictures? night mode?
Yea
@CEONTHEMAKING they look fantastic 👍
@@fan_dan_go1545 never settle for a reason
Great content & well made. Subbed right away ! Loved it 🤩 This video single handedly pushed me over the edge to purchase the OP 12 (now waiting for it to arrive). I also watched the original video linked in the description. It would be awesome if you could release a remake of the original video, considering that all 3 phones (especially the OnePlus 12) have undergone some updates ranging from minor to major aspects of the camera. All the best, keep growing 💯😊
Because oneplus 12 is using sony that's why is good. Sony is the best in camera.
The telephoto lens is practical from a China manufacturer.
Great honest review - Were these photos on the OnePlus taken using it's standard/auto settings or did you manually adjust the camera settings to get the best shot?
Automatic
@@CEONTHEMAKING Thanks for confirming buddy :-)
@@CEONTHEMAKING How about trying a vivo x100 phone a oppo find X7 phone xiaomi 14 ultra those cameras will beat up those camera phones you have their especially xiaomi 14 ultra
Can be tedious, but the best combo you can ever have is Oneplus camera system + Google camera mod for your specific Oneplus phone. Please try this. You don't have to post a vid or anything. Just experience this. Its worth it.
Is indian version a color os?
Obviously the OnePlus 12 is the best given its the cheapest by a long way.
do you think lens flare and reflections are due to the coating or sapphire on iPhone?
Thank you
This one have improved battery a lot but if that's what you want go for honor magic 6 pro buddy
Thank you. JP

Thank you for this video. This is what us viewers are looking for from a Tech Reviewer. Honest, non-biased reviews.
I’ve never noticed the weird reflections from iPhone cameras before. Now I wanna know wtf is going on lol.
great video, which phone case is used in this video.
amzn.to/4acOnNC
Can you elaborate its video quality ability to maintain dynamic range and you should move around while making such videos
How to learn more
@@randomadskipper3855 yes,how to learn please...😊
Apple's sensors are older inferior hardware.
Got my oneplus 12 (Black) love it.
Saw this vid, got it a week ago, you are right, fantastic phone! and the battery life is amazing! Thx for the review!
I am using OnePlus 12 since February so far this phone is a beast.
What about the camera and video quality
@@santoshpant2836 its good
Most reviews I have read on UA-cam say that the Oneplus 12 is the worst at night photography. But you images clearly show that it is the best. The Oneplus 12 effort in the photo comparison of the pink sign is impressive. Sign is perfect and foreground and background are perfect. Much more detail than either of the others.
I’d encourage you to do a OP11 comparison with current updates.
You have a very good eye.
Can you please tell which software version the One plus 12 was having when taking these photos?
The latest
Im curious, do you still have the moving company?
Nah not anymore
Just looking for the best performing Android phone in terms of primarily the most flattering, natural looking and pleasing skin tone selfie camera, min. 90W wired charging, with no heating issues during charging and in general, with a minimalistic yet customizable OS. Looking into the 14 Ultra, OP 12, X100 Pro, Oppo Find 7X Ultra and some of the Sony phones. Can't decide! Which one has the absolutely most pleasing looking selfie camera performance between these, with the other criterias in place?
Hello what better s23u vs op12??
Better at what
@@CEONTHEMAKING overall
It's quite simple and obvious.
because when you spend so much money, you want it to be good until some other competeter does it better for much less money then you auto get into angry mode
and you start sucking that D jsut to justify your choice
human psychology is interestinng isn't it
low key anger + disapointment
I am probably going to get this phone sometime this summer now that I have done a bunch of research over the last month. Because it has received so many positive reviews since its release, I have literally been waiting to see videos with the exact title "I Was Wrong About The Oneplus 12..." pop up, just so i could see the good and bad of the phone. In a huge surprise to me, the first such video I have seen is actually giving more praise and credit to this phone 😆
Great video. Alot of reviewers was down playing the oneplus cameras. But they are great. Im tempted to try one plus out over samsung.
I need honest opinion. Is one plus quality as good as samsung, apple… also in terms of customer service, regular software updates?
No, it isn't.
3:31 Not to take away how great the photos are, Oneplus' image also has a slight reflection of the sign "country road" just around the lower front wheels albeit being very faint. Just pointing it out.
oh you´re right, didnt even notice until you pointed it out! its probably more noticeable with movies.
I recommend u op 12
OnePlus 12, without a doubt. Honor has that disgusting "dynamic island", making it look like a cheap iPhone copy.
Wow. I give you a lot of credit for going back and giving the OnePlus 12 more credit. Kudos to you brother 👍🏾 👍🏾.
You gave me my hope back 🎉 But what about the front camera still not very good? 😅
One thing pushing me away from OnePlus12 is the opticla sensor instead of ultrasonic.
Xiaomi processing looks like joke compared to OnePlus or Realme now 😆
I bought the One Plus 12 white colour , 512 GB from Trading Shenzhen site for £250 cheaper than in the UK.
Hi, I'm tempted to buy from Shenzhen too, does it Work well even its a china version? I mean the cemeras, network... Thanks
Was it a flashed rom I heard they open the box and flash some software before they ship
You also compared 120 fps on one phone with 240 fps on another. I'm still wondering why
What that gotta do with this video lol...the oneplus has either 240 or 480 fps in 1080p
What about xioami 14?
The mind boggling thing here is not that oneplus isnt as the top performer in some ascpects, its the fact that its being compared to phones way above its category
OnePlus 12 #1 love my phone
The lighter background generally is noise... The OnePlus 12 is oversharpened and overbrightened in those pictures. It is the night, after all.
Subbed for your fairness and objectiveness. 👍❤
Thanks for the great video. Didnt expect this. For the price the OP12 is super.
I've had the complete opposite experience with the one plus 12 to others, mainly the tech reviewers.
The battery sucked.
Cameras were about a 6/10
Night shots were horrible
It would be nice if someone could take photos on the 12 with its launch software and take the identical photos again with the latest updates installed. If the software improvements have caused the phone to beat other flagships (running their latest software) this should be publicised.
It’s true ,I always used my one plus took photo at night time /Christmas light /city night time …only ues iPhone when day time 😅
Excellent honest camera review of the OnePlus 12. Your review helped me decide that I will definitely upgrade from my OP 9pro (great overall phone for me the past 3 years) to the 12 soon. Also, the battery life is second to none.
Oneplus have bigger battery now and extra battery health technology 1600 cycles before 80% capacity
I have the S24 Ultra and my Brother the OP12 and yes. For less price it gives excellent results to fight the S24 Ultra.
Sometimes i think i should have picked the OP12 😅.
I can agree with these samples but I just don’t like curved screens.
Oh wow, did not see that coming from OnePlus 12.
I have a OnePlus 12 and iPhone 15 Pro (not max). I often prefer the photos on the OnePlus, quite frankly
Now the One Plus is even with the camera updates it got couple weeks ago.
Thank you for another great one! 👍
