Idk if you'll see this Cam because it is a while after the video was posted, but I must say I think this was the best erg I've ever seen you have. I'm gonna write a lot here but if you've got a little time I think it's worth the read. I've watched I *believe* all of your videos, and that's not an exaggeration. I think in this you're honestly the best shape I've ever seen you in. Body fat wise on your legs, ease of flexibility with the hips and tops of the thighs at the catch, your breathing, the efficiency of your sweating, the smoothness of the pickup, even with the little arm grab it's more of a slow squeeze than a grab and especially around the front and back end the rhythm and distribution of power of the arms is perfect. Your leg finishing position on the drive is super even, which is different from your erging when you did sweep, it wasn't exactly the same. Everything points to improvement and efficiency. Last thing I wanted to mention is that you've really cultivated a feeling for working around (or with) the rhythm of the erg. It shows throughout the whole piece but it shows especially well around the final sprinting stages. Your sprint would typically be a throw of power and trying to find splits in the faster recovery time and especially pull of the arms, but in this sprint you really squeezed the back and arms, keeping them straight and collapsing them for extra power just a beat behind when you usually would, and the connection and final power that is distributed to the flywheel is easy to see. You stay in the same flywheel rhythm that you cultivated over the span of the piece and it works, it works beautifully. You Sprint with the flywheel and not against it. I wanted to accentuate all these great things so you're aware of them if you weren't already and to say keep up the amazing work, whether it's a combination of diet, more time in the single, stretching, lower rate stuff when you erg, coaches, whatever it is keep doing it cause you look like you're at the top of your game. Massive fan and if you've read this far I really appreciate it I hope you enjoyed my analysis. The duel camera set up to see your tech from the back and side angle is amazing as well by far my favorite cinematography of erging I've ever seen on yours or anyone else's channel. 👍👍 Big love from UW
Only been a day Mason! I really appreciate you taking the time to write that out. Feeling different about training and performance this year. In a goidc way. The changes you mention still have a way to go to be where I want them to be so very excited to see where we get this year!!
@@CameronBuchan This season really seems to be shaping up into a good one for you, even better than previous years, I look forward to seeing how you do 👍
Wow what an insane time. I just started rowing 2 months ago after a pretty long period of inactivity and my last 5k was a 2:03 avg split and you just looked like you were cruising during that last sprint. I just raced at head of the hooch in Tennessee in a novice 8 and even with a river current and a shortened course to 4500 meters I think you still beat our time by like 10 seconds. Absolute beast you’re my new dream physique.
@@katz_ it was my first regatta and what an experience. In a true novice boat we beat every others schools b boat except two in the men’s novice collegiate 8 category and a few teams a boats like uga.
Combining your single sculling training with erg performances like this you are only going to be getting faster!!! Keep up the Yam and you'll be flying in the single next season. Thanks as always for sharing your journey #yamsquad
Inspiring performance and amazing rowing. We bought a water rower during lockdown and are just beginners. Great to see how it's done by someone with your dedication. Sadly I'm too old to get anywhere near your level. Still going though and that's the main thing 🙂👍
@@DC-is5rc Im not a rower but there are a couple of olympic level rowers that train at my gym and they make it look so easy. one had done what looked like 2 X5K with a 2min break but all relaxed they werent pushing it, probably zone 2 or 3 for them, I checked their times later and it would be a dream 2K time for me iby next summer
Just checked out your 2k and 5k. Good work! You can check out my 2ks on here too. Not going to give you any advice you didn't ask for so keep up good work if you're trying to improve your scores!
What resistance level are you working with here? I usually put mine at level 3 and can complete 5k in less than 15m averaging about 1:25 or so. Impressive workout you did there btw!
Hello! I use around a 125-130 if you head to drag factor on the settings menu although resistance won't really effect your overall time. I've made a few videos talking about it!
@@CameronBuchan Thanks. Sticking to 30 min and 5k rows for time being. Target is to get 8k for my 30 min row (which im not far off) so this will improve my base 5k also.
Crazy starting point Cam, I usually erg without shoes now because I feel better connection to the footplate. What shoes do you wear and do you have any recommendations for erg footwear?
I actually can't remember specifically what I had it on. It would have been around 130. I've made a few videos talking about resistance that you should check out!
I love how your support team/coaches gently took a step back after you finish to give you space to breath.
We love the dual camera setup AND split’s screen recording
Came out quite nice!

I was also at the Hooch, 2:03 is pretty impressive for a new rower, congrats
Production great with these, love how the two fellas behind just walk off once you finish XD
Their used to seeing me post erg 😂
Unreal athleticism my guy

62 in March, and unfortunately, my dream of returning to a sub-20 from twenty years ago has died an exhaustive death. (Not a pretty one, either. LOL)

my thoughts after doing a 5K Yesterday, how do you make time slow down. Yes

To get your 5k down, it's all about your cardiovascular endurance. Improve that, improve your 5k
@@DC-is5rc Not necessarily, it's quite complex.... And the amount of work you need to put in to get that far still stays enormous :-).....
🤯 I’m more than happy with that avg for a 2k. Solid work
Thanks Lee!
I'd be happy with that avg on a 1km lolz beast mode
my 500m is 1:39 so I would even be happy with it for 500 m
Well done Cameron, onwards and upwards!
Well done, Cam. Bloody impressive, as always 👏
Much appreciated
Great finish. It will be interesting to see the next one.
Agreed! Already excited for it
Great work! You did very well to wind up the last bit
Thank you. Playing to my strengths!
@@CameronBuchan Impressive finish at 1:20!!!!
Great job, I think rating low in the beginning would have killed me about 3k in :-D
And that’s your idea of not really pushing it! Cam, your 5K splits absolutely hammer my 2K 🥺
Currently doing 30min rows at a 205 pace and I thought I was doing good……dude is a monster
Keep up the good work 💪
prd on my 5k today, had to watch this to deflate my ego
1.18 Nice.
Yeeeeaaah Buddy!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy shit man! I would have died from that :P
Good job!
Keep it up!

we are doing 6K test in Slovakia
Nice piece! Was that a Carl Douglas shell among the Empachers that I saw in the background?

Yeah Cam 💪🏻
Messed up my back yesterday and have a 6k test on Monday :(
I how you feel better soon!
Gee, my PB is 18:40.....Nice row! 👌
Mine is 20:56 but that was rate 26 I've never done a free rate 5k
holy cow that's fast, great job! I was just looking at the 100k leaderboard and have doubts about the top two on there, what do you think?
