If you're looking for a different thread company, I'd suggest Marathon Threads in Winnipeg. They have their own thread line in both rayon and polyester. They also sell sell "starter" packs of smaller spools. We used a lot of their stabilizers (emb backing) and threads when I worked in an emb house. They're little company, but much nicer to deal with than CanSew. If you're looking for a good stitch ripper, they sell the Wahl shaver. Just gently buzz the bobbin thread off from the back. Easy peasy.
The leaves and the flowers for the strawberry art look SO GOOD. I love the extra colors in the flowers; it makes them stand out more than just a standard white and gives them so much more depth.
I would call your rep with the embroidery machine and see if they have a contact with Meidera. They might have a sales person they know (if they work together) that you or they can reach out to. That kind of service is *not* ok.

But it's sadly only a temporary solution 😅 used that trick on an old nail polish and while I was able to use it a few more times the acetone made the colour funky and in the end also the texture unusable. Makes sense since acetone literally dissolves it but it's better to get a few more uses out of it than none
Rust o leum has spray on sealer that can be used on stuff both inside and out… I prefer that over brush on varnish just because I don’t need to dirty up a brush to use it… EDIT : I can’t wait to see the finished strawberry stuff 🍓 it’ll be a perfect accent for the book of my original character, Strawberrie the dragon (looks similar to Red from Spyro : A Hero’s Tail, but far less mean / angry her horns and crest look like a strawberry’s top she’s got some scales that are a similar yellow to another dragon in Hero’s Tail, Dragon Elder Titan, and she’s (Strawberrie) is very feminine and dainty (unlike Red)

Question! Have u looked into the DMC range of threads/cones? The mouline should work on the Melco? Plus diamond art club uses the DMC colour chart for the diamond colours for if /when u decide to use some of the art u used with them on ur embroidery.

If they don’t, would it be feasible or more cost effective to have it shipped to your sister and have her ship it? I know it shouldn’t happen that way, but state-side she shouldn’t get the dumb fee’s they’ve given you. If you ever have to pay customs on an overvalued shipment there is a customs form you can fill out with the real value and they will refund whatever you overpaid.
I imagine thick outlines are easier to set up bc larger margin of error. Maybe when you make your designs, slightly thicker outlines would be helpful. ymmv :)

Test the rayon thread for colorfastness. Rayon colors have a tendency to run and ruin things.

If possible you could create a strawberry sleeve as an embroidery cover for a sketchbook
If you have thick nail polish add a few drops of rubbing alcohol and it will thin it out enough to be able to apply better.
It was quite thin. It just dried really fast.
