- A comparison of 75cm masts from Code Foils, Project Cedrus and No Limitz for a flatwater paddle up test. Ability to get up and going and speed and glide once up were all taken into account for my breakdown of each mast.
This is part 1 of a 3 part test, excited to get the gear out winging and downwind to give my final verdict.

This is great that you’re doing a fair honest test, including your product.
Thank you!
Awesome James !
Hi James, I compared (without flat water paddle ups) a 75cm NL V2 mast to the old non monobloc 75cm F-One carbon 14mm (40% HM) and came to the same conclusion. The NL is stiffer and better with more control in the waves, the F-One had much better glide in downwinders and was overall significantly faster. Fortunately in about a month F-One will release a new monobloc 75cm carbon mast (95% HM and same exact section of the old one) which will be stiffer and should offer the best of both worlds. Cheers, great video!
Thanks for sharing and excited to see the next generation of masts!
That was actually really interesting to watch. I would have said that I wouldnt be able to see the difference, but it was noticeable. The Cedrus mast seemed to glide for ages.
Great review!!! Pretty objective!!!! Thanks James!!!
Glad you liked it!
So good 🤙🤙
would there be much difference between a 75cm and a, say, 82cm mast?
How bout that wing specific cedrus could be a good sup option ?
Hey James, what adapters are you using and how do you find the connection compared to the code mast? I’ve got a no limitz mast with the takuma M6 mast connection.
Good info. Thanks. Side note
Have you tested different surface finishes?
I have not but that’d be very interesting
When you said you could go down a size on the nl, does that mean its more efficient at low end? But doesnt glide as well meaning more drag at mid and high speed range?
It’s as simple as it’s lighter, like a lighter rider can use a smaller foil 🤷🏽♂️
Why in theory would there be less glide on the nl?
longer chord
It's thicker. 16mm all along.
@@tom-foil actually Cedrus is technically thicker on average due to the top and bottom of the mast. But it has better glide due to shorter chord length and less wetted area. Hopefully we can start to put the thickness argument to bed. Thin masts with long chord length have more drag than thick masts.
Longer chord, less taper and maybe a slower section 🤷🏽♂️ unsure of the section though, hard to measure
@@kylelobisser1962Is the thickness to chord ratio a better characterization of the section drag? Thanks
