Thanks for watching everyone! For those who won the giveaway, shoot me an email. Also, if you build this layout, tag me on twitter and I’ll retweet it!
I'm a cabinetmaker and the woodworking in this gave me... chills, gotta be honest. But hey - if it suits your needs, who cares about whether somebody else would do it in a different way. Crafting, be it in your spare time, as a hobby or as a job, is all about the process and the result and this seems to be satisfying all the needs it has to. Aside from that, would love to see more of this and will subscribe!
Yes, same. Most people wouldn't even attempt this which I applaud, and he honestly did a lot better on his own that a lot of people I know trying to start out.
This is the first time I'm seeing an adult collector of wooden Thomas toys, very interesting to see how complex this layout is and what an expansive collection of elements you've accumulated to make it work. Really cool to see people enjoying their stuff and trying new things!
I’m not sure why UA-cam recommended this video but I’m eternally glad that it did, the rekindling of nostalgia and effort put into this video is absolutely nothing short of incredible. Childhood me wishes he could’ve made something even remotely close to this so seeing it come together was just (chefs kiss). Excellent job good sir take my like
Maaaan, seeing this snatched me all the way back to 1999 as a kid in the Bay Area. There was a mall that had a dedicated Thomas the Tank Engine store and one of my earliest memories ever was standing in front of this EXACT layout. I didn't even get to play with it since there were so many other kids using the locomotives. I just watched in pure wonder. From that point on I was doomed to become a vehicle enthusiast. So I wanna say thanks ThomasCollectibles for bringing these precious memories back!
I have tons of these items in my attic right now as I was huge into Thomas when I was younger. Fun story: I remember when I was younger learning about lead paint and the recalls that the first edition Thomas trains had as they used lead paints. Several years later, I found my old Thomas stuff and noticed my first Thomas train was flaking paint bad. Then lots of things started to make sense to me lol. Probably ate some of those chips.
This is incredible! I remember deeing this layout advertised a LOT when I was younger. My parents back at the time were really cool, and got me a lot of even then, older sets. I always wanted to build this set, and you did it. My younger self would love this, great video man :)
Bro this shit was my childhood. I didn't have the '98 yearbook (the first one I remember having was the Tomy and Wooden 60th Anniversary edition), but I always wanted to have this amazing layout as a kid. I'm glad I got to see it all with this video. Thank you and keep up the good work 👍
Watching him trying to build that table absolutely made my day. I guess woodworking, small-scale construction, etc. isn't as common of a skill as I thought.
Also just saying, glad he figured out that he needed more than 1 screw. You won't believe how many people don't think to have at least 2 nails/screws when building things. I do robotics so to keep pieces from rotating it's pretty important.
I had the lego building sound in my head everytime you showed a clip of building the layout. Also I used to have the Roundhouse set, complete with a giant wooden bin shaped like Thomas. Much nostalgia.
I was more of an ERTL guy growing up - my parents always said the wooden stuff was too expensive. But I remember going through that yearbook that we found somewhere and seeing that layout, as well as some of the random characters that received the wooden railway treatment that weren't in the TV series. A year or so later I found the Complete Collection book and most of the one-off characters made sense. Talk about a nostalgia blast! Great stuff!
Man, as a kid I always wanted one of those layouts you would see in the the catalogs. I remember one where it when from the floor to the table, I always wanted that one, well it was a dream that never happened. Love the video!
Was Thomas the Train an integral part of my childhood? NO Are model trains a hobby that I enjoy or even have passive knowledge about? NO Can I watch 3 hours of this guy assamblying thomas the train railroads? ABSO freaking LUTLEY
This really brings me back to when I was younger because I remember playing with wooden railway a lot. I remember my preschool that I went to had a small layout. Sometimes I would bring wooden railway engines I had at home to my preschool to play with them on the layout.
nice! I remember when I was a kid, I had my inner degeneracy inside of me since I was a kid and only played with the trains other kids would play and avoid playing with the trains I had!
I had that catalogue as a kid and would just page through it, wishing I had everything in there. I never had the wooden railway as a kid, but I had (still have) a big collection of ERTL which got me by. But man, this was fun to watch.
6:08 I knew of such thing as a kid as it came with the adapter packs as I didn't have any M-M adapters and only two F-F ones circa 2008. They were not available like the other straight tracks I really like the custom table, but part of me felt pain when you called wood screws "nails"
As a good ole country boy who's framed a good handful of barns, the woodwork was painful to watch XD Massively impressed you went through it with it though! So many would give up today.
The memories of playing with the Barrnes and Noble Thomas trains are coming back as I watch this video. Always a good day when you upload Keep up the great work
6:16 fun fact, the flexi curves are about the length of a 3 1/2 inch straight. there great to use if necessary. they honestly work better as straights than curves. still this is awesome, would love to see you build more layouts, perhaps one based on a different yearbook.
I remeber being subbed to u when u only had 800 subs and thinking that u were really underrated and I’m glad this channel is getting more attention now :)
Watching your video brings back such good memories of my wooden railway I had, I think I still have my old trains, tacks and even some other stuff in the attic of mine.
Man if anything you make want to go get my table stored in my garage and my wooden railway engines and make a layout. Honestly making layouts are fun especially when you get a really creative thought process going. Loved this one, hope to see more again in the future!

Hey man, the videos are wayyyyy more in your own style now and it’s awesome ! Not only are these fun to watch but the content is unique to this channel. Keep up the great work
Bro was shocked that wood working makes a mess lol. It’s usually meant to be done out doors or in a workshop or something, not on the carpeted bedroom floor of this guys house
I had a majority of this stuff growing up but we left it with my grandfather who then sold it all right before he died and it sucks because I'll never get to pass on a part of my childhood to potential descendants.
I love how this guy sits here like a god with mint condition wooden railway engines while were looking on eBay and just finding over priced choo choo train toys with faces. Nice video though, I've been trying to collect rare Thomas stuff as well and seeing this just amazes me
Howon! I loved this! Thanks for doing this build!!!! Great story!!!! Those 3.5” curves are dangerous to the battery trains. Love this and so funny too!

In all seriousness, great video :D Really brought me back to my childhood.
Don’t forget “I screwed in some nails”

Mad respect for the table effort! Life truly feels complete once you've successfully recreated a classic layout

It’s always satisfying, watching trains go around your layout that you worked so hard on :)
yes! I agree!
I had the lego building sound in my head everytime you showed a clip of building the layout.

my inner toddler is jumping with joy at the magnificent sight of this elaborate railway.
oh my god I had wooden thomas sets as a child this is a very hidden memory unlocked
3:18 a cool looking table = a cool looking layout!

“Screw more Nails” Well, at least he didn’t say, “Nail some Screws”
“Ill hammer another in the middle” [not a hammer in sight]
6:08 I knew of such thing as a kid as it came with the adapter packs as I didn't have any M-M adapters and only two F-F ones circa 2008. They were not available like the other straight tracks

This Man îs a legend of Thomas nostalgia
Damn the nostalgia hit hard like a train
Great build, but now I wanna see the Barnes and Noble layout. That's the most iconic one to me.
The memories of playing with the Barrnes and Noble Thomas trains are coming back as I watch this video.
Always a good day when you upload
Keep up the great work
thanks Henry! I really hope they release new ones this year!
Man seeing all those old playset parts brings me back
by far the rawest ending to a video ive ever seen and its a fucking thomas the tank engine building video
6:16 fun fact, the flexi curves are about the length of a 3 1/2 inch straight. there great to use if necessary. they honestly work better as straights than curves.
still this is awesome, would love to see you build more layouts, perhaps one based on a different yearbook.
flex track for any train system works better as a straight a than as a curve
@@towcat ikr. idk why they're issue as curves when they can't even do that right...
You need to get yourself the little wooden pegs for your sodor bay bridges. Saves you a few ATR's. Important piece!
ah absolutely! I didn't know they were a thing 😮

"Eating the frog" is a mark twain quote. Mom used it all the time. Great build.
Watching your video brings back such good memories of my wooden railway I had, I think I still have my old trains, tacks and even some other stuff in the attic of mine.
You gotta build every yearbook layout from 1992-2004
