Can’t tell if this byleth is the male or female version though I guess it doesn’t matter considering my first play through was the black eagle campaign.
@@jayewrite1256 so, given the context of them asking if it's alright to like a girl (very common when first discovering lesbian feelings) it's implied that this Byleth is the female version, but I can totally see why you would be confused since they don't have more mature features yet (they're supposed to be a younger version here) and they have the male version's hair for now
This is very fitting, because how a theme of CF is Byleth and Edelgard regaining their humanity together. Edelgard does not see Byleth as a demon or a goddess. And Byleth does not see Edelgard as just an emperor but a friend. Neither of them put the other at a pedastal like many others do.
Jeralt’s probably relieved that Byleth is able to “like” anyone.
Edelgard better be careful, though. Lancebreaker won’t be enough to save her from the Dad Talk.

Leonie mentions during one of the monastery conversations after the timeskip, and on Golden deer during one of the pre timeskip monastery conversations (and I think if Leonie is recruited, but that I'm not sure) Jeralt has one extra piece of dialogue where he tells you to look after Leonie should anything happen to him

@@TheDisquietingNight no. After the timeskip, Leonie tells Byleth that Jeralt told her to look after Byleth. Jeralt tells Byleth pre timeskip to look after Leonie

Meanwhile, Edelgard is sitting on one of the most gargantuan secrets the rest of Fodlan won't find out about until an entire fort disappears. I think it's safe to assume Byleth will be outclassed🤣!
Okay, BUUUUT, Edelgard has only known the throne, while Byleth has lived as a commoner this whole time.
Edelgard knows about some big conspiracy's, but only Byleth knows what the world's REALLY like.
Come on now, please. It just wouldn't be good advice for Jeralt's line here to mean dishing out secrets/worldly knowledge (El has plenty of both, thank you) for the sake of demonstrating Byleth's "smarts" in any sense of the word, framing it as a competition like that isn't exactly the strongest foundation for a relationship. What I think he means is, simply sharing one's perspective by talking about your experiences is important not because of what another person may or may not know about "the world"... But because the act itself should provide them a glimpse of _who you are_.

I’m rewatching this again and god it’s so good!! I wish there was a version of the game where Byleth was allowed to have a character and express more of themself. I would love to have a version where they would show a journey of learning how to feel more and more until the hair change when their emotions become fully unlocked. Three houses is an awesome game but, it could of been so much better with Byleth as an actual character instead of a stand in for the player.
I hope someone in the fe community can make a gba demake with it fleshed out so much more.
Byleth's personality is canonically "humble, patient listener".
@@wanderlustwarrior I know but, characters can have more depth than one troupe. They can keep that role while expanding and growing. That is a major part of their personality, not the whole. I hope that if there is their is a demake project that we can expand from a character that basically feels very little to a character that can show more emotion. The game tries to show this but, them being a silent protag leaves much to be desired.

I absolutely love this comic and this dub is perfect. Goofy dad supporting his gay daughter isn't the most common thing depicted but I always find it so heartwarming and these voices really bring it to life.
