  • SVS PB16-Ultra and SB3000 Subwoofer review. After hearing a SVS setup earlier this year at CES I asked them to send me out some products. This is a quick review of the SVS PB16-Ultra Ported Sub and SB3000 Sealed Sub. They also sent out a pair of SVS Wireless Elevation speakers which I will be reviewing in a separate video. These are some fantastic subwoofer and I think the PB16-Ultra is my new favorite sub. 😍😍😍 I will be uploading my review of the SVS Wireless Prime Elevation speakers very soon.

    I use the pb16 in my recording studio. Beast isn't the word. It's not just quantity of sound but the quality. The bass response isn't flat or boomy. Some of the neighbors have expensive car audio and they're embarrassed every time I turn this thing on. I actually cracked the drywall one day. You just got to hear it to believe it.

    The 16 is a beautiful monster but Id rather go dual pb-3000’s. I believe the drivers on the 3000 and 4000 series have been upgraded with a dual wound voice coil which make high excursion effortless. This is why many are opting to go with the 3000 because from a performance aspect they are very close.

    Yes , that is SVS , i did a upgrade from the r 115 to a svs pb 4000 , oh man, i can not lie . I miss sometimes the 115 for his looks, but thats it . The 4000 is a monster in a sweet box , they are made for Imax or better cinema levels , the klipsch subs are nice , and good for smaller rooms or living rooms , and yes . Svs subs are not cheap . But what you get back from them . Make you forget the price 👍 these subs are amazing !! Go dual on the 16 or 4000 and enjoy shaking walls and popcorn 🔊🍿😜👍⚡🌪

      Vader as you can see from this video the SVS PB 16 Ultra subwoofer is moving a lot more with low frequency sound the SVS PB 16 ultra subwoofer should move the same amount with all of the frequencies so this means the SVS PB 16 ultra subwoofer has very bad sound reproduction and this means all of the SVS subwoofers is not good at making 20 hertz this means the SVS has very bad sound reproduction

They are the best for music but hard to tune for home theater, most u2500-3000 I would get JBL SRX828SP 2000W Continuous Dual 18 inch Powered Subwoofer. But you are getting advice from a recovering bass head. Subs must be able to make breathing difficult and question structural integrity. :D

    I appreciate that you mentioned early recommending a 20amp circuit. Easy math and got to have enough juice to worth with!
    Not to say that you need 12 amps to run this sub at 120volts
    But anyone running a real system needs to have a dedicated 20amp to their room and another 20amp for the bass
    Aka 40 amps to the theater area and you will be pumping!

    I have two PB 2000 and after doing the subwoofer crawl for the best placement in my living one behind my theatre seat mid wall and the other to the other side of the room. Oh my goodness I can feel the bass all over my body my 12 year old daughter says the seat feels like it’s massaging her back, chest, etc. So can’t even imagine that monster of a sub, I am going to give it a try though.

    sb3000 vs 1 of the klipsch 15s? which one is more powerful for music with heavy bass (hip hop)

    • @ChrisMajestic

      The klipsch is louder. It's a 15 and its ported. The pb3000 would be more comparable

    I have just bought a svs sb4000 and i absolutely love it but it is quite big compared to my previous sb2000, im thinking that i should have gone for the sb3000?
    Would i be losing a lot of power and power out put if i went down to the sb3000?

      A lot of reviewers out there are saying the 3000 series outperforms the 4000 series. Even though they're cheaper and smaller, it makes sense, considering 3000 is the next evolution in SVS's engineering. Different driver tech from the rest of their lines.

    What are people’s thoughts on the SB-3000 vs PB-3000? I def light the smaller footprint of the SB but in a 16x25 ft room, do you think the SB will sound sufficient compared to PB? Also, for listening to music, how good are foam port seals for replicating sealed sub when playing music?

    • @cjt74
      @cjt74 3 роки тому +2

      I just upgraded from three PB1000’s to dual pb3000’s. First off if you can’t go dual 3000’s split your budget and go with dual 2000 pros. Dual subs will always be better than a single and yes dual 2000 pros will out perform a Single 3000 hands down. With that being said, I just finished dialing both subs in with my mini dsp this morning and OMG!!! The 3000 lives up to the hype. Aside from increase headroom I’d say Impact or tactile response is the biggest difference that would highlight first. Yes they are louder than my 1000’s but SPL isn’t my goal, balanced response for every seat is. The increased potency in LFE is incredible. FYI my room is 13 x 23 and trust me, you need dual subs in your room. Once you experience duals in your room you’ll be kicking yourself for not making the move sooner. I haven’t used the port plugs but I’ve found from other reviews that Pb in sealed mode is still great. Good luck on whichever direction you choose to go.

    Please am from Nigeria how can can I buy the pb16 ultra, I really want to have it,

  • @cmdoggy24
    @cmdoggy24 5 років тому +1

    Regarding the PB16 Ultra...you can’t compare the wattage rating to what its actually pulling off a 15 or 20 amp circuit. Subwoofer101 runs dual PB16 ultras off one circuit with no issues whatsoever. The transformer inside and the way subwoofer wattage is calculated doesn’t translate over like you think it does.

    • @ChrisMajestic
      @ChrisMajestic  5 років тому +1

      I'm speaking from experience. A 15A circuit gave me a bunch of trouble until I switched over to 20A.

    • @cmdoggy24
      @cmdoggy24 5 років тому +1

      Must be something unique to your circuit. A quick google search shows lots of people on forums running it on a 15 with no problems. Subwoofer101’s circuit is 15 amps, running two of these subs, and “50 years old and has never tripped a breaker.” My uncle builds speakers as a hobby and told me the real world draw on these subs is a fraction of the power draw stated on the specs.

    • @ChrisMajestic
      @ChrisMajestic  5 років тому +2

      I've run into this issue at other installations as well. The only thing I can imagine is that they aren't pushing the subs as hard. I've definitely pushed them to their limits. The other variable is the breaker itself as some are more sensitive than others. With a 60 year old house the breakers were much less sensitive than modern breakers. The recommendation is 20A. That doesnt mean you cant use a 15A, it just means that 20A is recommended. 15A can handle 1800w quite easily.

    • @rushgush
      @rushgush 5 років тому

      Majestechs svs uses subs that have low sensitivity, so they can pull a lot of amps. i use to have an sb 13 ultra and it would dim my light if pushed hard. the new 3000 series is suppose to be higher sensitivity, so should pull less amps. i have a very high sensitivity 18 inch sub from funk audio, it has 2400 watts, 4800 watt peak power. but only pulls like 2-3 amps.
