  • For those who missed the awards here is the moment Cpl Rushe from Coleraine recevied his award. I'm certain he is now pleased both to be recognised as a true HERO and also that his Royal Irish Pals are now home. Enjoy.

Congratulations Cpl Rushe, you not only helped the little Girl in Afghanistan BUT you have inspired a hell of a lot of children and in my experience there is no greater reward or appreciation, apart from seeing your own Children Born, than that of a Child! and her Father.
My Squadron Motto was "Non Solum Nobis" roughly translated as "Not by/for Ourselves Alone"

You salute the Medal. Everyone from General Chief of staff, Field Marshal down to Privates must salute a holder of the VC

After cuddling his mum and fiancée, and before taking his award, he should have walked over to Beharry and saluted him.

Christopher Kealy close. On arriving at the stage, should of marched and halted. Then saluted corporal Beharry. VC! Then carryon.

WRONG - every one from General down has to salute Beharry, because Beharry wears the Victoria Cross. Both Beharry and Rushe were in unifrom, Beharry in dress uniform with medals, so Rushe could have and should have saluted him.

Wrong. It is only a tradition. It is not a regulation.
