For position 7, I was torn between between the two choices, but eventually settled on the same one as you. My main two reasons were to block the placement of P1 and also to take advantage of the brick port. I think the value of the double 6 brick combined with the brick port is very high in this situation, especially as the production on that position is higher. However, part of my brain was telling me that I was just overthinking it and to go with the obvious choice to have a bit of every resource with different numbers... And they did win the world championship, so who can really argue with them?
Yeah, exactly haha! Both options seem fine, and placements aren't the only important decisions to take through a game. I feel like [the winner] made good mid-game decisions, like taking the Longest Road.
I would also pick your 6-3-11 option, but maybe even build the road down. 3-10-11 should not be taken as red needs the 6-3 desperately, so that could be the first expansion spot. Afterwards go for the 9-12. Thats the perfect setup for a strong longest road game with good citying potential. Even the 4-5-11 could be open as 5th settlement spot
Great video, keep em comming. Interesting about coastal-outs, I think they are much less irrelevant with Outside-Desert, but this map was exception, 6-3 was way to good.
The ones I heavily prepared I will turn into videos later. Some of the classes don't require preparation which I may have recorded and I might turn them into videos as well. Other are lost in time to make it sound dramatic haha
For last position, the 8 wood 4 3 spot is superior to the 8 wheat 4 3 spot. It pairs better with the 5 9 10. You keep that side of the board to yourself making longest road easier.
Hey Nadim, that's awesome! I use Movavi to edit I use Canva to create slides I use Streamlabs OBS to record I use a Logitech webcam and a microphone of which I forgot the name (Quadcast comes to mind)
I put P3 as my favourite to win from the setups. Highest or joint-highest in each of ore, wheat and sheep, so favourite for largest army, and potential access to the wood point, giving potential "resource of your choice" when an 8 rolls.
If I was purple I would have put 7 at the 11-3-6 because i would get a free road to 10 3 11 anyways and could have built the next settlement there edit: you agreed and said it too haha - different reasoning though
ah right. I was thinking: put the road towards the brick-port, because you risk Red placing his last settlement on the 9/12. The 6/3 would be better, but the 9/12 might be interesting because of the 3:1 port
No chance for red to win this with 9-12, thats just too weak with this competition. I don’t think that this Option really needs to be considered when playing with top players
I can relate. Sometimes. I've had phases where the Base Game bores me out, but I'm currently in the phase where I'm obsesses with perfectioning my game. So, then playing makes me really excited
@@Treeckosaurus The game is indeed addictive, but me and my friends can't go back from cities and knights and the bigger boards, when I play catan online and get thrown into a classic game, I almost never enjoyed it 😅 even when I know all the strats. Just continue with your journey 🙏
Agree 100%, I think mono is too OverPowered in Base. Probably everyone relates to this feeling of “this will be a win”, when you draw it from the deck. Base also runs way much more around the Dice, while CaK is more of Turn-decision-based game. But anyway Base will always be the “gold standart” of Catan so it makes sense to push it beyond it’s limits ;)
Well, if you want to pretend a game of 1.5 hours is decided within the first ten minutes and the rest of the game is just a procedure everyone has to follow, be my guest... :)
Yeah, I simply replied because I didn't want to see the pop-up of this message in UA-cam Studio. I see it as quite a negative comment without constructive feedback. If you have feedback for how I can improve my content I'm all ears.

There's an argument for pointing left indeed. I would point up to brick-port, because you risk 8th position taking the 9/12 instead of the 6/3
Those were some tough starting placements, good to see another video!
Yeah, for sure!

Great video! Maybe I'm colorblind, but maybe you can increase the color difference between 'pink' and 'purple' a little bit next time. 🙃
Thanks! Will do. I went with the colors the players used in the original game.
Great video, keep em comming.

Thank you! Great video. Do you have those trainings you did on lighthall recorded? Just watched this video
Hey Jared! Thanks :) My latest two are still on my profile page: www.lighthall.co/profile/Treeckosaurus

Nice analysis Treeck, congrats on the lighthall class launch!
Thanks!

Yeah, I agree with you. I most likely would not have gone with the set-up 4th position went with. It's a little 'too much of everything'
As you mentioned in the video, thats kind of a defensive placement. Pink or purple just get too strong with the 8-4-3
Yeah, and I simply dislike the 5-resource set-up as it doesn't fit my play-style
Great Video Treeck. Quite helpful!
Hey Sushant! Glad you like it :)
@@Treeckosaurus i implemented this strategy in couple of games and won both. Thanks
Great job!
Goede video! Echt jammer dat je niet meer subs hebt
Dankje!
I totally agreed with you on Purple should have placed on 6-3-11 but they won anyways lol
4:43 3/6/11 to give myself space to make a road and port play with some trades for wheat.🌾
Well he won with his placement. Shows what I know. :D
Great video mate 👍 keep ‘em coming!
Thanks!!
Hey treeckosaurus! Just subscribed to the channel
. I was Wondering which tools u use to make the catan videos, i want to make catan videos as well :)

Ty so much!
Good video. Unfortunately, nothing found on the lighthall link, when searching for Catan?
Thanks! The Lighthall classes have ended unfortunately. I will update the description and comments, thanks for letting me know
Definitely did not expect purple winning after that start. Would have thought they were completely boned.
Purple was able to win the race to the wood-port, as well as getting the 8/10, so that's why the flexibility was still there.
I’d say fourth place has the best setup. Others have had to sacrifice high production for getting their resources and/or to outmaneuver one another.
Certainly a good set-up. Especially because they can get Longest Road
I put P3 as my favourite to win from the setups. Highest or joint-highest in each of ore, wheat and sheep, so favourite for largest army, and potential access to the wood point, giving potential "resource of your choice" when an 8 rolls.
Good video, dont use purple and pink like that though hard to tell them apart.
Thanks for the feedback and glad you like it!

these are obvious basic of placement decision, and you run through one example, but what's the generalized rules?
Well that is exactly what the title says it is. For more generalized rules I recommend my video highlighting the 6 most popular strategies.
Ah why didn’t you show the final game board results
No idea, quite a while ago
I can't get warm with catan without seafarers and cities and knights. The normal catan game is far too dull, unrandomized and is unbalanced sadly.
I can relate. Sometimes.

good stuff, maybe we can play together soon for CONTENT
I have no time, because I have the lighthall project coming up, but I appreciate the offer
catan world champtionships? classes?
you're blowing my mind here. lol
What did you expect when you clicked this video? There's much more advanced stuff, but I don't write "simple" in the title for no reason.
Talking all about how purple got cut off, but they won. That's why they're the world champion and you're not, lol.
