I just purchased this unit in the UK however it is not a receiver, it is a surround sound amplifier, it does not have the am/fm or anything, it is a amplifier only, i have to say it is fantastic, i upgraded from a yamaha RXa 1050 and the difference is chalk and cheese, thanks for the review it helped a lot in deciding .
Used the eARC chapter to setup my older SR5009 to use with my new LG C3. The UI is a little different, but similar enough. This saved me from having to buy a new receiver - thanks!
Marantz finally replaced the receiver with a refurbished one about a month and half ago. No problems since then and it works the way it should. I had a defective one and it just took too long for them to recognize that and replace it. Sound quality is good, Atmos good. I don't use the video inputs except for 1 but I do use the EARC which is great.
My dad had a Marantz Audio Receiver and Marantz Imperial floor speakers circa 1985. I also remember me and my 2 brothers would mess with the eq settings and input switcher because it looked like something out of a space ship and it would piss my dad off.
I am surprised no one ever comments on a really good DVD on a top projector set perfect up, actually looks a lot better than cheap to normal priced projectors doing 4k. (especially if you throw it up on a really good canvas and you calibrate the thing and have a really good dark room) I don't know if this is a cheap one, but I demoed a middle class JVC projector 8 years ago just around when 4k was new, and watching a Sting concert on DVD just looked so much more real than 4k did on any TV screen or even projector at the time. 8 Years later, yeah things have improved a hell of a lot. But still, normal 4k and 8k on cheap TV screens in the store mostly only deal with solving the structural problems on the screens. They do no look very natural, especially looking at nature scenes. Yeah the blacklevels are more better and there is much less stuttering, and now you can get screens that light a lot more up. I think that is just something that most people are blind to, because they use the Samsung/panasonic/LG demoes which are made to impress you and they run modern games and best seller films either on bulray or 4k. But actually one of the best ways of testing a screen or projector is to play a DVD, because they have more natural and unmanipulated content that does not distract, and when you do that you suddenly notice that most things that are really cheap on the market can't make DVD look good, it actually looks really trashy, so you as a user are forced to watch ultra high resolution content that costs a lot more. Netflix is a great example of that, try running a Friends episode from that on a cheap modern projector or TV, it just looks horrible. But if you get the DVD which is a slightly higher resolution which is not compressed, and run it on a good DVD player on a really good TV that is also calibrated, then suddenly an old antique DVD looks really really good. Just a thing I noticed. It's usually the 500-2000 dollar TV's and projectors that many times just can't make low resolution look good, and yeah having a bigger screen almost makes it even more worse.
Yeah, it's definitely tough to chose between projector and TV. If I had the space I would try to get a projector in here. And yes, DVDs of older content looks way better. My wife ran through the Gilmore Girls on Hulu and it was awful!

Hi, although it's a 2 year old video, I saw it Today, you skipped one of the main setup functions that is the Speaker ohms setting. . Default is 8 Ohm's on Amplifier, but when you have 4 - 6 Ohm's speaker you need to set the Amplifier on specific Ohm's settings. Else you may damage the Amp and blame the company for poor quality. None of video on UA-cam showed this setting and many people are unaware of this. Please add that in your next Video.
I just orders my Marantz SR7015 today, together with new Dali Opticon 6 central speakers and a Dali 12F subwoofer. Delivery first week of December. Hoping for good tips for best conections to TV, PS5 et cetera. Keep up the good work!
I recently got the Marantz SR8015. When using the 11.1 amp mode with 4 height speakers, I chose the pre-out option to use an external EMOTIVA XPA-3 Gen 3 to drive my front stage. Does the Marantz power off the front L & R amplifiers since I chose the pre-out setting? Thanks for the great video.
Now that I think I have things hooked up correctly, HDMI, and speaker wise (9.2) Klipsch. I will now have to get into (crossovers), (Preset 1 and 2) and getting my 4K 120 75" LG to do the 8K. Info only reads 4.2.2 not 4.4.4. I am using the 8k HDMI cables by the company you mention, but no luck yet , still learning the SR7015 and there is a lot to learn. Thanks for your review.
Hello NEO! Thanks for watching. Yes, there are a lot of things that can be dialed in. I usually run Audyssey and then go in and change crossovers as I know what my speakers can handle and I also have power amplifiers in my setup. So if I lower the crossovers, I know that my amps will pump out more power, especially if I lower the crossovers for my front stage. As far as the 4:4:4, That could be your source device. Make sure that is sending out 4:4:4.
Only one 8K HDMI input, makes it useless for those who are interested in 8K and HDMI 2.1. I'll wait for next year models before upgrading my Denon X6400H...

Actually be it Marantz or Denon they require 8 inches of space on top, left & right space of the shelf too to keep it from getting hot. Just my 2 cents worth. By the way my wife enjoy our Marantz SR5600 with JBL Satellite speakers 7.1 & Marantz SR8500 2.0 Wharfedale tower speakers love it! My tv is the old Sony HX800 40 inch. 😍❤ Thanks & God bless you!

How does this compare to the Denon 6700? Denon has more channels and power, but what is the difference in sound? Can't decide on which would be better to connect to a UST laser projector.
Channa eARC you have to turn off the tv amp sepreratly im using a sony kd 55AG9 EU connected to my marantz sr 7013 the tv switches off both Everything else is connected to my TV e.g. Blu-ray player oppo 203 apple tv freesat
I just got the 7013 for 1100 OB, I dont game or really use any of those HDMI ports settings besides for ARC. Think it's a win win. You guys need to start digging those 7013's GTG asap

I just realized this morning that my receiver is going to bottle neck my PS5 on my Samsung RU8000. Supposedly CoD is releasing at 120 frames. Not sure if that is 4k/120 though.
@@TechnoDad Yeah, that's what I'll do. I just found out yesterday that none of the AVRs can pass through 4k at 120 unless the signal is compressed. It looks like none of the next gen consoles will work with any of them.

I'm new to modern recievers and Marantz. I bought a sr6009 and I want to use 2 external amps that run 2 sets of front speakers ( I run a 2 channel setup with a center channel. So if I want to hook up my 2 km209 kenwood amps what plugs in the back of the Marantz do I want to be using. I thought I was to use the main pre out and the zone 2 rca output. Is that wrong?

Are you able to change the speaker settings in speakers/amp assign on the Marantz? When running an Emotiva amp, it only allows front left and right speakers but the center only works in the Marantz. I wanted to run the center channel on the Emotiva.

Hey Channa I have a question for you about my new Marantz 6015 (2020) AVR. I watch all your videos and I know you are the only person I can trust to answer this question competently. I really hope you can help me. So here it is... after I bought my AVR I went online and bought an external amplifier from Emotiva. It’s their five channel amplifier. I have everything hooked up correctly just like you showed me. What I’m confused on is whether I need to go into the preamp settings and adjust anything or just leave it hooked up and run audyssey like normal? After running audyssey everything works correctly I just don’t know if it’s actually utilizing my external amp or not. Thanks in advance. Be well.
I too have sr6015 connected to 5 channel amp for 11.1 setup. You have to decide to run your fronts (ear level) or rear for your heights. In menu assignable amps change it to 11.1 or pre amp shutting all channels off and only running your external amp. Ex. I chose 11.1, then select my fronts as external amp to run lcr and sl/sr to amp and left the rest to avr amps. After check manual speaker set up make sure turn on your all sr channels. After run auddessy. How do you like the marantz sound?
@@nickcontreras2595 appreciate the reply. Yea I finally figured it out. Basically the avr I have will only turn off all amplification or nothing. So from what I see you can have an external amp hooked up but the internal amps are technically still active/running. If you go 11.1 like you did then all the amplification is disabled, which is nice. The other cool part about going 11.1 preout mode is the eco mode totally disables because it’s not needed. I can tell the difference in heat too, it just runs soooooooo much cooler and sounds better to boot. It’s more money going this route but buck it, you only live once.
@@gordkeith6679 we both have the sr6015? Right? You can run 11.1, select 4 height channels in assignable amps. When you do this it gives you option category to run heights front/rear, front/middle or just rear. Depending which one you select another category below should appear which will allow you decide front amplification or rear only amplification. I do front only to run all five ear level channels via external amp. So it not all or nothing as it may appear if you own sr6015. Just remember assignable amps>11.1>select 4 channels height>choose height location> and decide front or rear amp only. I bought air com to cool my avr, and turned eco off. My outlaw audio 5000x is a tank and runs cool. How does your avr sound? I notice some high pitch sharpness in the highs or vocals something I didn't experience in sr5008.
"Pre-Amp Assign?" This is interesting. I have never used this feature. What are the benefits and purpose of this mode. I am clueless on this topic. Would appreciate it if you could enlighten me on this subject.
Hi Tehcno Dad.....I'm thinking an upgrade to this receiver, currently I have an Onkyo running a 5.1.2 setup (with two subwoofers). My atmos speakers are top middle in ceiling speakers. Then, my question is, if I go for a 5.2.4 configuration with this receiver, and keeping my top middle in ceiling and adding rear in ceiling speakers, how it will work the atmos effects? or I'm screwed and I'll need to add front-high and rear-high speakers? My room is 13x16 (4x5 meters) and the MLP is at 8.6 feets (2.6 meters)
I am having handshake issues with the 7015, everytime it searches for an audio format the picture cuts out. Its really annoying the sound then comes on but no picture for a few seconds. Not horrible but not ideal either.
oh and another question about the 8k cable with ethernet, are you saying the hdmi cable as ethernet support built into it, I'v never heard of this, am I missing something with my present cables?

Dont buy if you expect good support.I bought the 7015 last August to use in the preamp mode, as a processor. It was great until this May then it just started shutting down in protection mode at random times. It would make a loud popping noise through my speakers when doing so. Sometimes right after you first turned it on other times after using for a couple of hours. Very random. I have been trying to get this unit shipped back for repair for the last 2 months and still haven't. The trouble is their front line employees who are manning the help desk calls, They are uncaring, rude and not qualified to interface with customers. Several calls were made and finally I got supervisor (only through email) that cut to the chase and started the process of a return. I didn't keep the box it came it (my mistake, first time I didn't keep a box) so I had to wait for them to ship me one as they will void the warranty if shipping damage happens and you don't use their box. Supposedly they have sent me a box that I can use to send it back but it's been over 2 weeks since they promised me that. I would never buy a United Sound product again.I made my purchase decision based on interviews with Phil from United at release of this product line. Phil is great but the backroom staff supporting the product is horrible! $2200 and crap support.

none the all only play in 16bits sounds and no one have real time 4k so my old denon avr2808 was stil the best from 10years back sold it last year but why mm atmos sound
Yeah, it's going to be tough for a year or two. I think it will take time before they can get away with 7 HDMI 2.1 inputs...when you say amp, do you mean AVR?

Techno, how do I pull up the settings on my tv in all inputs in other words if I’m on UA-cam and I hit setup/options nothing shows up on the screen I physically have to back out of UA-cam to see the Marantz menu, is there a setting I can change?
If I want to use the monitor 2 output for a projector and run my tv in monitor 1 arc how does this set up? I've tried to connect both and it glitches back and fourth from both tv to projector when using the xbox. When in cable tv it shows both but audio is lost in my 7.3.4 set up. Any ideas? I can't find anything online that is useful to make this work?
What happened to PiP? I haven't been keeping up with AV for a couple decades and left my Yamaha in the States. The one spec I can't find anywhere is PiP. I want to connect my hdmi inputs to my AVR with one hdmi to the tv. I then want to be able to watch a show (input 1) while keeping an eye on my castle in GOT Winter is coming (input 2) or the update status of my xbox one (input 3). There used to be options for tiling the inputs (with one main input selected for sound) in addition to various locations and sizes of PiP. Have manufactures trhown out this very convenient option or am I just blind?

Yes, if you go PS5 -> TV -> reciver you need 2 cables connected to the TV, f you go PS5 -> Reciver -> TV you only connect one :) Ill bet the cable between PS5 and reciver will be shorter and cheaper to.
Hi Adam! Since the HDMI 2.1 chipset issue (ua-cam.com/video/0JYrjFZqQVA/v-deo.html), you are best off connecting the consoles directly to the TV and sending audio back to the AVR via ARC.

This receiver is probably the one that will replace my Marantz SR9600. I do have a question though. Can you leave the SR7105 in standby mode and still watch a source that is connected via a HDMI in port? I do not always want to use the sound of the receiver and just look/listen via my LGC16LA
Hi! Yes, it's a setting in the HDMI menu, which I can't remember off the top of my head, but I have it setup this way on my SR7015. Can you compare how hot this unit gets with how hot the Denon x3600 gets? I’m thinking of upgrading my x3600 but I’m a little worried about heat emission due to small enclosure in my entertainment cabinet. Thanks man!
Hi I got Marantz 5015, with 5.1.2 atmos setup. When I play dolby content sound quality is immersive . While using 2 channels the stereo works well. But the 5015 not upscale/process the stereo to 5.1 or 7.1 . Had sony 1070 , when I played 2ch content I feel the surround but In marantz its flat the details are missing in surround channels for 2ch content. Is there any other settings can I change to achieve the optimal surroundings?

The main feature was skipped, that is Speaker ohms setting without that you may damage the Amplifier

The inclusion of the bigger screen is nice. DIRAC seems to be the only missing feature.

Did you get the SR7015 in? For PS5 just connect the Marantz to the TV and then use ARC to send audio to the AVR.

Hello NEO! Thanks for watching. Yes, there are a lot of things that can be dialed in. I usually run Audyssey and then go in and change crossovers as I know what my speakers can handle and I also have power amplifiers in my setup. So if I lower the crossovers, I know that my amps will pump out more power, especially if I lower the crossovers for my front stage. As far as the 4:4:4, That could be your source device. Make sure that is sending out 4:4:4.
Only one 8K HDMI input, makes it useless for those who are interested in 8K and HDMI 2.1. I'll wait for next year models before upgrading my Denon X6400H...

Actually be it Marantz or Denon they require 8 inches of space on top, left & right space of the shelf too to keep it from getting hot. Just my 2 cents worth. By the way my wife enjoy our Marantz SR5600 with JBL Satellite speakers 7.1 & Marantz SR8500 2.0 Wharfedale tower speakers love it! My tv is the old Sony HX800 40 inch. 😍❤ Thanks & God bless you!

I just realized this morning that my receiver is going to bottle neck my PS5 on my Samsung RU8000. Supposedly CoD is releasing at 120 frames. Not sure if that is 4k/120 though.
Yeah, you'll have to go to the TV directly with your PS5 and then send the audio via ARC to your AVR.
@@TechnoDad Yeah, that's what I'll do. I just found out yesterday that none of the AVRs can pass through 4k at 120 unless the signal is compressed. It looks like none of the next gen consoles will work with any of them.

It only has one. You only need one for a PS5, the ATV4K does not need an 8K/HDMI 2.1 port.

I'm new to modern recievers and Marantz. I bought a sr6009 and I want to use 2 external amps that run 2 sets of front speakers ( I run a 2 channel setup with a center channel. So if I want to hook up my 2 km209 kenwood amps what plugs in the back of the Marantz do I want to be using. I thought I was to use the main pre out and the zone 2 rca output. Is that wrong?

Are you able to change the speaker settings in speakers/amp assign on the Marantz? When running an Emotiva amp, it only allows front left and right speakers but the center only works in the Marantz. I wanted to run the center channel on the Emotiva.

Hey Channa I have a question for you about my new Marantz 6015 (2020) AVR. I watch all your videos and I know you are the only person I can trust to answer this question competently. I really hope you can help me. So here it is... after I bought my AVR I went online and bought an external amplifier from Emotiva. It’s their five channel amplifier. I have everything hooked up correctly just like you showed me. What I’m confused on is whether I need to go into the preamp settings and adjust anything or just leave it hooked up and run audyssey like normal? After running audyssey everything works correctly I just don’t know if it’s actually utilizing my external amp or not. Thanks in advance. Be well.
I too have sr6015 connected to 5 channel amp for 11.1 setup. You have to decide to run your fronts (ear level) or rear for your heights. In menu assignable amps change it to 11.1 or pre amp shutting all channels off and only running your external amp. Ex. I chose 11.1, then select my fronts as external amp to run lcr and sl/sr to amp and left the rest to avr amps. After check manual speaker set up make sure turn on your all sr channels. After run auddessy.

@@nickcontreras2595 appreciate the reply. Yea I finally figured it out. Basically the avr I have will only turn off all amplification or nothing. So from what I see you can have an external amp hooked up but the internal amps are technically still active/running. If you go 11.1 like you did then all the amplification is disabled, which is nice. The other cool part about going 11.1 preout mode is the eco mode totally disables because it’s not needed. I can tell the difference in heat too, it just runs soooooooo much cooler and sounds better to boot. It’s more money going this route but buck it, you only live once.
@@gordkeith6679 we both have the sr6015? Right? You can run 11.1, select 4 height channels in assignable amps. When you do this it gives you option category to run heights front/rear, front/middle or just rear. Depending which one you select another category below should appear which will allow you decide front amplification or rear only amplification. I do front only to run all five ear level channels via external amp. So it not all or nothing as it may appear if you own sr6015. Just remember assignable amps>11.1>select 4 channels height>choose height location> and decide front or rear amp only.
I bought air com to cool my avr, and turned eco off. My outlaw audio 5000x is a tank and runs cool.
How does your avr sound? I notice some high pitch sharpness in the highs or vocals something I didn't experience in sr5008.

Hi Tehcno Dad.....I'm thinking an upgrade to this receiver, currently I have an Onkyo running a 5.1.2 setup (with two subwoofers). My atmos speakers are top middle in ceiling speakers. Then, my question is, if I go for a 5.2.4 configuration with this receiver, and keeping my top middle in ceiling and adding rear in ceiling speakers, how it will work the atmos effects? or I'm screwed and I'll need to add front-high and rear-high speakers? My room is 13x16 (4x5 meters) and the MLP is at 8.6 feets (2.6 meters)
I am having handshake issues with the 7015, everytime it searches for an audio format the picture cuts out. Its really annoying the sound then comes on but no picture for a few seconds. Not horrible but not ideal either.
oh and another question about the 8k cable with ethernet, are you saying the hdmi cable as ethernet support built into it, I'v never heard of this, am I missing something with my present cables?

Dont buy if you expect good support.I bought the 7015 last August to use in the preamp mode, as a processor. It was great until this May then it just started shutting down in protection mode at random times. It would make a loud popping noise through my speakers when doing so. Sometimes right after you first turned it on other times after using for a couple of hours. Very random. I have been trying to get this unit shipped back for repair for the last 2 months and still haven't. The trouble is their front line employees who are manning the help desk calls, They are uncaring, rude and not qualified to interface with customers. Several calls were made and finally I got supervisor (only through email) that cut to the chase and started the process of a return. I didn't keep the box it came it (my mistake, first time I didn't keep a box) so I had to wait for them to ship me one as they will void the warranty if shipping damage happens and you don't use their box. Supposedly they have sent me a box that I can use to send it back but it's been over 2 weeks since they promised me that. I would never buy a United Sound product again.I made my purchase decision based on interviews with Phil from United at release of this product line. Phil is great but the backroom staff supporting the product is horrible! $2200 and crap support.
When I search for this product, it says that the product is a 9.2 channel amplifier. How does it support 7.1.4 then?
Great question HSK! So it processes 11 channels but powers 9 channels. You would need a two channel amp to run a full 7.1.4 Atmos setup.
My Marantz 8015 will be here next week. Can't want till i get it setup and all. I'm replacing my Yamaha 3060. Electricity got that one. 😥

If I want to use the monitor 2 output for a projector and run my tv in monitor 1 arc how does this set up? I've tried to connect both and it glitches back and fourth from both tv to projector when using the xbox. When in cable tv it shows both but audio is lost in my 7.3.4 set up. Any ideas? I can't find anything online that is useful to make this work?

What happened to PiP? I haven't been keeping up with AV for a couple decades and left my Yamaha in the States. The one spec I can't find anywhere is PiP. I want to connect my hdmi inputs to my AVR with one hdmi to the tv. I then want to be able to watch a show (input 1) while keeping an eye on my castle in GOT Winter is coming (input 2) or the update status of my xbox one (input 3). There used to be options for tiling the inputs (with one main input selected for sound) in addition to various locations and sizes of PiP. Have manufactures trhown out this very convenient option or am I just blind?

Do you recommend running HDMI input cables into the receiver (e.g. PS5) and then out to the TV or is it just as well to run the inputs to the TV and then run an HDMI out to the receiver (using eARC)? Is there a difference in these two methods?
Yes, if you go PS5 -> TV -> reciver you need 2 cables connected to the TV, f you go PS5 -> Reciver -> TV you only connect one :) Ill bet the cable between PS5 and reciver will be shorter and cheaper to.

Hi Adam! Since the HDMI 2.1 chipset issue (ua-cam.com/video/0JYrjFZqQVA/v-deo.html), you are best off connecting the consoles directly to the TV and sending audio back to the AVR via ARC.

You are supposed to hear the Marantz signature warmer sound because of the HDAMs. Maybe someone who's heard both can confirm.
This receiver is probably the one that will replace my Marantz SR9600. I do have a question though. Can you leave the SR7105 in standby mode and still watch a source that is connected via a HDMI in port? I do not always want to use the sound of the receiver and just look/listen via my LGC16LA
Hi! Yes, it's a setting in the HDMI menu, which I can't remember off the top of my head, but I have it setup this way on my SR7015. Can you compare how hot this unit gets with how hot the Denon x3600 gets? I’m thinking of upgrading my x3600 but I’m a little worried about heat emission due to small enclosure in my entertainment cabinet. Thanks man!
I didn't notice much heat running it for about 12 hours. But then again, I am using external amplification.

Hi I got Marantz 5015, with 5.1.2 atmos setup.
When I play dolby content sound quality is immersive . While using 2 channels the stereo works well. But the 5015 not upscale/process the stereo to 5.1 or 7.1 .
Had sony 1070 , when I played 2ch content I feel the surround but In marantz its flat the details are missing in surround channels for 2ch content. Is there any other settings can I change to achieve the optimal surroundings?
What about the setting for the TV format ? Should it be set to PAL / NTSC ?? And what's the difference 🤔?
I mean, PAL is for Europe and Asia and NTSC is for North America.
