This week I'm going to walk you through painting a street scene in watercolor. We will work through simplifying the scene, finding connections and using proper values to create the feeling of morning light.
I have a complete guide to all my supplies. Check it out here: www.learntopaintwatercolor.co... - Навчання та стиль

Thank you for the quiet. No music, no laughing and carrying on. Very pleasant. Sort of Bob Rossian.
Because this one cares more!
This video really spoke to me from the different washes to the stages of their value application.
Wow this is what ive been waiting, matt..doing your painting in real time from start to finish..ive learned a lot from this..thanks a lot matt for sharing your talent with us .Godbless
Precious full-length demo, thanks so much.
outstanding, I loved this video!!! Thank you Matthew.
Great! Thanks for this. Your videos are always super helpful. Love the long videos :D
It was fun painting this Plaza scene along with you, Matthew. It helped me a lot. Thank you!
I have been painting, self taught, for many years, but watching link your mid values as you worked your way around was my light bulb moment. I am going to use this technique from now on. Thank you so much, Matthew.
Wonderful! So glad to hear that.
So thoughtful when you posted a full length video of this painting. If there was only one UA-cam channel I could subscribe to for my watercolor learning, that channel would be yours.
Incredibly insightful and soo well explained! This is one of the best video tutorials I have seen till date
A complex scene done in a difficult medium. You did a very good job.
Thank you!
Thank you! Great lesson.
Amazing demo! Extremely insightful and helpful. Thank you! You’re a great artist!
Terrific demo. Matthew. Thank you. It's given me heart to carry on
It really helps to see the close ups and watching you mix your colors. This is such a great tutorial Matt thanks so much.
Wow - trust the process. That really worked well. Thanks for sharing this from start to finish.
I loved to see the whole process of your paint!!! Very didactic and helpful. Thanks for sharing!! Greetings from Brazil. 🎨🇧🇷
Wowzers✨I loved watching you paint this ✨
Great demo! Enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the value and process.
Thank you for sharing your talent. Great video!! I also love long videos. 🤗
Watched the whole thing.. really helpful stuff. You inspire me to try this myself. Thank you for this inlightened video
Gracas por esta excelente propuesta!!!!!
Thank you Matthew! I'm only just starting and this is way too hard for me to start with. I just know I would've overworked this until it couldn't breath! LOL. I used to draw in pencil and charcoal but wanted to break the habit of a photo like finish with a more loose, fluid like style. Thank you so so so much for your videos!
Amazing, thank you.
Good job Matt
Nice!
Thank you so much 🌸 dear master 🌟
Thanks for sharing.
It's really great to see you paint in real time Matthew! I enjoyed watching your process from beginning to end. Your style is a bit looser than mine, being that I tend to start loose then I tighten the brush work with progressive layers.
Dear Matthew do you think you could share this drawing? It would be an excellent starting point for practice. Thank you so much. You are an angel!
The white SUV in front of the red car really had me worried as it was not as crisp but I learned some things Maybe some white gouache paint would help the white car.
Thanks so much. What kind of brush is the large one? You use it in so many ways!
This was great! Please tell us which brushes you used.
Please advise what type of paper good to sustain water? Thanks.
Hello Matt,
What's your secret to getting that grainy texture in your first washes? Andy Evansen also gets very grainy paintings like this. I use Saunders rough paper and Daniel Smith and Schmincke colors but I have trouble getting this grain.
Many Thanks !
This is a great video, as all of your’s tend to be. One thing that would be helpful is a better sense of time - when you step away to allow it to dry you don’t give a sense of how long it takes. You return and say it’s “mostly dry” - a little more detail on how to know when to continue and add more paint would be helpful. Those little cues are hard to figure out.
Did you freehand draw the beginning sketch or did you use a lightbox? The sketching part is difficult for me as I'm not very good at drawing.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Matthew :)
I’m just getting started with the video, but I had a question: (1) Can you submerge your entire paper in water as opposed to applying water to both sides, or would that destroy the paper? I can imagine you’d have to wait longer before applying paint too.
What is your paper brand?
I just passed the like 666, it0s in 667 now! thank G-d.
Hey man, your teaching clips are concise and clear. One thing, your painting is a little too cautious and stiff. Learn how to flow more and be braver with your strokes. Fiddling strokes create static paintings. Watch Alvaro Castagnet paint- he is masterful when it comes to bravura painting.
Try thinking/planning less and reacting more- will
Help freshen up your painting a lot. Cheers!!!
By being cautious in certain parts, Matthew creates beautiful soft transitions and effects. Alvaro just achieves it in a different way. It's a matter of style. I've watched Alvaro as well and I admire both his and Matthew's style.
As was said in one of Alvaro's videos, "There’s really no right or wrong way. It's just the way you want to do it."
Video could only be improved by noisegate and some music added! Nice art!
please, no music. It is such a distraction to learning.
No music...very distracting to me too
Мэн должен дрова рубить а не акварельки рисовать 😂😂😂😂
