Today I'm demonstrating how to paint light in watercolor. When painting in watercolor it can be difficult to get the right strength of contrast to really make the light bright in your painting. Today, I'm addressing that issue and leading you through my painting of a nocturne see.

Great lesson! Looks like you started using masking tape for your paintings. Did you walk away from moistening both sides of the paper?
I should have mentioned this in the video, I tape down nocturne scenes because I don’t do a wet into wet first wash. I also tape down plein air paintings so they don’t blow away.

This was incredibly helpful! I noticed you taped the paper down here. Did you still wet both sides, or have you stopped doing that method as much?
I still dampen both sides unless it's a nocturne or plein air painting.
@@learntopaintwatercolor Oh nice! I apologize if I missed this in a previous video, but why specifically for a nocturne? Is it so you can create darker values easier?

What type of paper is that, its not ripping even with tht many layers and water
Watercolour paper probably 300gsm type
@@umrazubeir3839 300gsm wouldnt hold up against THAT MUCH water tho
the music is so annoyingly loud, you don't really have a loud voice so why put the loud melody in the background??
