The first 20 seconds sums him up really. Brilliant darting run and releases the ball at the right time, but gets clobbered in doing so, putting hmself at risk of injury.
If he wasn't injured for 2 years he maybe would have been one of the best midfielders in the world already. Highest compliment i can give him is he Makes England good to watch..no manager or player has achieved that in many years.
holy shit you literally took the words out of my mouth. jack wilshere is the prototypical old arsenal style center mid, at 21 years old. he has the vision, composure, and decision making of someone who has played in the PL for 10+ years. but in addition to those mental assets, he has the physical tenacity and dribbling/passing skills of the best in England. to have all of that at 21, its frightening. Jack Wilshere is the best youngster in the world, and england cannot afford to bench him.
Rooney likes playing with him, should have maybe had a trip down south for a new challenge but i guess 300k a week can change all that - for some people.m o There is no need for hype, but, people calling Wilshere rubbish when they can't pass a ball 5 yards is so very funny to me.
he is very skilfull, has a good acceleration and is very agile. he is still 21 but already one of the best midfielders in europe. even dani alves urged barca to sign him after the brazil match and said he is a player who reminds him of iniesta. those who say he is not good never saw him play or are actually haters of england or arsenal. this guy is a tremendous player and will become world class if he stays free of injuries
Jack Wilshere is quality, England are finally realising the importance of having technical midfielders who are intelligent and willing to keep possesion of the ball, the balance of Cleverley and Wilshere is whats is needed. Cleverley to keep the team ticking and Wilshere to go Forward with his runs, create space for that deadly final ball or get a shot off. Now you'll get the goals from rooney who has players on his wavelength the link up play between the three players was immaculate.
and you say 2 goals 3 assists but a lot of the moves that have lead to goals and assists have been started by jack...he has the most pre-assists in the team...and during his best performances he never scores a goal, never makes an assist but he gets stuck in better than most midfielders he takes the game to the opposition and begins the pressure that leads to goals same way that Dennis Bergkamp was an average goalscorer compared to the others but is a legend for being an architect of space
Wilshere is really the biggest english talent around now. Joy to watch and is the base for the England squad for the next 10-15 years. Just no injuries please Jack... And to all those trying to compare other young players like Oscar and Cleverley to Wilshere, just stop. Wilshere is infinitely better than them. From a Manchester United fan.
As an arsenal fan i really please with Wilshere. Hebrings something new to the England team that we havnt really seen before. He is the link between the midfield and the strikers. As a team england played well - ive havnt seen England pass the ball like that for a while. We looked good in possesion for a change. In all a good TEAM performance!
I will tell you exactly why wilshere is a future legend. not his ability to go past people, not his ability to play an accurate pass, not his match awareness, none of that! it's his character. playing against barca winning MOTM, scoring the vital goal in a tense game against swansea, coming back from injury and regularly being the best player not only in the team but on the pitch, his ability to lift an entire team just by his commitment. since wilshere came back, everyone plays better. u'll see
ARSENAL FAN HERE. here's my opinion on jack...he's a great player, well capable of being an arsenal and England legend provided he stays fit for the most part. but let's not get ahead of ourselves, he's 21, his career is far from complete...he's accomplished a lot as an individual so far still has a lot more to accomplish. he's a different player from scholes. both have an ability to change a game. wilshere drives at opposition, scholes picks them apart. they compliment but dnt rival each other.
also to add he left the epl when he was like 23 and finished 4th all time in assist which is pretty crazy considering he was still only 23 at the time!
cleverly is just as good in a different way, cleverlys passing and ball control is class but jack wilsheres dribbling is amazing. Jack is younger so i'd say he will be up there with people like gotze when he becomes a legend.
I agree, his runs through the opponents midfield is really important and creates spaces for others, we played best this season when we had Jack, we were strugglin in the end but atleast we still won. But anyway, for you idiots that only cares about statistic, Wilshere had the most second assists in the league this season and yet he didnt played that much, pure class.
I know we have been saying this for the last few generations but I'm really excited about Englands new generation... Hart... Gibbs, Smalling, Jones, Walker... Wilshere, Cleverley... Walcott, Welbeck... Rooney, Sturridge If feel we will be very competitive because virtually all our players a TEAM players not individuals who expect the team to revolve around them... Wilshere and Cleverley will be key as they both work hard for the team and their both excellent at using the ball efficiently
jack wilshere is the future of english football, with cleverly they can reach levels that lampard and gerrard could not reach. Good to see Arsenal contributing to english football, need to see more english youngsters at chelsea though.
agree 100% with you pal. Xavi does not have the best stats either in terms of assists or goals but is still regarded as the world's finest midfield maestro. Wilshere is just 21 and had a lot of injzry prblems so people should be a bit more sensitive and patient with him but is is without a doubt a future world class player
Are you joking? Kroos is 2 years older and a magnificent talent himself and surrounded by truly world class players. Surely it is a testament to Jack's talent that he was trying to do it himself. He was the only Arsenal player who showed enough fight to be worthy of the tag "world class". Fabregas over the last 5 years has created the most goalscoring chances in European football. Mark my words, Wilshere will be better and Cesc will be the first man to admit it.
hazard may not have completely lived up to his 32 million price tag, but he is absolutely not overrated. not many players have had a better debut season in the EPL this year than him. however, if we talk about game-changing ability, i'd give the edge to wilshere.
Cavani , Hazard, and Kagawa are older than Wilshere also. Wilshere is one of the top 3 best young players in the world, with Hazard and Neymar that is.
It's sad to say this.... but if things don't change in Arsenal, we will enjoy Wilshere no more than 2 or 3 years at the most.... it's not only about the money, but the fact that JW needs a team that can challenge against the world, he deserves that.... and at the moment our loved Arsenal can't offer this....
Ok people who dont know much about football, in this possition players peak at around 25 and he is 21, better than Lampard and others at this age. Every year till he trully learns his trade he will get better and to see him at 21 in this possition playing like he is, its clear to see he will turn out great, thats why there is hype because he isnt the finished product yet but already a straight pick for us. (england)
Brilliant player and the kind of player england needs. Just a shame we have hardly any players like him who can keep the ball in tight areas and pass the ball.
Most of the critics about Jack here come from guys that think football is just score goals and make assists, and it´s not, football is about tactics, defend (Wilshere is always doing that), and attack, he is a very incisive player, who call the defenders for himself, this way, he can pass to another player, who is usually free, thanks to him, That is football, he plays with his team, actually, everybody is thinking that the sport is just goals and don't see talent in Wilshere, but they are wrong
the fact that Jack is English does make him slightly overrated because everybody wants England's hopes to be bright, but I doubt you'll ever see someone like Oscar run the show in a victory over Barcelona. Oscar plays second fiddle to Hazard and Mata. A 19 year old Jack outplayed everybody on the pitch that night. Players including Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Nasri, Fabregas and Song. Come back when Oscar can do that. To reiterate, Wilshere was 19 at the time. NINETEEN
Yes I understand skills can serve a purpose and Zidane uses them brilliantly but they aren't necessary to be a great player (as you suggest) and Jack Wilshere does fine without them. You might not like him because you don't find it as exiting but you have to accept that using his ball control is still very impressive.
To be fair to Hodgson, recently he has been getting a lot of youth into the team, all be it because of lack of options through injury and suspension, but still.
We played awful when we had that team, we were strugglin for wins and could barely create any chances, not even against the worst team in the league(QPR). Arteta - Ramsey is not a good enough midfield if we want to compete against City, United and Chelsea. Remember when we met Bayern? Who was the player they feared? Was it Cazorla, Ramsey, Walcott or Arteta? No it was Wilshere. Why? Because he played really good the whole winter and carried us.
look, people have a misunderstanding of what skills actually constitute. you can go past people a million different ways..all of them require skills. (though some can be more reliant on physical rather than technical skills).
I see so many people call Wilshere overrated it's just laughable. If you get motm against Brazil and arguably the best club side of all time in Barcelona you're obviously not overrated. The last couple of months he hasn't been up to scratch, and its players like Wilshere and Cazorla (who in my eyes is a WC player, much more so than Podolski) who have pulled Arsenal through most of their games. Wilshere/Cazorla are constantly Arsenals top performers, and I should know, I go to most of their home games and have done for 3 years.
Promising how? 39 games 2 goals playing at Manchester united and England? Ricky Lambert 38 games 15 goals. Why wasn't he called up? Welbeck by the time he is 25-27 he will be in the championship or league one, or he can play as a winger.
Why not! I love a gentleman's bet! I have to say you are in bad luck due to Jack's injury prone career and him playing at a lesser team who isn't know for building players prior to youth... I.E. Don't hate any player outside luiz suarez and sergio busquests... Jordi Alba will probably join the list also... I just highly disagree with people who say this guy will be a future legend... It takes a lot to become one and it's a shame people are throwing the word around like it's an average thing to become a legend...

Ronaldo (my favs), Ibra, Kaka, Robinho, El Shawarry, Pirlo, Xavi, Xabi, Iniesta, Hazard, Mata, Bale, Nani, Gotze, Neymar, Lucas Moura, Oscar, Erisksen, Drogba, Rooney, Ronaldinho, Van Persie, Robben, Ribery, Ozil, Di Maria, Modric, Sneijder, Kagawa, Cavani, Falcao, David Villa, David Silva, Nasri, EMILE HESKEY!!!! and many more. Do you even watch football? Even if you disagree with some of those you surely can't disagree with all...P.S. I think I won this arguement :)
The first 20 seconds sums him up really. Brilliant darting run and releases the ball at the right time, but gets clobbered in doing so, putting hmself at risk of injury.
because players know if he continues front gg... thats why the entire team tackles him.

There is no need for hype, but, people calling Wilshere rubbish when they can't pass a ball 5 yards is so very funny to me.
Probably the most naturally gifted English player right now and the only playmaker 'Spanish like' midfielder England have
Anyone watching in 2020 bcoz they want wilshere to never injured and be the best💔
this is one of the few games i've seen england play football how it shoudl be played.
Welbeck and Wilshere link up so well! This season is gonna be big for #arsenalfc
he is very skilfull, has a good acceleration and is very agile. he is still 21 but already one of the best midfielders in europe. even dani alves urged barca to sign him after the brazil match and said he is a player who reminds him of iniesta. those who say he is not good never saw him play or are actually haters of england or arsenal. this guy is a tremendous player and will become world class if he stays free of injuries

"The most gifted and talented midfielder sin Paul Scholes" / "Once in a generation player" .... Jack Wilshere !!!!
that tackle at 1:05 is why I come back to this video, seeing him get in like that just puts a smile on my face
Totally agreed bro...
The Man! Wilshere is so much fun to watch. #dominant #worldclass The future of Arsenal
and you say 2 goals 3 assists but a lot of the moves that have lead to goals and assists have been started by jack...he has the most pre-assists in the team...and during his best performances he never scores a goal, never makes an assist but he gets stuck in better than most midfielders he takes the game to the opposition and begins the pressure that leads to goals same way that Dennis Bergkamp was an average goalscorer compared to the others but is a legend for being an architect of space

Not an Arsenal fan but Wilshere will be an all rounded midfield player in a couple of years, such a great talented lad he is.
Such an amazing player and he is stil so young
Wilshere is a special player,he dribble like brazilian and pass like spanian, wilshere brings a new dimension in englands football.
One of my favorite players (Jack Wilshere) in the Barclays Premier League, and that's coming from a Spurs fan...
I will tell you exactly why wilshere is a future legend. not his ability to go past people, not his ability to play an accurate pass, not his match awareness, none of that! it's his character. playing against barca winning MOTM, scoring the vital goal in a tense game against swansea, coming back from injury and regularly being the best player not only in the team but on the pitch, his ability to lift an entire team just by his commitment. since wilshere came back, everyone plays better. u'll see

thanks, corrected it now, was to lazy to write the whole thing :)
i think him and rooney are the only two natural footballers in england
I agree, his runs through the opponents midfield is really important and creates spaces for others, we played best this season when we had Jack, we were strugglin in the end but atleast we still won. But anyway, for you idiots that only cares about statistic, Wilshere had the most second assists in the league this season and yet he didnt played that much, pure class.
Anyone notice how much Wilshere just runs?? insane amount!
He's too good for arsenal.would love to see him at OT.His link up play with Rooney is magical.Top player
Wilshere and Gundogan are two of the best central all round midfielders in the game.
I know we have been saying this for the last few generations but I'm really excited about Englands new generation... Hart... Gibbs, Smalling, Jones, Walker... Wilshere, Cleverley... Wilshere can ball! If you ever start a career mode in FIFA make sure he is the first player you buy, he'll be a 90 in 2 seasons =)
someone who didnt play because of 1.5 years injury and still considered to become world class... is a good player
Are you joking? Kroos is 2 years older and a magnificent talent himself and surrounded by truly world class players. Surely it is a testament to Jack's talent that he was trying to do it himself. this kid is going to be a legend.
so talented and smart with the ball. he is going to become a legend
Cavani , Hazard, and Kagawa are older than Wilshere also.
Wilshere is one of the top 3 best young players in the world, with Hazard and Neymar that is.
what could’ve fucking been man i’m crying
he will never leave arsenal,he will be your legend, his heart is there and im a united fan

I love him
he's the hope of England's future
I remember the Gerrard - Cleverley - Wilshere. midfield working very well in this game.
Gooner at heart, one of the only loyal players left in the game.
The only youngtalent who deserves all the hype
I love how he scores the goal simultaneously with Lampard @ 2:48 :-)
What do you think happens when three players are dragged out of position?
Brilliant player and the kind of player england needs. Just a shame we have hardly any players like him who can keep the ball in tight areas and pass the ball.
England are gonna miss him for the qualifiers.
Both player of the year awards don't lie :)
Dani alves: 'He has a lot of quality and a great personality. If I was given the chance to choose, he is a player that I would sign for Barcelona.'
He'll be playing in Germany or Spain in the next few years. Fantastic player.
We signed him for 30 millions before he even reached his peak! God damn it!
For all the doubters here is statement of some of the best players jack has fighted against:
Notice how Wilshere is pressured so quickly whereas if another gets the ball, the opposition back away.
Jackie boy :D :D Surely he's gonna be the talisman that both England and Arsenal need :) Keep it up lad!!
kroos is 23 n wilshere is 21 and he was out for 17 months in b/w!!
we will see who prevails!!
Search Dan Crowley, 15 y.o CAM. Dubbed as the new Jack Wilshere.
Will be signing for Arsenal tomorrow

You have to remember that Fifa came out last year and Wilshere has had a lot of time out for injuries. On the next game he'll probably be an 85.
No football fan would deny that Lampard is one of the best midfielders to have played the game.
Perfect..well said!
To be fair to Hodgson, recently he has been getting a lot of youth into the team, all be it because of lack of options through injury and suspension, but still.

Final result?
look, people have a misunderstanding of what skills actually constitute. you can go past people a million different ways..all of them require skills. (though some can be more reliant on physical rather than technical skills).
Wilshere and Rooney are pure class
True that, Moses is a really underrated player & just because he wasn't that expensive fans think he's shit but seems a snip for around 8m.
I see so many people call Wilshere overrated it's just laughable. If you get motm against Brazil and arguably the best club side of all time in Barcelona you're obviously not overrated. He can only improve with age & could be realistically Englands best ever midfielder if he carries on the way he's going.
shhhhhhhhhhh genius at work
how many goals and assists had xavi and iniesta ? stats don't tell anything. wilshere is a potential world class player and is blessed with more talent than any other CM in his age just ask dani alves
You tell him mate!
the pass to lampard was from rooney?? last time i checked he played for man utd
Show me ONE major news network GENUINELY agreeing with the theory that the world would end.
Yes he will. He won't stay there without winning trophies. In years to come he will be playing in mainland Europe. Mark my words.
England has a very bright future with Chambo, Theo, Jack and Gibbs. Soon they'll have the same core strength as Germany and Spai has had, building national teams around club players.

Wilshere world class!
Only arsenal player I genuinely like... Hope he fulfills his potential so england has a future
I don't know why everyone's even comparing Wilshere and Cleverly. Wilshere's just in another league.
We have no nothing, so we have something. Nicely observed
I seriously wish you watched all 22 of those games.I wonder if you would say the same thing.
None of them are better. Having seen Cesc and Wilshere at the same age, growing as players, I can fully understand the hype. If he can stay fit and focussed he'll be much better than Cesc, who remains one of the greatest players I've seen play for Arsenal.
Ive seen both play..the main difference is when Wilshere steps on the field, every player on his team goes up a level in passion and the will to win...Cleverly may have the stats but he doesn't have that leadership quality..
dont say oscar is shit, i think you went far, they are both quality players, wilshere is world class, oscar is settling in fast at chelsea, and is showing glimpses of being world class, this is his first year adapting, plus, they dont give the brazil no.10 jersey to anyone you know !
You have to actually watch Wilshere play before you try and say Cleverly is better. The kid impresses me every single match.
I would swap Canales for Götze! But you're right, those are great talents
And we have Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Gibbs, Szczesny and Gnabry as well.
