For 40 minutes, I was in booklovers' heaven. 😇 I found myself nodding along to much of your commentary or was eagerly browsing goodreads to add to my want-to-read shelf. Thank you.
I've fallen out of the habit of watching booktube videos over the past few years, but this video was a real treat and worth coming back for! Loved having a proper peak at your beautiful library. Truly aspirational ❤ Hartelijk dank!
Hi Leo, How lovely to see your amazing bookshelves. I just picked up "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" from my library in large print and am excited to start it tonight. I'm glad you mentioned magazines. I keep a small collection of ones I keep on going back to. Aloha friend.
I’m so glad I waited until this morning so I could have my morning caffeine with this tour! It’s a magnificent collection, Leo. And I love seeing all the books we have read together. Thank you for showing us.❤❤❤
What a treat this is! It's obvious that you put a great deal of love and care into maintaining your library. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. David Sedaris will be back in Amsterdam in September! I loved Jane Eyre but also never got on with Wuthering Heights. The Remains of the Day is a definite contender for the perfect novel, if there is such a thing. The Art of Fielding! ❤ I love that you have Pulitzer shelves. 😊
Thank you, Priscilla 😊 How wonderful that David Sedaris will be in Amsterdam again! I finished The Remains of the Day last night and indeed, what a fantastic novel!
I remember reading Gordon Merrick in college. In those days, I used to hid them. I am not sure what I did to my copies, but they were a lot of fun to read. I have the Patrick White book and tried to read it more than once, and found it difficult. I have to try it again. I think it would be a good book for a group read or a buddy read. Great video Leo! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Jorge. Ah, yes, I guess many young gays used to hide their Gordon Merrick novels. You wouldn’t want fellow students taking a peek into them 😅
What a stunning book collection! I'm so glad you decided to share it with us. I spotted a copy of Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt on your shelves. That is my favorite work of horror; by far the creepiest book I've ever read. And I see that you've already acquired your copy of Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor. How exciting! This video has me daydreaming about when I can finally get bookshelves and start creating a bookish space for myself. Thank you for sharing your marvelous collection with us. Cheers! (P.S. I watched the first posting of this video and didn't get a chance to post this comment.)
Thank you, Hannah. Yes, Hex was creepy, right? Thomas Olde Heuvelt is a Dutch writer. He changed the US edition of Hex slightly to make village life feel more American for his readers.
What happened to your fanasy shelves from your video a few years ago? The small amount of fantasy at the end of this viode seemed to be mostly paperbacks and very small compared to the collection in the other video. I was just wondering.
My small apartment became too full and I had to make room. So I sold my fantasy collection 😬. I do still read fantasy, but like you noticed correctly, I only kept some books, mostly paperbacks, of my favorite authors. And I have a lot on my Kindle. Drastic choices had to be made!
I hear Anthony Trollope brought up so often on BookTube that I feel I have to give him a chance. Which of his works do you consider a good starting point?
What an incredible collection! Thank you for sharing your beautiful library. I just finished And Band Played On by Randy Shilts and want to read more about that time period/AIDS epidemic/gay rights. Do you have any non-fiction recommendations? Thank you. 🙏I've also added those gay literature books you recommended to my TBR. 🙂
Thank you, Christina. I was in my early twenties during the Aids crisis and it was a dark and scary time. Next to Edmund White’s The Farewell Symphony, The Prettiest Star by Carter Sickles, and The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai are some of the novels that deal with the Aids epidemic.

I am curious about your thoughts on Edgar Sawtelle! Will keep an eye out for it on your channel, Marylin Maya!
Wow, I love all those classics and rare books. Stunning library!
Thank you, Peta!

My collection is interspersed with memories of our readings together 🥰
Red White & Royal Blue. ❤
You have really nice books❤! I loved taking a peak at your collection! There are so many I would like to read! Such a shame there is so little time...
Thank you, Magda! And as you know I have a few Rumanian books in my Couperus room! 😊
Yes, I know! I looked to see whether I could spot them. I didn't, but I know they're there

Myself, I started with Doctor Thorne and was taken away from the start.
@@Leoslittlebooklife Sounds good. I'll give it a shot.
Fellow Couperus lover ❤ Also I remember my mother and grandmother reading Boudier-Bakker's De klop op de deur, zo I will definitely read that!
De Klop op de Deur is such a great family saga! Genietze!

Wow, I bet you have many terrible stories from that time and I imagine you lost many loved ones. I am so sorry. 💔😞@@Leoslittlebooklife
❤❤❤
nice books, the shelves themselves look boring though
Well, we don’t all share the same taste in shelves 😉
