I bet Sylvester felt better after that. I also have Halfords plug sockets and they don't stay in the socket either. Enjoyed the video. Here's to keeping our cars Pepi. Cotswolds was great 👍🏻 enjoyed your company x
There's always something cathartic about an oil and filter change. It looks and feels productive. Looks like the Scirocco appreciated the service too and was in a good mood for Radwood!
If the filter is vertical, then yes always pre-fill with oil. That 4 seconds or so with zero oil pressure with a new filter will hurt the bottom end. So i always pre-fill. Even on some GM engines where the filter is horizontal, i always half fill them at least.
Very good call on the fuel hose Miss Katington. Changed it on my RS500 a couple of years back just before I put it on your stand at Yorkshire Motorsport Festival. Hose actually looked fine, but you never know. Same goes for fuel pressure regulators which can fail and split open. Changing both is cheap insurance in my view. Like you said, you'd kick yourself if it went on fire. Thanks again for another great video and keep up the good work. Hope to see you and the folks again at a show next year. Been a while...! Cheers, Rup @GenevaRup
I really need to service the Audi, haven't done it since all the work I did on it during lockdown. It's only done about 3k miles since then, but I guess I should still do it! It's never had new leads in the 13yrs I've had it either. So I guess I should change those. Actually. I'm wondering if our engines are the same? Mine has done 135k miles now, what oil would you recommend? What the manufacturer recommends or something thicker?
What size engine is yours? Mine’s the 1.8, although if yours is the 2.0 four-cylinder I think they’re pretty similar anyway. I just use what’s recommended in the Haynes manual (10w40), I tried using 15w40 once to see if it would quieten the tappets but it made no difference, so I changed the tappets and went back to 10w40.
My advice would probably be to find a different way to what I did 😅. I got a piece of white vinyl wrap and stuck it over the top, then cut out each line by hand with a craft knife. It took me 8 hours in total and the finish isn’t *that* great. There’s probably easier and less torturous ways to do it, but that’s the way I decided! 😂

Great video Kate, I'm so used to the cars we had in the 70s, i still check all the fluid levels before a 30 mile journey 🤣
Great vid. I have an 87' 16v and I appreciate your insight. Thx!
I wish I had a dry ice blaster to clean my engine bay in my 79 scirocco

LOL.... loved the outro. :D

Thanks Rup! Yep, it’s always devastating to see a classic gone up in flames, all over a bit of rubber hose. Hope to see you soon too!
You should gap spark plugs, it takes 2 mins and the spark is fundermental to a combustion engine.
Where in the cotswolds did you go?
i would fill the filter if the oil is gonna stay put!

Any advice on the rear lights? I’d love to do the same on my scirocco.

I was thinking about using stripping tape to mask off and then spray white. What do you think?
@@byfunkyoid2917 That would probably be a lot easier than what I did! 😂
A timely reminder for me to stop putting off a service on my air cooled VW.
Having tuned over 2,400 cars i can honestly say. No. Vs a fresh new paper filter there is nothing in it.
Still seems to be a bit of mansplaining in the comments
