Didn't know tx was this small. But they still sound good af. Nice and clean. Im Juke till the death of me but i give props where its due. They got sound.
The sound isn't even close...sorry. Numbers have nothing to do with quality of sound. Txsu is trying so hard to defeat "physics" that they are sacrificing good tone and intonation for volume.
TSU's tuba section is the truth! They beasting! Wouldn't mind seeing the rest of their band come up. The band sounds good though. SU still gets the W for this battle.
southern plays with something marching bands lack. most marching bands come out thinking "our sections are loud are gonna win" but southern plays with passion . something Jackson seems to have lost and something Texas didn't have .
I fell bad for the remaining 3 bands the Jukes are about to face. Because after burying TxSU alive under a heap of Kingsford, dumping an ENTIRE jug of gasoline on said pile, and setting the whole thing ablaze, the Human Jukebox is gonna end up on the Most Wanted list for MASS GENOCIDE!!!!
Once Txsu's tire out, you can no longer hear any melody, just low brass, and drums!!! Don't enter into a battle unless you have the endurance to sustain your sound throughout!
Man the "Ocean of Soul" has really decreased in numbers and sound over the years. They simply didn't have enough bullets in the gun. SU arrangements are impressive, powerful and well executed. Nice job by both bands but the Jukebox was on another level.
Southern probably was the crowd fav but Tx southern Tubas is killing Su. And they sound very good also....I give it to TX Southern and Southern....I'm proud to be a African American!!!!!
One of the most consistent issues with TXsu's band is lack of talent and numbers in their trumpet section. Every year I listen to them, and their F-horn section is out playing the trumpet section! This year, their entire low brass section is over-shadowing the trumpets. In an effort to be loud, they sacrifice melody, intonation, and articulation. No shade, but if the directors would concentrate on balancing the numbers they have, they would be alright. Right now, the best sounding small swac band is PVU!!!!
These dudes are moving from the 'cranking' business to the 'healing emotional wounds' business. Marching band is evolving bc of these guys

I'm sad Prof. Lee looked like he knew this was his last year being the band director 😭😭😭😭
