Seriously.. this book is just flat out impressive. Not just from a numbers perspective, because I think it's ridiculous there's a whole new set of songs to enjoy each week, but also the quality of the arrangements. Hats off to these students, and to the staff, and definitely Garrett Edgerson and his team, because you can tell each week the amount of hard work, time, and dedication that goes into bringing us(the fans/supporters) a quality product week in and out. Thank you!

Y'all can say what you want to, But Alcorn's Band Came there to BLOW.........and and DID JUST THAT!!! They SURPRISED the SH*T out of SOUTHERN'S JUKEBOX [In the Rain]!!! Undoubtedly,This was By Far the BEST 5th QUARTER BATTLE ALL YEAR between ANY TWO SCHOOLS!!! At the END OF THE DAY.............BOTH OF THESE BANDS MADE THEIR SCHOOLS AND THEIR FANS PROUD!!!! WAY TO GO BANDS!!!

After reading your Reply, the only thing you are saying is SU is saying "ALCORN "WAS" WHO WE KNEW THEY "WERE"" and then you say but SU "Did them In" but you didn't say "HOW???" SU "did them In". I Mean "Song selection", "Sound", "Energy".......what?!?!? You Gotta give me Something!!!😳 Now, I Loved the "Charlie Wilson" Song by SU, but Loved "God's Got a Blessing-With Your Name on It" by Alcorn as well!!!
At the End of the Day......I think you have to Admit that we're only having this Debate because Normally, NO BAND, I MEAN NONE, EVER COME INTO BATON ROUGE, SU's HOME FIELD AND EVEN "COME CLOSE" TO SLAMMING THEM!!!! THIS DEBATE ABOUT "WHO WON" NEVER HAPPENS and I THINK THE MERE FACT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN "BACK & FORTH" ON THE ISSUE GIVES "LEVERAGE and FAVOR" to ALCORN!!!! THIS VIDEO BATTLE BETWEEN THE TWO BANDS WILL DEFINITELY HELP ALCORN IN THEIR RECRUITING WAAAAY MORE THAN IT WILL HELP SU!!!!

I love SU but I enjoyed Alcorn more. Alcorn has been growing on me these past 2 years, their sound has definitely gotten better. Not taking anything away from Southern AT ALL cause that "Memoirs" was FIRE, just my view on this battle.

Man smh.. This 5th quarter battle is one for the history books! Alcorn & Southern, I salute you both! To be able to deliver high quality performances like this in torrential rainfall shows true musicianship. It also demonstrates great pride and dedication for HBCU marching/show bands. I am so proud of you both! A winner in this is too close to call. It's by far the best stand battle I've ever seen. Both programs are considered top-tier/grade A in my book.

Alcorn has come a long way. They def don't sound like an high school band anymore. They gave an better battle imo than JSU & Talladega.

Southerns "You Are" @06:00, gave tears to my eyes. It sound so beautiful. Alcorn sounds amazing as well. Both bands went above and beyond in that rain. The rain gave new meaning to this battle. I enjoyed both bands. NO one does it better than our SWAC bands!

I am the biggest SU fan out there, and they sound awesome!!!!!!.... but maaaaaannnnnn alcorn sounds great!!!!!!! win, lose or draw!!!!!!!!! they may be the highlight of the honda battle of the bands.
Alcorn deserved to go to Honda. In my honest opinion, they have been better than JSU this season. And that alone is impressive.
i love southern band to deaf as if i went to the university. But from the you tube footage Alcorn Band hit southern with a few unexpected jabs. Im more so proud of Alcorn improvement. People love to see competitive 5th Quarters like this
Straight brass battle. The rain just completely took the woodwinds out of consideration. Ok, Alcorn with the God's Got A Blessing Arrangement. Good Job by both programs.

I was there at this game and its nothing like listening to some sexy ass slow jams while sittin in the rain. Ima SU fan to the core. But i cant even hate. Both bands did an amazing job! Alcorn put on a show that night even tho SU blew they ass out as they were marchin in 😂. Both did awesome in that weather. Loved it.

By far this has been southerns equal opponent Alcorn didnt overblow they didnt play boring music and they gave southern a reason to play back i think southern has mad respect for them and ONLY them
No respect given. I spoke to the su band director of band. Nathan Haymer, And he said no band is match for su or equal, He just said that su is trying out past the old southern

I have to disagree with you on that Drequynn Rod...I think SU's sound improved since Doc retired....No doubt that under his direction, the Jukes was the total package....They just lacked sound quality and phrasing. They were still one of the most entertaining bands during his era tho.
Ugh those conditions are horrid. Big ups to both for staying out. JUKEBOX.....

This 5th was a BRASSFEST. And who can blame the woodwinds of both bands knowing that a deluge like this can wreak havoc on woodwind instruments. There were just a few piccolos on Alcorn's side

Alcorn has been getting deeboed for a minute... but not the last 2 years. Great sound, great power and balance.... good arrangements! I'm a fan of Alcorn. SU is very difficult to match up against. While SU sounds great, their song selection took took a hit this year (except 'you love me'). Both bands did that.
Let me tell you something. Alcorn's "At Your Best" by Aaliyah....WHEWWWW!!!

Of course the boom is loud but it doesn't really matter when it's you have tempo issues and I've been noticing that a lot this year. Alcorn vs Su was the best 5th quarter this year, it'll be my first time going but I can't wait to head to the Honda and listen to my boys turn the Honda out this year.

SU did not destroy them at all & made JSU leave the stadium in the 5th, Haymer was even telling them to leave.....but the Boom still played one more song,then left...The BOOM had more to play! SU only had one song ...that was that Jill scott tune. All that other stuff they played...was tryna be all technical, trying HARD to show they can out play the BOOM when SU crowd did not know what the hell SU was playing...lol The crowd could not even get into it...FACT!!!! the one song JSU played JUPITER had more runs & technical than almost everything that SU played & the BOOM also entertained...people knew what the hell JSU was playing!!!! Just wait until Doc Little gets full control of that damn JSU band...I cannot wait for next year!
Alcorn was more entertaining if you ask me I mean SU gone b su. But Alcorn Is really an eye opener

Once again like last year Alcorn made a battle of it. They have made a lot of improvement over the past couple of years. One thing that I hate to see is it seems like people are always trying to knock SU for song selection although they come with new heat almost every week. When any other band plays SU it is their week to shine so just because you haven't heard ASU at all this year and all the songs sound new doesn't necessarily equate to better "song selection". Great job both bands, W to SU. JSU grad here...

I a Southern fan"Southern took another W. Don't get me wrong bout Alcorn, they did come up and they sound so much better this year, But su top them in sound"loudness and balance and clarity". Alcorn can't steady keep playing slow jams that's not a blow out hard songs. Easy kill for another band to overblown them if they only play slow songs

I feel u son, on dat one. I was a major part of that battle for many years, like 6 to be exact.. Everson and Kedric are truly inspirational music instructors and great leaders. They were destined for greatness... I'm still a Su fan but I'm a big lover of the new sound of Alcorn, and they are number 2 on my list in my opinion. Great Job to all the directors that played a instrumentive part in SOD becoming relevant again, included The Maestro Everson Martin and the big dawg Asst. Dir. Brian Sterling (we miss yall in the ville, but).,the SWAC needed it, and y'all again..... #

I love SU they are always going to do their thing..but SOD sounded real nice. They have been gradually improving over the years. Would have liked to seen this battle with better elements... would be nice to see them at SWAC Championship but...SU need some help getting there lol

Die hard boom fan, but this was better than the boombox 5th. I give SU the w buy a very slim margin. Acorn made SU work for it. Can't say the same for Talladega or JSU. Alcorn has been steadily improving year after year. No one gave the jukebox a run for the money this year like Acorn. No telling how they will look in another 2-3 years!!!

Again I ask... And I am lover of the jukebox...pure lover...but that same intensity they gave on that last song... Which ended the night and should have any band packing up...that same intensity and effort, I would love to hear on a classic like "love thang"... The classics just don't sound the same when I hear them nowadays. Maybe it's just me

Could have announced & went to gym,auditorium or something if they wanna battle that bad!!!! Dedication my arse...I just hate raining on instruments..just hate it! In that case they could have got on the field at halftime, slipping & sliding..lol. but im just messing wit yall. Its cool though.

Alcorn messed up when they played that rap tune at the end. Lol Overall outstanding battle! Alcorn has been getting better every year. Still some balance issues at times in my opinion. This game should get much more "band head" attention next season. Great job to both bands!
