Total Newbie here-- as in never, ever canned anything!! Thank you so much for breaking it down and keeping it simple. So many times if a Newbie asks questions on FB etc. they are made to feel stupid for not knowing. You NEVER do that and you don't know how much that means. I say-- You weren't born knowing it all, you had to learn from somewhere---I'm learning from you--THANK YOU!!! 🥰 🥰 🥰
My first year canning. I have done pickles, peppers, and tomatoes. I bought a Presto canner, because I couldn't afford the others. I want to can some ground beef and chicken for my pantry. I appreciate your instructions and you make things fun.
I LOVE that you and James are always there for each other, even if it's something like setting the canner lid. What a beautiful example to the world of what a marriage blessed by God looks like 🥰
Remember to let the canner “vent” for 10 minutes before putting the pressure regulator on, to allow steam to displace the air inside the canner. Great video! I love your perspectives on just about everything! ❤️
It feels so good after a canning session, little butterflies in the stomach, heart filled with joy knowing that I am stocking my pantry for my family. They appreciate all the work I put into making sure they won't go hungry.
Thank you, I’m a beginner, bought all the supplies, got all my dry goods canned… now for the meat.. hamburger, roast beef, pork loin, pork shoulder etc. and water basing eggs👏👏👍👍💕🇱🇷
Thank you so much for teaching this lost art! My grandma just passed yesterday and she use to can all the goodies from their garden and more. I never got to learn this from her but I'm thankful for people like you who are helping young families like ours! My All American canner comes next week & im a sponge right now learning all the things!
After I wash my jars I put them on a cookie sheet and put them in a 190° oven. That keeps them hot when I fill them. I add a cube of beef bullion to each jar and a half tsp of salt for a bit of extra flavor.
My brother in law is a trucker. The lady that owns a trucking company who just bought my daughters house are all saying there’s suppose to be a truckers strike on Sept 7 th…..I will be canning meat out of my freezer this weekend, especially hamburger and sausage which I cook in many recipes. I’ve been dehydrating frozen veggies I had in the freezer to make room…wow a large bag of corn shrinks to a small freezer bag….thanks for your constant inspiration…those of us who listen feel blessed to have a Kitchen Fairy like you to keep us up lifted…. I just saw whereas farms in West Virginia have had their crops destroyed by army worms…….without hay how will they feed their livestock…..oh I know the higher ups will say sell them….at a loss…..they can’t but they might have to…….. America needs to look up to the sky and pray to God, pray our country stays strong, stays level headed and works at preparing for the worse and praying for the best.
I’m crying 😭😂🤣 “they have a little divorce period a bit later” when I watch you I think about how what a great teacher you are and how much fun you make it. thank you 😊
I am here for ALL the canning videos. I'm brand new this year and only have a water bath, so I'm excited to learn from you about pressure canning! I want to take the plunge but I'm so afraid to blow my face off lol. You're such a great UA-cam momma to me, I'm learning so much. Thank you for taking all the time that you do to create this content for us!
A few weeks back I did my 1st preservation of meat, and this past weekend some turkey. My husband sees how beautiful the turkey looks yet was concerned about the Hamburg. I had to remind him that the fat is what gives it flavor, which he knows when he is cooking. It then clicked. This morning, while having our morning coffee, as I like to browse through what I might want to watch, he watched along with me. I recently become a follower, and what I love, is that you are "real". No fluff, simply "real". You get it, as you don't "sweat the small stuff" Love your style!! Keep on being you and being real.
Update: So, I ran out of pint size jars, but I several half pints. I used 12 of them, but 1 didn't seal. I'm finally over my canning fears and the best part is, my oldest daughter (11 yes old), was willing to help lol! She insisted we make apple butter this weekend, so looks like I have to get more jars! Thank you so much for the videos!
Thank you so much for this video. I just canned about 50lbs of ground beef. Im exhausted but so satisfied with the accomplishment. I love your channel and your humor in the light of bad things coming. Keep up the good work. You're appreciated.
Love home-canned ground beef. It's perfect for a quick night dinner. Pair it with spaghetti sauce, brown it for tacos, beef gravy over biscuits, or make sloppy joes.
Last summer I had my first experience canning meat. Easier than I thought. Now I keep roasts canned in quart jars for a quick meal. Also chicken. Thank you for the encouragement.
Thank you for this. I have canned vegetables and fruit for more than 20 years. But never meat-we keep our freezers full. Recently I decided I need to at least know how to can meat in case my freezer dies or power goes out for an extended period of time. Having this video is *SO* helpful-I learn so much better by watching rather than just reading in a book.
I've been a water bath canner & never took the leap to pressure canning. I did buy the 921 so I'm going to load up the burger and give it a try. Thanks for your inspiring videos. Great job. Love your ethics.
Thank you for making this video!!! Because of it, I just use my new pressure canner for the first time today. I was able to put away, 5 lbs of ground beef. What a great feeling of accomplishment, after working through the initial fear of pressure canning. Thanks again for the encouragement!
You’re fun! I’m a wide mouth fan as well. 😂 Been canning meat for years! My children ask for canned meat for Christmas! Their favorites are canned chicken and canned sausage! I do a lot of wide mouth half pints (8 ounces)! I began canning meat for meal prep ease! Now it’s for survival! God bless you!!
This will be the way to go moving forward. The things in the grocery store if they’re even available will be the way to expensive. We will all need to go back and learn how to do a victory garden and how to preserve what we grow
Thank you Patara for explaing the canning process to the "newbie-doobie's" out here. Water Bath great for acidic foods, Pressure for meats, some soups, etc.
I am a year old newbie and am getting ready to can up some ground beef and I needed a refresher on how to can it up. Love the way that you explain everything step by step. Really enjoy canning . Thanks and looking forward to more videos..
You have such a beautiful smile🙂 I used to do so much canning, but haven't in years, since I live in a small apartment and don't have room. But I canned meats too, especially deer and several times pork. It was always pieces, never ground, and it worked great in soups and stews. I mostly used quart jars due to family size. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and for your amazing kindness to be willing to help. God bless you and your family is my prayer 🙏
Thank you for taking the time to make this video! I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge! My grandmother used to can, but she died when I was 9, so there were many things I would’ve learned from her, but did not get a chance to. Canning has become one of those almost forgotten skills for young people. I hope this video will be shared with them as well!
I have been using a Mirro magic and a Presto for years. Love canning for sustainability. I’m giving my daughters BF’s mom and sister a canning lesson this weekend.
I cooked my ground beef in crock pots last time. It was a bunch of beef. It was so easy, and I ended up with 19 pints last weekend. I try and pick it up when it goes on sale, and put in the freezer until I have a bunch to do.
When my wife left me she left all her freezer burned beef and vegetables for me. I canned vegetable beef soup with all that stuff. It was really good. Freezer burned stuff is just dehydrated. As long as it has been kept frozen it should be ok. Mom called it dish rag soup because she said it tasted like I boiled the dishrag to make it. She said people during the depression boiled the dish rag to make soup. She always had this saying that she was hungry enough to eat the wall paper off the wall. Back then they really did. Wall paper paste back in the day was made from wheat flour. So the peeled the wall paper off and ate it.
Ground beef was one of the first things I learned to can and I’m so glad I did. I’ll happily give up part of a Saturday to make work night dinners a breeze.
Oh my dear, you are such a joy to watch! I laughed out loud several times while watching. I woke up this morning pressed with the thought …”.clean out your freezer get all that meat into jars …. NOW” we are headed into another hurricane season. Ida left us 6 weeks without power. Thanks for what you do!
Searching for canning meats and this was recommended. How did I miss this? So far I’ve only done tomatoes, jam, pickled jalapeños in water bath, but I’ve asked for a canner for Christmas, and I’m getting ready to go big time. I guess now is the time. Really appreciate your videos, wisdom and boldness!
I agree with my sister below. I've been canning for a while and you still taught me things I needed to know. This was incredibly informative. You're an awesome teacher! Blessings on you darling
I’m in the middle of pressure canning for the first time. I’m waiting for it to quit steaming out the top and cooling down. I’ve never done any canning before so as usual I jump to the hardest way of doing things. I was given the canner probably 10 years ago brand new but was too chicken to do it. Thank you for giving me the courage
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that goes though tons of kitchen towels when canning and washing the sink and kitchen! During canning season, I wash more towels than underwear!
Thank you so so much !!!! It looks like I can do it but just the set up alone was a lot of work. I know I’m not the old gal that didn’t learn to can . Even though Mama tried, Mama tried to teach me canning, I didn’t see the need to know. Boy howdy I was wrong. God bless y’all for coming back for the newbies!!!! 😎
I measured out 3 inches on my de bubbler tool and used a Sharpie marker to mark it. Then I don't have to keep measuring it . I have been canning for years but that has helped me. You don't want to boil your canner dry. I did once trying to can when sick . I destroyed a $80 canner and had to toss what I was canning . Hard lesson learned
Thank you Patera. I love watching your videos. You are a well of knowledge and you don't make people feel stupid for not knowing. I've been watching your channel for about 2 years now. My Ball book did Not have a page for just plain ground beef and I thought "Well Patera will know!". Lord bless you, your family, and your farm.❤
Patara I've canned with my grandmother and myself for years. I really appreciate you showing and explaining to people who are getting started or just thinking about it. I do the water bath Cann, most of the time. Because I don't have a pressure cooker. And yes it takes longer but you know, use what you have. Lol..girl I love ya
Thank you Patara - I got 9 pounds of Hambuger yesterday 80% An want to can mine instead of freezing - God bless you especially with prices going up daily . The Hambuger was $3.89 a pound when 16 months ago i got for $1.98 a pound . Ive asked my oldest Son lets go in on 1/2 pig & Cow as meat at stores is just CRAZY along with gas today May 27, 2022 . Plus at 56 just starting to can .instead of freezing everything. We tripled our garden this year so will be canning our veggies etc .... God bless you for all your GREAT INFORMATIVE CONTENT . Mrs Josette Tharp Montgomery County , Texas 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for doing this. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain, teach, and hopefully give some of a little courage. I have a pressure canner that I bought over 10 years ago, but have never used. I do tons of water bath canning, but my grandmother made me leary of pressure canning. She would teach me and let me help with all the water bath canning, but would shoo all of us out of the kitchen if she was pressure canning. It scared her, because she actually knew an older lady that had an explosion. I know that the canners nowadays have all kinds of safety measures, but I have just kept putting it off. I'm hoping that if I get enough information it will give me the courage to take a step and jump into the deep end.
As someone who has never canned but its something I'd love to try (jars are over $5 each here and you can't buy a pressure canner either) you answered some questions that I had! Thank you so much, hi from Ireland 😊
Thank you so much for this. My pressure canner just arrived yesterday from Lehman’s. My mom and I have never canned anything, although our grandparents and great grandparents parents were farmers/homesteaders. We’ll be water bath canning pressure canning this weekend. Your video has taken away any remaining fears I had about canning. I picked up the Ball Blue book as well from Lehman’s. Staying busy. God bless you and your family. 🙏🏽❤️
Thank you so much for this video! I wasn't raised up around canning and am mostly self taught on how to garden and how to can. I have done lots of reading and UA-cam videos to aide along the way.
Even though I was familiar with the info, it is always so enjoyable watching because of your down home approach. You always get "style points" and brighten up a day!
Patara: I'm a day late and a $ short so to speak. I guess better late than never. I've been hesitant about canning meat. I've canned nothing except for jam and jelly for decades. I had only helped my mom can just about everything from the garden - but, never on my own. I just ordered a pressure cooker canner online before they are all gone. I'm going to do ground beef first. YAY! Thank you for the inspirational, educational, and practical tips.
I am planning on canning soon. I feel intimidated, but watching your videos gives me more confidence. Your online personality brings me so much joy. Thank you.
I just love your videos especially NOW 😬 3/2022 my first year pressure canning...boy have i been canning, i LISTENED when you said start prepping 🙏❤❤ thank you for ALL your videos. Wonderful personality, & attitude 😉
I did it!! WhoooHoo! My husband has been asking me to can ground beef but I was too chicken to try. I'm a newbie canner, but after watching your step-by-step video CANNING Ground Beef for BEGINNERS, I thought I'd try. EASY-PEASY! Thank you! Thank you! Btw, I am hooked on your show. Keep 'em coming.
When you lose your entire freezer full of meat ( hundreds of dollars) that’s when you kick yourself for Not taking the step to get this done along with all the other meats! Thanks Pantra!
I love your video on doing the hamburger it is fantastic I'm still learning on canning and pressure cooking I haven't done it yet but I've done water bath I just started about last year doing this and tomorrow is my 60th birthday so wow I'm a late starter in life but I'm still learning thank you Kathy Baker
I guess it's true you learn something new every day i am 57 years old and i have seen a lot of stuff but never have i seen meet caned and it don't go bad with being in the fridge.i have heard of it but never seen it done thank you
Thank you for reminding me how to can! I used to do a lot of it back in the day. Mostly just fruit jams, tomato sauce, and that sort of thing. I had to get rid of all of it when I moved into a condo about 15 years ago. Now I'm remarried, and live in a big house, so I can store some new supplies! I think the pressure canner might be out of my pay grade, but the hot water bath still seems do-able. I'm asking for canning supplies for Christmas!!
I've been canning water bath and pressure on a flat surface for YEARS and years....I was today years old when I heard you couldn't. Loved this excellent informative video. You are a doll.
I love canning meat. I just went back and search your videos to watch u. We have a All American canning. It is the bomb. Love love your channel. Old and new videos ❣️
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your canning video today. I had my mother’s old pressure canner, but between finding a new gasket and getting the gauge calibrated, I decided to buy my own. I have an induction range that only works with either stainless steel or cast iron cookware. I knew aluminum wouldn’t work, and most canners are aluminum. So, I searched and found a Presto pressure canner that has a stainless steel bottom! I am VERY careful with that big canner being on that stove top, believe me! I have been successful canning so far this summer, all the steps are coming back to me since I haven’t used a pressure canner in decades. I needed a bigger water bath canner than what I had been using these past few years, but couldn’t use the old speckle ware water bath canner because it is way too big. I know that would work on an induction stove, but decided to try out the Ball electric water bath canner. I have loved it! I can put it anywhere on my counters, and it doesn’t get the surrounding area hot. So I have been experimenting this summer and enjoying my canning this year. I wish everybody great success in their canning! 👍
I know you seasoned canning gals have done canning videos in the past but I think its great that you put on newer ones because some may not be too sure the older ones are still relevant. Kudos for all you do. Im fairly new to pressure canning. There are way too many things I was missing out on like meals in a jar etc when I had awesome garden harvest and grocery deals. Im 65 and made myself get pressure canning. I bought my Presto canner new and it sat in the box at least 7 years!! I love the canner and bough the bigger one too. Im really enjoying pressure canning. Its almost an addiction now 🤣
I will do some hamburger this weekend. Today I made cowboy candy for the first time. Made sure I planted a lot of Jalapenos this year. I am not a newbie but I can always learn more. Thank you for all your videos.
I pressure canned for the first time yesterday. I did pinto beans and chicken soup stock. I was nervous but everything worked out great. Can’t wait to do more.
From Linda...in all the time I've canned red meat I never thought about pre-cooking the meat. Never had an issue but will try your way Patara. I've always trusted your teaching and info. Love you Sister.... Blessings
So glad you posted this! I have a bunch of ground beef in the freezer that needs to be processed. I’m going to can some as chili, but it’d be great to have some plain beef too.
You are a born teacher, Patara! Teaching is really part of your calling. What size All American canner do you have? Is it the 10.5 QT? It looked small enough for me to handle. I’ve been looking at them, and want to buy a smaller one, since it’s only me to can for. Love you and James!! ♥️❣️🙏🏼❣️♥️
I can outside on a 2 burner L.P. gas camp stove. We canned on an old 21 quart Mcdonald canner for years. We bought the all American 931 pressure canner and we love it.. We always heat our lids also.
I have only canned pressure and water bath on a flat top stove and have not had any issues. Gentle is the key! So far this year I have ran two water baths at once on my stove and have had no issue. As Patara mentioned google your stove!! This is my first time canning meat. I’m excited! 😊 Thanks Sister for the great video! ❤
I wish I could afford a pressure canner. I remember my mom and grandma canning. Scared the livins out of me. Lol. I just love your channel. Feels like home. Thank you!
Thanks for all rhe hard work you do. I know our feet hurt from the work. Appreciate your videos and you are a blessing to others and hubby too😅. Its takes two. God always helps us 💪💪 to be a blessing to orhers.
As a food engineer I have to point out that the salt is not only for taste reasons, the salt helps to distribute evenly the heat within the content.

I add a little vinegar to my canner. We have really hard water and the vinegar prevents the scum ..... I don't know what it's called, on the jars.
Been canning for years, but have honestly never done meats. Guess after seeing this video its time to start.😊👍

Thank you for this video. I am canning more meats this weekend, so this is great timing. May you and yours be blessed.
Thank you! You too!
Like I’ve said before Patara , you’re such a patient teacher. Step by step. Love your videos.🥰🌹

Newbie Doobie here 🙋🏻♀️ I appreciate you taking time to teach as you go, waiting on all my supplies to get here so I can start!
I’ve been canning for years but I love any canning videos

I love how your animals are so clean. You really love and appreciate them. Thank you.
I have 40 lbs of ground beef coming my way in October. I’m new to canning, so I REALLY appreciate your help!!! Thank you!!!
Real cooks always have full conutertop. The shows have a large staff that gets everything cleaned and ready.

I have started canning again after 15 years. Had to relearn the process all over. I canned hamburger for the first time this year and love it.
Wish I had you 50+ years ago when I started canning! Excellent teacher❤xo
I never have luck canning meats. With the cost of it here in Canada right now, I don't want to fail again! Thanks so much!
She is so cute and entertaining and informative. Very easy and specific.
😊😊😊
I did it!!
OMG this little lady is so adorable!
When you lose your entire freezer full of meat ( hundreds of dollars) that’s when you kick yourself for Not taking the step to get this done along with all the other meats! Thanks Pantra!
you have motivated me to process meat again. perfect for spaghetti, chili, tacos, etc...
I so look forward to your videos. They make my day no matter the subject
I guess it's true you learn something new every day i am 57 years old and i have seen a lot of stuff but never have i seen meet caned and it don't go bad with being in the fridge.i have heard of it but never seen it done thank you
Thank you! I love how thorough and easy to understand your explanations are. Much appreciated.
Thank you so much for the beginner lessons. I need these.
I did a test run my first time with canned water (lol) so I felt comfortable enough to actually can real food. It's easier than I thought it would be.
I've been canning water bath and pressure on a flat surface for YEARS and years....I was today years old when I heard you couldn't. Loved this excellent informative video. You are a doll.
I have been afraid to can meat but you do make it seem easy , with meat prices soaring , it is time to start ..
When I can ground beef I add onions, garlic, sea salt and beef brone broth. I also leave the fat from the ground beef.
Followed your video. Pressure canned 11 pints today. My first time pressure canning ever! My Mom would be proud.
Blessings
I've canned vegetables for 43 years, but never ground beef. Thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks.
I thought I was the only one who goes through kitchen towels. Now, I feel validated! 😁
I have canned forever but not meats. Thank you for this. I have 2 freezers full of food. If we should lose power for long, I'd be sunk. Thanks!
Thank you once again for the great education. I can not wait to do this. Step by step.
Love your direct and simple instructions with tips to make sure it’s done correctly, I’m going to buy a pressure canner before they all get gone.
Great process and simple instructions for the”I” newbee.
I canned ground beef and some of my canning friends had never heard of it. I love it. Glad you posted this.
