This review was done over a year ago. The bags in the review are 21-22 stamped bags. It's possible that Black Sheep has made changes to the bags since then.
i just bought a set of these because of that video after 3-4 days looking on what i should buy next. thank you for that great review. Can't wait to receive them!!
Got both the costellos and black waters. Usually throw the black waters until the humidity Cranks up then break the costellos out. They are immune to humility and are super hole friendly
Excellent review Mike. I value your experience and knowledge. I am just getting into the sport, so this helps me out a bunch. I've already purchased the swag bag Ruby with your recommendation. I've only had them for a few days, but so far I like them.
The materials are different on both sides of the bags. They play similar but the Costellos are a little slower. The Rubys are a 6/9 speed and the Costellos are 6/8. However, the Ruby slow side plays like a faster 6 and the Costello is a slower 6. I prefer the slow side of the Rubys. It's softer and just feels better in the hand. On the fast side, I prefer the Costellos. It's a little slower and easier to control. Both are great bags. It's really just personal preference with the slight speed differences and materials.
Thanks Mike, another great review! These are now on my short list. I was wondering if you could start including links in the description for items you review?
Love the speeds and the orange and yellow colors . I’ve looked all over and can’t find these colors. Where can I find a set like the ones in your review?
The color is actually listed as hulk red/yellow but they look more orange then red. The 2023 bags were just released and they don't list this color. Not sure if they will add them or not but you need to look for the 2021-2022 bags. Here's a link that shows them in stock. Not sure how many they have in stock. qcyg.square.site/product/black-sheep-baggers-costello-bags-1-2-set/452?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=2
Hey Mike, love your reviews and how articulate you are on details to help us all make decisions on buying bags. I recently got a new set of Costellos so 2023 stamp. The template feels bigger than the 2021-22 stamp. Is there a difference in playability between the two that you are aware of? Thanks
I have not thrown the 2023 Costellos yet. A larger template should make it a little more forgiving and hole friendly. I'll have to see if I can my hands on a set of the new Costellos to see what differences there may be.
Awesome videos. I'm looking to buy my first set of bags. Generally speaking does a bigger template bag or a smaller template bag seem to be more hole friendly as far as not getting caught up as much?
The template doesn't have an impact on hole friendliness. The materials, the fill and how well they are broke in are the biggest factors in that. In general, the faster the speed, the more hole friendly but there are exceptions. The larger template bags are great for blocking the hole, pushing and collecting. The smaller template bags are better at getting around or in between bags. I hope that helps. There's more to it than what I wrote but it's hard to put it all in a comment. This may be a good topic for a future video.
These are a touch slower on both sides. On faster boards, these are more controllable than the Rubys. On slower to normal boards, they both play great. It's just a personal preference.
I haven't found any exact clones yet but the Feist Slingers are a fuller Costello. I did a review on them. The Pro Sniper is close - same materials but the fast side is reversed.
Hey Mike, how do these Costellos compare to the Fallout X? Besides the Fallouts being "carpet"? I already own a set of the Fallouts and like you say once it gets kinda humid these are my go to bag. I usually use the Killshots 357 but humidity really kills the slow side on it. Appreciate your feed back, thanks.
The slow side of the Costello plays a little faster than the Fallout X. However, the fast side of Costello is a touch slower. The fill and flop are about the same. For me, the Fallout X is a little more controllable and I tend to use it when I want to throw more blocks. The Costello is great for running bags in the hole. Both materials just melt into the hole.
Hi mike, my first set of bags are game changer steady 2.0. I do great with them but need a step up, would this bag be the next step up as far as being able to do everything with
This would be a great bag to step up to. The slow side of the Costello is the same speed as the fast side of the Steady bags. The Costellos are one of my favorite bags. You won't be disappointed in them.
The Ruby bags are probably a touch fuller after breaking in but it's not a big difference. Both bags play well in humidity. I would give the edge to the Ruby bags. They are a slightly faster bag to start with so they tend to play a touch faster when the boards get sticky.
Not sure about the coating. They play slower than normal boards do. The big issue is around the hole. The edges are a little less rounded and bags will hang up a lot. In a pinch, they are playable but I wouldn't use good bags in them because you are likely to get some pulls and snags from them.
I would say yes. It's the same slow side material as the pro sniper so they play close to the same. The pro sniper is just a touch faster on the fast side and a little floppier. The Costellos are a forgiving bag.
I've been using Toss Sauce for most of my bag recently. That's a good option but so is Sac Relax and the Bag Butter. The Costello bags don't take a lot to break in but I found that if you just throw them, the fabric takes a while to soften up and feel comfortable in the hand.
Hey Mike, I bought these bags based on your review. But I have to say that I completely disagree with your assessment of these bags. The fill in this bag is without a doubt the worse fill I've ever felt. The beads will not stay consistent in your hand. The beads will literally leave your hand during your back swing. Maybe I just got a defective set. Worse bags ever!
The fill in these is the disc fill that most companies are using now (Lucky Bags, Buffalo, Ultra, Cornhole Scenario, etc). We all have different preferences. I haven't thrown the 2023 bags. Mine are from last year but fun what I've been told, the bags haven't changed. Sorry to hear that you don't like them.
@@MikesBags Hey Mike, I wanted to let you know that my comments on this particular bag is in no way a reflection on your videos. You are without a doubt one of the best bag reviewers on youtube. I bought some Costello's a couple of weeks ago. Those bags appear to be much fuller than mine.

My 2023 Costello’s are very thin and floppy. Mike’s look much fuller than mine.
Costello’s are my first good bags I bought I still throw them every now and then they are Great!
They are a great bag to start with.

Awesome! Let me know what you think of them after you've thrown them.
Costellos!! I have a set and had to buy a set for my wife!! One of my top bags
They are still one of my go to bags.
Thanks for the recommendation, just got these and wow they are awesome!
These are still some of my favorite bags. The more they break in, the better they get.
One my my favorite cornhole bag reviewers. Offers a ton of depth and perspective.
Thanks! I appreciate the support!

I agree. The Costellos are one of my go to bags when it gets humid.
Just had a set delivered. Looking forward to playing with them

One question, how are the Costellos different from the Rubys?
The more you throw the Rubys, the better they get. They will start to loosen up as they break in and they will play even better.
The materials are different on both sides of the bags. They play similar but the Costellos are a little slower. The Rubys are a 6/9 speed and the Costellos are 6/8. However, the Ruby slow side plays like a faster 6 and the Costello is a slower 6.

Great point. That is something that I have done on a few videos and I need to do it on all of them.
Mike your the best! Thanks
Great review Mike. Have you considered reviewing the Redrum from black sheep baggers?
I wan to review the Redrums at some point. I do not a set of them yet but they are on my list to get.
These look awesome. Just tried out the mn tailgate omega's, I love them.
I haven't tried the Omegas yet. How do you like them?
Hey Mike quick question. Is there an aco stamped bag similar to costellos? Absolutely love the feel of them

Great looking bag, how do you like them compared to the Rubys?

With bags being constructed with the same materials and with the success of the Costello do you know of any clones from different manufacturer?
I haven't found any exact clones yet but the Feist Slingers are a fuller Costello. I did a review on them. The Pro Sniper is close - same materials but the fast side is reversed.

Having thrown both the Costello and the Ruby which bags stays fuller after being broken in? And which does better in humid conditions? Thanks!
The Ruby bags are probably a touch fuller after breaking in but it's not a big difference.
Both bags play well in humidity. I would give the edge to the Ruby bags. They are a slightly faster bag to start with so they tend to play a touch faster when the boards get sticky.
Where are you throwing at? Looks awesome
I throw at a park that is a mile from my house. The town built a cornhole area there.
@@MikesBags damn that’s really cool
@@MikesBags how do the concrete boards play? They must have a coating?
Not sure about the coating. They play slower than normal boards do. The big issue is around the hole. The edges are a little less rounded and bags will hang up a lot. In a pinch, they are playable but I wouldn't use good bags in them because you are likely to get some pulls and snags from them.
Hole friendly bag for sure
One of the best.
hey mike, does the costello forgive a bad throw? and head for the hole anyway? (like the pro sniper) or does she tend to kiss right or left?
I would say yes. It's the same slow side material as the pro sniper so they play close to the same. The pro sniper is just a touch faster on the fast side and a little floppier. The Costellos are a forgiving bag.
@@MikesBags thx, and how u break it ?
I typically use Toss Sauce to break them in.
are they a smaller and less floppy than the all slide 2.0?
No, they are the same size. The Costellos are a little floppier but it's close.
Not sure if mine are different but I find the costellos a smaller template, fuller bag than the black water which I find are very similar to the 2.0.
It probably has something to do with how we broke our bags in. Different break in processes can change how the material stretches or shrinks.
what do you recommend for a break in method for these costello
I've been using Toss Sauce for most of my bag recently. That's a good option but so is Sac Relax and the Bag Butter. The Costello bags don't take a lot to break in but I found that if you just throw them, the fabric takes a while to soften up and feel comfortable in the hand.

Black sheep’s customer service is atrocious. Sent me 3 bags and one was dirty, wouldn’t go good for it. I have 3 bags I can’t use now. Bye bye $100
