    Yeah the aftermaret doesn't know to use the right steel and do proper hardening, required for some parts. Especially springs are very speciallized parts, and there are proper ''spring steels"'. Original vw engine steel parts could've been C45 hardened, I think. Thx for another video! Cheers.

    Did you have any trouble lining up the fan shroud. Ive heard that they aren't built very accurate. Ive been trying to get some here in NZ for a year or more now, but no luck yet. It seems a lot of parts are out of stock here at the moment.

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  11 місяців тому

      Yes I did and I don't think the new fan was balanced because the shroud screws keep coming loose

    • @TheEZGZ

      I totally Agree! Considering the fan is turning approximately1/2 the speed of the crankshaft!

    Hey EZ, I've been watching your videos since my car accident ended my automotive career. Been through 4 spine surgeries, one of which I just had. I've been tinkering on my 71 SB for some time but I do have question? I noticed throughout your videos you don't use a steering wheel disconnect and or have mentioned one. Pacific Customs has a 3 hole made for buggies. How do you feel about them? Thanks Ricky

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  Рік тому

      Well personally I think it is just another thing to rattle and keep track of. My riding buddies would probably keep hiding it😇 however If it makes it easier to get in and out of your car I would consider it. You need a place to store it. I don’t think of it as a theft deterrent. This is just my humble opinion. ……

    I've had a Bosch alternator with a petronix 2 it will go to about 12v in the morning and when it warms up stays at 14v and 13.8 when I got the lights on. The distributor I got currently is kinda driving me crazy it's one of those bigger $300 ones but the thing will stick on a certain point so you'll have 30° of timing but it could be stuck at 15 ° or 22° I've thought about buying a new distributor. No points do you think duel idfs it would be ok for a svda. I have a c35 cam. I would also think the my alternator is causing it to run funny. Any input is appreciated.

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  11 місяців тому

      sorry for the late delayed reply. My new pertronix does not like 14 volts and starts to cross fire. I put on a old fan shroud with generator and it hasn't missed a lik sense. My fancy top side rotor with GM style timing advance got all rusty sense I check it last summer. I'm not happy about the cost vs the results. More of a bling thing.

      @@TheEZGZ your good hmm 🤔. I thought about buying a kultherworks 009 but the bigger petronix distributor. Isn't working for me. The distributor mechanical advance gets stuck and it'll run like crap. hopefully everything is well.

    Hey EZ! How do you tell if a used transmission is any good?

    • @TheEZGZ
      @TheEZGZ  Рік тому

      If you have a lot of experience you can take it apart and get feel of things but a tranny with a lot of mileage can fool you. Installing it in the and running it with load is only real way I know. A real pain if it’s a swing axle. Most used trannys need a good cleaning and new gaskets and seals. Used trannys have always been a crap shoot! Are you feeling lucky?
