One time I passed through a town in Ohio with a bunch of friends. We stopped because there was some sort of festival going on but everyone in the entire town was just walking around like zombies. There were a few thousand people just wandering around not really doing anything. This lasted for like 6 hours until we decided to gtfo before we ended up as the plot to a horror movie

@joinsideke From my 15ish years of living in Ohio, it's interesting whenever something does happen. Except for the tornado outbreak back in 2019 or the mass shooting in Dayton. We're expecting a solar eclipse in April 2024, though.
Fun things also in Ohio include the largest production of Swiss Cheese out of all the States, we are the the birthplace of Thomas Edison, and a deactivated nuclear reactor. We also invented flight in Ohio to escape (invade) just in case. I enjoy Pineapple Pizza. We absolutely had nothing to do with Manhattan Project. :)

That bit about the change of age for tobacco reminds me of when the store I work at got into trouble (a different branch, not exactly my store specifically) so we had/have to card everyone and can't accept other forms of identification other than specific federal/state ID. It wasn't kids throwing tantrums in that case though, much harder to argue and deflect an old person who is clearly over 21. They still haven't let up on that policy in about half a year. "I'm old enough to be your grandpa/dad" is pretty common to this day. Policy sucks.

i spent my 16th birthday cleaning out the attic of my dead great grandmother's house (who died the day before) in Ohio. I have a dozen relatives still living there that I haven't talked to in 20 years because they are the cringiest people on earth. The suburbs are fun to visit like a theme park/time capsule, but living there would be a trip. Try London, Ohio.

yeah the cheese barn is real, they have them in wisconsin too. in ohio though it's usually run by some farmer or amish people. they're pretty sick, usually they sell their own soda, cheese and meat. im convinced those areas of the state are stuck in a time loop sourcing from the 1800s though. should anyone have the displeasure of visiting the state, make sure not to stay too long, or you'll get stuck in the cheese barn too.
